A solid middle-class gastro pub, this is…read more From the respectable range of ales (including some guests) to more than quaffable wines, you're sure to find something you enjoy drinking. Sierra Nevada is a mainstay. The food menu is long and varied, and the fare I've tried was respectable, albeit a bit spendy given this is zone 4. On the subject of cost, I should say I would have liked to see the prices about a pound or two cheaper for many main courses. And the 10-pound round for two pints of ale did give me a bit of sticker shock given this pub's almost-Essex location. I guess it IS located in yummy mummy Wanstead valley, though. All in all, the pub has good food, good booze and plenty of inviting seating areas and a vast beer garden. On my two weekend visits, it's always been buzzing. If you're in your 30s and living in Wanstead, it's where you're going to end up eating and drinking at the weekend. If you're visiting friends who are the aforementioned, you'll be happy here too.

Really surprised this place has 4 star reviews. Maybe we just got unlucky. I ordered a flat white (on the menu), but was told they couldn't do that today (?) I had a cappuccino instead which came half full and appallingly presented. Then I ordered the smoked chicken and avocado salad which came without any avocado and no explanation after a longer wait than you'd expect in a pub. All in all, pretty disappointing!

There are singers singing pop, folk etc songs. There is plenty of dancing etc. The atmosphere is fantastic. excellent for Romantic evenings out or going out with the family. It caters for birthday parties etc. The service is first class. The set menu is incredible, the meze is so large it fills the whole table!!!, the main meal is grilled meats, poultry etc with rice & salad. It is really a lovely night out for Romantics (with music playing in the background) or for groups who want to have a good meal with some dancing all for a good price. Its a Good Value evening out.. (Parking is on street)..... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. (If you are on facebook check it out en-gb.facebook.com/cyprusmezebar).

As I'm about to move away from East London for a quieter life in Hampshire, I decided this would be the best place locally to have my last supper. I wasn't wrong. I booked a table for 5 on a Saturday night I didn't book it until late afternoon but they were able to accommodate us. It's a set menu only on a Saturday night (I forgot to ask how much that was but it worked out, including wine, beer and a couple of spirits to around £30 per head). For that you get meze starters cold starters such as taramasalata, hummus, delicious aubergine bake thing etc with constantly topped up fresh sesame seeded bread and more dishes being brought out, then hot starters such as cheese & spinach filo parcels, little lamb kofte kebabs, breadcrumbed fish, grilled haloumi etc. By now you're quite full (especially if you overdid it on the fresh bread with your hummus) and you think it must be the end, when you're told you can order more (as much as you like) meze starters, it's all included in the set price. So you order more of your favourite items. And then, when you are well and truly stuffed, you are brought out your rather large main meal! Mine & my friends were a mixed grill & salad with lamb, herbed sausage (and I can't remember what the 3rd thing was but it was delicious anyway) and I'd already advised when I booked that my brother's family were vegetarian / ate fish so theirs was 2 fabulously cooked melt in the mouth swordfish steaks. And finally, after all that, we were brought out 2 large platters of very refreshing fresh fruit slices (kiwi, pineapple, grapes etc). The waiter & waitress looking after our area were excellent and very attentive always on duty watching, without being obvious, when any table had finished a dish / needed topping up or someone wanted them to come over, and the atmosphere, with the Turkish live music / singing was happy, fun and relaxed like a family party. It was a real ideal family restaurant and I'm kind of kicking myself for not going more often before I moved away!
