We meet Dr. Arsalla Islam with our first consultation and I didn't know much about her, but she gave us a LOT of information. To be honest, I was overwhelmed and I have no idea how he felt but he was determined to go through with it. Our insurance required a diet program for 6 months before he could go through with the procedure so he started trying a little bit and lost a couple of pounds here and there. When it finally came time to do his surgery he was ready. The staff at MBS had walked us through EVERYTHING. EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY. We knew what he was getting into. We knew what was going to happen at the post-op and after the surgery. Even after being warned and told what's going to happen most patients don't understand how it's going to feel and are reluctant to follow the guidelines given to them. DO IT. FOLLOW THESE STEPS. YOU WILL RECOVER FASTER. Dr. Islam follows up with your hospital buddy to let them know how things are going along the way. She follows up with you via an app at the hospital while surgery is happening. She lets you know how it goes after surgery and she checks in on her patients. After the surgery is done you are not abandoned to the world. You have follow up appointments. She tells you to call them if you need help. She will make sure you have ALL oF THE HELP you need. I cannot tell you how amazing the support system is if you only take advantage of it. Unfortunately, my husband isn't one of those people... but that's another story. For the buddies that stay with you, if you have an overnight stay, the hospital is horrible to stay at overnight. Try the hotel next door, supposedly there's a discount. I ended up with incredibly bad back pain trying to stay with my husband and he ended up kicking me out of the room because he saw how bad it was. Driving home at 4 am to come back around 11 am for discharge, then waiting on the discharge, that was not fun.

I'm so excited to tell you about this, and I hope you don't think I'm being crazy right now! There is a lady, who is a nurse practitioner at women's center at Hughley hospital, 12 years at MCA before that. During Covid, she realized how many people were actually getting sick and not able to recover because they weren't getting enough nutrients or enough hydration or enough of what they need from their food and drink intake. She opened this place, complete health at Green Oaks, one year ago! You just come in, take your vitals, and then you sit in one of those really fancy massage chairs like they used to have at the Brookstone store at the mall. Do you watch TV for 15 to 30 minutes while you get an IV and then you leave. All of the IVs are a bag of Celine, and then you can choose what you add into it. There's one for energy, there's one for vitality, there's one for hydration, there's one for mood elevation... I think she has 10 or 12 different ones available. So you get a massage, you get to relax and watch TV, you get hydrated, and you leave feeling so much better! This is better than getting a pedicure, I feel like it's better for my body than getting an actual massage, just incredible! She does take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, but they only pay for certain things. If you're paying out-of-pocket, it's $150-$200, depending on what you're getting. You can come just one time and give it a try and never go back, or you can do it once a month if you're trying to achieve some kind of a goal, like weight loss or if you are trying to increase your vitamin B12 to help with depression or anxiety (I'm planning to do that!) Please know that she did not ask me to do this, I do not stand to gain from this financially, and I really just thought it was so incredible. I want to tell people about this because I want to see people feel better and I want for all of us to take better care of our bodies to prevent getting sick instead of treating sicknesses that happen because we don't take care of ourselves! Then when I called again it took them a week and 3 email messages to get back with me.
