He is not someone I will give another dollar to. With regards to the classes, understand that the kids will not be actually learning defensive tactics. It's more of a discipline type of class for kids, to learn to follow directions. From what they learn, hard to visualize a kid using anything learned in class outside of the dojo realistically. 30 min classes, 5 min of warmup. 10 min of actual instruction and 15 min of playtime, like playing a game. Not much kids can learn in 10 mins of actual instruction.

The "coach" sometimes trains the children using fear tactics like "do it because I said so" rather than explaining to a 5-7 year old why they are receiving a consequence for not being on task. The studio manager is lack luster and has horrible communication skills, very quick to get your billing information but you have to ask for all of the pertinent information for the program or you won't receive it. After I had an incident between my kid and the coach and I expressed my concerns, the manager told me "I'm just not on my job like I'm supposed to be..." All of the marketing they do on social media is just for aesthetics, none of that really happens in the studio. Also, parents are allowed to sit and watch each practice and it is family oriented but the studio doesn't set any expectations of the parents to be courteous of the practice and keep conversation low in volume or take them outside of the small one room space. When asked if they could set an expectation about the loud conversations being had every practice, I was told it's "not something we can do anything about." After all the trouble I've had with the place I really would like to remove my kid but he keeps telling me he's not a quitter and wants to finish the rest of the program... wish me luck...
