While our massage was SO AWESOME, the ambiance needs work. Overall, if you want to kill time at the mall or to quickly work out the knots in your neck area it's a nice stop

It's hard to be down on a spa that was essentially a gift, but Touch of Heaven is anything but…read more The place is nice looking enough, very girly, and smelling nice, but it's definitely not in the same class as other spas. The dressing room was dirtier than should be; the carpet didn't look vacuumed and towels and robes from the previous person were still on the floor. Strike one. The massage was nice, a bit rough, but relaxing. The music playing was awful, though, and ruined the experience. Strike two. Next up was the mani/pedi and all that can be said is that one could do a better job at home alone with an emery board. The nail technician seemed nice enough at first, but quickly started talking politics and religion -- subjects that are fine for discussion in the appropriate venue. Being held hostage in a leaking pedicure chair is not one of them. She kept filing too close and caused blood not once, but twice. During the manicure, she went on and on about how awful our town is now that it's becoming more "citified" and that the student population has pretty much ruined it's quaintness. The only reason we live in this town is because of the university, both having finished our advanced degrees there. The manicure took forever and three and a half hours after entering the spa, I finally left. When I got into the car, I noticed that there was nailpolish all over my cuticles. There were air bubbles in the toe polish and a huge smear on the side of my foot. As I drove away, I left more stressed out than I had when I arrived.

The treatment rooms were also gorgeous and had a relaxing vibe. I met with Jordan both times I was there, and she was very upbeat and friendly, and absolutely meticulous about my treatment. Keep an eye on their website for their monthly specials.

Our first few visits were fantastic--the injector we met (I can't remember her name) was warm, professional, and really made us feel at ease. The spa is beautiful, neat/clean and the front staff are usually kind and professional. We loved the service and results and decided to make Glow Bar our go-to spot for injectables. Unfortunately, over time things changed when we started getting booked with the owner, and the overall experience and vibe became noticeably different. Not sure if she's just not a people person, or if it's some sort of complex, but her overall bedside manner is non existent. Every appointment got more awkward, and rushed. Whenever we asked questions, instead of feeling listened to or educated it felt like we were being talked at and dismissed. As clients, we don't expect someone to always agree with us or tell us what we want to hear. We DO value professional guidance and education, but there's a difference between providing expertise and making clients feel unheard or uncomfortable for asking questions. We also noticed a pattern where she kept pushing different products than what we originally came for. And I get it, part of the job is informing clients about options, but the way she did it felt forceful/hostile rather than informative. After repeated experiences like this, it genuinely started to feel as though we were not the type of clients she valued or wanted to work with. If that's the case, I think it would be better to be upfront about the type of clientele they prefer rather to making people feel unwelcome over time while still taking their hard earned money. The last straw for us was just a few months ago. After years of booking here, we had a real emergency and had to call and cancel last minute. And instead of a standard courtesy message or an email (like most established businesses do), she sent a personal angry text to my phone. It came across more like a threat than a professional policy reminder. It's really disappointing, we stayed for years, hoping things would improve, because we had such a positive experience in the beginning but we realized that every appointment left us feeling anxious and uncomfortable than confident. And that says a lot. I'm sharing this for future clients: results matter, but so does feeling respected and safe in the process.
