I started going to this office out of convenience - I used to live across the street. It was decent enough. The staff were friendly and they cleaned my teeth using modern tech. But as I got older and needed more guidance and advice, this office just couldn't hold up. The staff couldn't answer my questions and it became clear that the hygienists needed to hawk supplemental dental products for whatever reason. That was just weird and a bit inappropriate. In the past two years they have struggled to keep appointments because they haven't been able to keep their staff!! And now the nicer of the dentists has left the practice (which was recently sold). As of 2025 this is a completely different business and worse than before. I'm going elsewhere. read more

I have used them since 2017 and then suddenly they "identified" an issue with dental erosion they had never been mentioned before requiring a $450 device. No one seemed to care that it obviously hadn't happened in the last 6 months and when I questioned if there could be other causes. I was brushed off and ignored. Looking for a new dentist. read more

New patient here. I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and--well, pleasant, everyone was. Offices are very clean and the color scheme is relaxing. Appointment was on time; I didn't have to wait. The person who performed my cleaning did a nice job explaining what she was doing and what she found. Also huge bonus for caring about Covid, requiring masks (in fact, the staff was double-masked), and doing a temperature check. As someone who usually dreads going to the dentist, I'm happy to recommend this place. read more

Seriously the BEST dental office in the DMV! Oh, Elite Dental, how I love thee! Let me count the ways: 1. Conveniently located within walking distance of the Takoma metro (red) and near free on-street parking. 2. Extremely clean, well-run, and state-of-the-art practice. Definitely taking COVID protocols seriously. But I was going here for years before the pandemic and they were always on top of things, both technology-wise and health and safety-wise. 3. Everyone is a consummate professional -- from reception to hygienists/assistants to the dentists (shoutout to Dr. Walker, in particular) to billing. It's always a pleasant experience to go here from start to finish. 4. The staff remembers you between cleanings and offers a personal touch that makes you feel like more than just a number/another mouth. 5. Their music playlist is always soooo good. Never too loud, never vulgar, never distracting. Just soothing to the soul and a great walk down (musical) memory lane. Now, I am someone who generally has had positive dental experiences with other practices over the course of my life. Yet this place still manages to far exceed them all! I called Siri and asked for the newest dentist. Elite Dental was at the top of her recommendations. I called the place of business and spoke with Ellie. I gave her a quick run down about my situation concerning my Mother. She invited me today and offered a discount before I asked for one lol and included information about Senior Citizens discounts. I called an Uber and my Mother and I arrived in 11 minutes. The place was beautiful and the energy was amazing and what was more compelling, on this particular day, Seniors was in the house, and they represented people from all walks of life just like the employees. I live in Atlanta and I'm from DC, this gave me Peace, Love and Happinesses. I recommend this place if business to everybody. The customer was amazing!! read more

Absolute trash! I never write reviews. I personally feel everyone deserves an off day. Unfortunately, I've been to the Takoma Park location several times and they ALWAYS find away to disappoint . I had a crown put in back in 2021, I went back to complained about the discomfort several times to no avail. Not even a full 2 years later the crown fell out while I was eating. I made appointment and they kindly got me in the next day. This is when the drama unfolds. Buckle up.....I didn't have my insurance card so I told them I would pay out of pocket. They take me back and the doctor was nice and pretty helpful. The front desk staff were horrific, after completing my appointment I sit down and provide my insurance information. They insisted that I put over $100 dollars on my personal card even though my insurance covered 100%. I explain, if this is my only option I will oblige, however something didn't sit well with. I thought I should give my insurance company a call before moving forward. The staff rudely told me I was holding them up for going home....but isn't this your job? Keep in mind closing wasn't for another 45 min. I told them I was uncomfortable with their request and would like to speak with insurance before moving forward. The entire staff with the exception of the gentleman huffed and puffed about the inconvenience of me double checking. They continuously told me they didn't have time to call my insurance to run my coverage, and gave me nothing but attitude. I took a seat away from the front desk and continued to verify what they were saying with my insurance. I wanted to make sure I would be reimbursed. So glad I did, I found out my visit was 100% covered and there should have been no out of pocket fee. This whole situation was a power dynamic and a scam after pumping head with the front desk clerk at my check in. I OWED them absolutely nothing. My insurance covers 100%. I told myself years ago I would never step foot in that place again, and I regret it coming again. They are shitty at best! Pretty facility though! read more

As the previous reviewer stated, "this is the BEST Dental office in the DMV area". This IS a FACT. Over my lifetime, I've consulted with various dental professionals (i.e. endodontists, periodontists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, etc.), and bar none, these people are the BEST! The Takoma Park staff demonstrates the highest level of competency I've experienced in any dental profession - absolutely top-notch ... as in "graduated at the top of their class" caliber. Excellent! I actually enjoy going to the dentist! Everything about the experience is professional and pleasant. The office itself is bright and clean with friendly and professional front desk staff. Each person I speak to, from checking in to checking out, is warm, patient, and approachable. The hygienists are top notch. They talk you through your cleanings and take the time to explain how to maintain or improve your dental health without judgment or being pushy with extra services. I feel like they care about my health and smile. The first appointment I had, they walked me through the charges with my insurance so I understood the costs. The dentists make you feel like you're old friends. This is just an excellent dental office. I can't say enough good things about them. 10/10, would recommend! read more

Two issues: 1. Practice did not develop a treatment plan following deep cleaning or schedule follow. No problem. Found another dentist for my regular maintenance. 2. Spent over $5,000 dollars out of pocket for dental surgery and other procedures over two years for three implants in addition to insurance payments they received through a comprehensive dental insurance plan. Two of the implants failed within 2 weeks of placement after nearly two years of procedures. When the implants were placed they provided me with a bill from 2022 and 2023 regarding fees they claimed were not paid by the insurance company. I accepted the bill and told them I would contact the insurance company for more information. I did and was prepared to make payment during the follow up visit. Had to wait a month to come back for a follow up appt. Finally went back to office for a follow up and to fix the two implants that fell out. The dentist refused to see me until he received payment on the outstanding balance. I informed the practice that I would gladly pay once my implants were secure. Needless to say my implants are in a plastic baggy in my purse. Run as far away from this practice as fast as you can. Will take my two implants and mouth to another practice and hope they can repair the poor quality of care received. Refuse to do any more business with this practice. read more

Six months ago I made a cleaning appointment. The day before the appointment I received a phone call and email at 9am asking me to confirm by 11am or they would cancel my appointment. At 11:15am I received an email telling me that the appointment had been cancelled and the time given to someone else. I am a teacher and am with students between the hours of 8:30am-12pm, unable to check my cell phone or respond to personal emails. It is entirely unacceptable that after putting in a time off request, getting a sub, and writing sub plans, that they could cancel my appointment with so little notice. read more

I had an amazing experience at Elite Dental. From the moment I called in to schedule an appointment I knew I was in good hands! Diego worked with me diligently to get an appointment and to plan my future appointments. He is very personable and professional. The dental assistant, hygienist Luetete, and Dr. Walker were extremely helpful. They answered all of my questions, gave me a thorough explanation of my care, and most of all made me feel very comfortable. Also their facilities were very clean and COVID-19 safety measures were taken every step of the way. I will definitely return! read more

My negative reviews are being removed. I submitted a complaint to the Blue Cross Quality of Care and the Office of Personnel Management.  The office is refusing to provide my treatment notes to Blue Cross. On 1/26/21 I went in for a $30 cleaning and exam. Instead I was charged $180 for an added speciality examination that I did not want or consent to have.  To do something without patient consent is really bad.   I complained to the practice by email but I got no response. That is shameful. An office that provides quality care follows up on patient complaints. Also Dr. Smith repaired a tooth a couple of years ago but my current xrays show that this tooth still needs to be repaired. Dr. Smith wrote down the wrong tooth the last time, he fixed the one next to it.  Such incompetence in record keeping is a pretty shabby accomplishment in my humble opinion. The people are very nice, I went there for a few years, but my negative experience with this company should be counted in their Yelp rating. I will follow up with the outcome of my Blue Cross report. read more

We moved to DC 5 years ago, and have been through a number of pretty mediocre (or downright bad) dental providers ever since. We finally landed on a location/provider we could walk to, and just stayed there because it was close and I was tired of looking. We were due for our dental cleanings in March, just as everything shut down for Covid. Our dental provider kept rescheduling and rescheduling, until finally everything was just cancelled outright. When I started having some issues in December, I was able to get in to see them, but I wasn't impressed with the care I got, so I started shopping around for a new dentist again. My neighbor recommended Elite Dental, and I tried them out because they were pretty close by (5 minute drive). I immediately felt better cared for than at any point in the last 5 years. I had a lot of work to be done and they have been gently guiding me through it without judgement and with extraordinary patience. I have been so impressed that I cancelled my kids' cleaning appointments at the old walkable provider and scheduled them with Elite. My 6yo came out of her appointment with a big smile, a newly discovered molar, and a sense of motivation to take very good care of her teeth. My 9yo had a slightly less positive experience, primarily because he had a lot of tartar buildup and some apprehension about the work he needed - 2 sealants had to be replaced and one small cavity needed filling. Luckily, they were able to schedule us for the next day, so he didn't have a lot of time to stew about it. Unfortunately, a day was plenty of time to get himself worked up. My son has a debilitating fear of pain, and when he gets worked up it's near impossible to get him to see reason. But Dr. Walker was amazingly patient, even when we overstayed our appointment time trying to persuade my son to open his mouth so they could take care of his teeth. In the end, we somehow convinced him, and Dr. Walker came back in between his other patients to get the job done. Afterward, my son kept talking about how much it didn't hurt, and he didn't even realize Dr. Walker had put a filling in the 3rd tooth! I just can't say enough about how amazing Dr. Walker was. Dr. Smith (whom I've primarily been seeing) is also great, as are the hygienists and technicians and Diego and Kia at the front desk. I was also impressed with Dr. McCall when I saw her. I'm so happy to have finally landed here, though I look forward to seeing much less of them in future, once we get through my current issues. read more

I first came to Elite Dental when I had a tooth that needed to be desperately removed. They made the effort to fit me into the schedule 30 minutes after I called them and had me off an on my way nearly an hour later. I've been a happy customer ever since. Their scheduling is flexible, the staff is helpful, courteous and professional. I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than five minutes after I checked in to start my session. I've had a lifelong phobia about going to the dentist and while the Elite Dental team hasn't cured me of this, they have definitely helped ease the pain once I'm there. read more

Elite Dental Takoma was recommended by a friend after he had many problems a his bridge that only this dentist was able to resolve. Dr. Smith and his staff are very efficient, friendly, and professional. They don't make you wait around and run all of the costs by you ahead of time. I love Dr. Smith and his staff. The hygienist are super knowledgeable and friendly. It was breath of fresh air to have a practice that was competent and young and friendly vs. my old dentist who I left after 2 root canals of which caught me off guard cause I never knew why I was having trouble but I knew something was wrong. My first visit to Elite Dental, Dr. Smith assessed me and in 2 minutes said "Oh you need a mouth guard" which if my old dentist of 10 years had figured that out I may not have needed to root canals! Warning - great practice, but disappointingly rude office management. Got disrespected by the office manager at 8am on a Saturday morning (great way to start the morning). I shared my concerns about the rude tone and aggressiveness with the dentist, who admittedly didn't have any idea how to handle the situation and only made it worse with his indifference. If they aren't concerned about rude treatment of their clients for something minor, I can't imagine the response if there was a serious issue. What a disappointment. read more

I came in as a new patient with tooth pain, after not having been to the dentist in about 10 months. They took a bunch of X-rays which showed no cavities and otherwise healthy teeth and gums, but then they took pictures of the inside of my mouth and the dentist informed me that I have 9 cavities. NINE. I think I maybe had one in my entire life and I brush and floss regularly, so this was pretty shocking and devastating. The dentist said I might as well have my four wisdom teeth extracted, plus another 5 fillings they'll need to do. I asked if it's possible that it's just the beginnings of cavities and it might be reversible and he said no. The proposed treatment plan added up to $600, assuming my dental insurance would cover half of it. It would be $1170 out-of-pocket. I went home feeling pretty ashamed and guilty for having all those cavities, not to mention the money I would have to spend, when my wife insisted that we go to another dentist who's much farther but we've had nothing but good experiences there. I go to this dentist and he says I have some plaque, and some grooves in my molars but 0 cavities. ZERO. He shows me how he pokes my tooth with a sharp tool that would go through if there was decay but there is none. So I am pretty baffled. I never write reviews like this but I just want to balance all of the 5 star reviews, which were the reason I came to Elite Dental in the first place. I was referred here by 2 coworkers and I must say I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time so I was fearful to have someone take a look. However, Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff made me feel comfortable and the environment was clean and neat including the bathrooms. Music is usually playing and it's not loud but up enough to hear to feel relaxed. I have been 3 times for cleaning, filling, and getting wisdom tooth pulled. No issues. The staff gives you ahead up on pricing in case your insurance doesn't cover before procedures are done so you're not taken advantage of or end up paying out of pocket a grip of money. Appointment reminders via email, text, and call which is appreciated. Pre and post-op instructions provided via print out and email. I recommend everyone to try them for your dental needs. read more

I recently tried Elite in Takoma for the first time. I have a dentist that I have been to for years and love, but I moved and wanted to find someone closer to home. My expectations were low, since my prior dentist was so great, but the team at Elite really blew me away. Everyone was extremely friendly and experienced and I loved the fresh, modern office. Having Saturday hours was a huge perk too. Even my daughter asked to go back the next day! Looks like I have found my new dental home. read more

What a bunch of crooks! They are clearly only interested in how much money they can get out of your insurance and don't care at all about the patients opinion. My first visit they insisted I needed a mouth guard and since I know I clench my teeth I agreed to buy one for about $500. At my second visit today they tried to sell me a waterpik and said I needed to reschedule for 6 weeks from now to do a more intensive cleaning. I told them I'd rather just do the regular cleaning today and schedule the more intensive version for my next visit in 6 months, they said no so I got up and left. They have state of the art facilities and equipment and everyone is super friendly. Dr. Rauchon is extremely gentle with my anxious kid and has a great facility with young people. First, the positive side: They provide good quality services and have a friendly staff. But a warning: Be on your guard. It's not clear to me when they're making a real medical recommendation and when they're just trying to make a sale. They aggressively up-sell their products, and have tried to get me to agree to services that are not covered by my insurance. I learned this the hard way when they told me I needed a dental guard. I mistakenly trusted that they were making this recommendation in good faith, and the cost of my mistake was a $400+ bill that was completely uncovered by insurance. I need a dentist that I can trust, so I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Can't ask for better service--great front desk staff, almost no wait time, and Dr. Smith is a fantastic dentist--I'm a baby and he made sure I had absolutely no pain or discomfort. They also have modern equipment like digital x-rays (that exposure you to way less radiation than old school ones). I also really like that he works seamlessly with his hygienists.
