Amazing environment, delicious beers and a pint cooling strip at the bar. Best beef dip I've ever tasted. Decor, and server demeanour is above and beyond. LOVE THE PLANTS! Had a blast with the games. Thanks for being a bomb place to spend a few bucks!

    Uncommon Cider - Vermouth

Been a few years since the last time we visited Uncommon Cider. It's one of two cidery spots in…read moretown. 11 ciders on tap (core ciders, collabs, YYC and seasonal). Was curious about their vermouth; staff was sweet to offer us samples. Shared a cider flight ($15.00) opting for the peach, calamansi, black currant and hibiscus. Peach and calamansi were great. Hibiscus was our least favourite; unbalanced and a bitter end note. Bought cans ($5.50 each) of ginger and peach.

Our second cidery that we checked out was Uncommon Cider Co. This was Calgary's first cidery,…read moreopening up back in 2016. We dropped in on a Thursday afternoon (around 4:45pm). Three large picnic tables outside along with a couple more inside. Service is friendly and there's a resident dog hanging out. There was 8 flavours to choose from (cores, collaborations and seasonals) along with some non-alcoholic options. - 2x Flights ($14.50 for 4) - we decided to share two flights. First flight was strawberry basil kombucha, haskap, gin botanical and macintosh dry marco. Second flight was hopped, space juice, 2018 and 2019. Our favourite was their collaboration with Citizen Brewing Company; space juice (stone fruit with tropical hops). Gin botanical was a close second but all their ciders have a good mouth feel and slight funk to them, which we loved. - Pear cider ($9.00) - wild fermented pear cider with elderflowers. Light, floral and summery. - Winter spice cider ($9.00) - infused with a mixture of mulling spices. This wasn't too heavy on the palate. - Passionfruit guava ($19.00 for 4) - one of their seasonal summer flavours. Bright, tropical and a touch funky. - Blackberry ($19.00 for 4) - another seasonal that sounded promising. However, the blackberry was fairly standard. UCC was the easy winner from the two cideries in town. Looking forward to coming back. 4.5 stars.

They also have a sister company called Bramble Cider. We dropped in on a Thursday afternoon (around 3:00pm). The inside is warm and inviting. Service was friendly and we were checked on several times. There was 10 cider flavours on tap. Sadly they were out of plum. 500mL bottles are $8.99 to $9.99 and 4 pack cans are $14.99. They also had a few mead, kombucha and liqueur options. If you're hungry, small snacks are offered out of their kitchen (Spoon Fed Snacks). Pours were roughly $2.50 each. - Strawberry rhubarb - light and summery. Rhubarb came through a touch more. - Ginger apple - one of their staples. Lightly gingered. - Country garden - Hopped ginger - the hops used (simcoe) were very strong, beer-like. Too overpowering. - Saskatoon - haven't found a haskap cider that we've liked and the trend continues. Unbalanced. - Sea buckthorn - never seen buckthorn used before (it's a plant). A very, very light citrus note. - Sour cherry - another one of their staples. - Cherry vanilla - this was E and J's favourite. A touch of vanilla to balance out the cherry. - Hive alive - they added honey into this cider but we couldn't tell. Tasted very generic. - Lotta love - Citrus sunbucha - kombucha flavour was light and could have used more carbonation. All the flavours at SunnyCider sounded great on paper but were too similar for our taste buds.
