The way the material is presented in based on building a basic knowledge of different drinks and how to build on those drinks to make more sophisticated drinks worthy to be made at higher end establishments, ultimately resulting in a higher wage for the mixologist. I feel I responded very well to Dan's teaching style. He made it fun while making sure that we understood the exercises laid out in the materials that were given. I had the opportunity to work with different individuals enrolled in the class and this also helped in the teaching process. I am extremely satisfied with the class. The tuition is very reasonable and can be made back over a few shifts at work. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone looking to have a mixologist in their back pocket, either to make extra money or to make a great career out of it. Thank you, Dan!

The Chadwick is the place to have your reception. My experience:…read more My wife and I got married in March 2024 and had our reception at the Chadwick. We spent about half a year organizing it, working with Stacy, Chadwick's Event Planning Manager. From the first meeting, she was extremely easy to work with and very helpful. She laid out all of our options and was honest in her process, allowing us to design the event how we wanted. She was our main support and I can't thank her enough for her excellent work. The Chadwick's dining service was similarly excellent. Our selection process was breezy, and the food tasted just as good when we sampled it as it did at the wedding. The in-house chef was great to work with and was a great help during the tasting process. Our guests gave us rave reviews both at the reception and after -- it was really that good. The Chadwick has a great location. The parking lot is expansive, and the venue is clean and elegant. Our ballroom was a perfect fit for about 130 guests. The table layout was custom-tailored and the (included!) bar service was a hit. The cost is unbeatable for the value, the staff is communicative and smart, the food is truly excellent, and the venue is wonderful. The Chadwick has my highest recommendation. I hope you give them a call to plan your big day.

I am a bride and had my wedding at The Chadwick in May of 2013…read more I'm going to preface this by saying that YES, I wanted a package deal. I was planning my event from out of state and wanted to deal with as few vendors and little nitty-gritty details as possible. My husband and I worked with Stacey for the planning piece- she was awesome and readily accessible through e-mail or phone. I feel like I got everything that I wanted in the package that we designed together and that the pricing was fair. I would say that it would be a bit over-priced on a Saturday though. (paying full price- Friday and Sunday weddings get a decent sized price break). We had what they called the Elegant Sitdown Reception- 4 courses, plated and served. The food was pretty good for my taste and my guests loved it (which is what really mattered to me). The outdoor patio is beautiful! In response to a comment below- they must have updated the bathrooms. They look brand new now. They also did a bunch of work to the entrance hall that was under construction when I first went to tour the facility and completed by the time my wedding rolled around. Our event coordinator was really on her game the day of and I have ZERO complaints about her. tldr: my wedding was great! I was a very easygoing bride though and didn't have any sort of "grand vision" that I needed the details to be perfect on. They executed what I had in mind as well we I would have myself. Definitely recommend for a bride who has a busy schedule and wants to leave the details up to someone else.

I chose to go with them to save myself headache of looking for another since I was going to be traveling a lot before my event. I booked them in the first week of June for a mid- August party. Shelly was nice enough to talk to but VERY disorganized. I had to give her the same information (address, start time, etc.) several times because she kept losing her paper. She called me 3 days before the party to say that the bartender canceled but she had her "feelers" out and would "try" to find another one. When I found one on my own, she had major attitude about it. She insisted that I needed 3 servers for the day and gave me a price. The day of the event, she arrived over 40 minutes late! When I should have been getting changed to be ready to greet my guests, I was walking her around to show her what needed done for the night. She only had one other server with her because she said she told the other girl to come at 6pm (even though I was paying for 3 people from 4-midnight. They did a fine job clearing plates throughout the evening but we had several behind the scenes issues. The coffee served was cold due to an issue with the pot needing run through once to heat it before making a pot. When asked to remake it, she said that she usually just makes it half regular and half decaf to mix it and people never know about it. We told her that was unacceptable because that can be a medical issue for people that cannot have caffeine. We are not sure where all the food that was left by the caters ended up and when I asked her about it, she got very angry and told me that she was told to eat dinner. I was not disputing that she should eat, just wondering where the extra food was since it clearly wasn't sent home with us. Still don't know where my extra brisket, sausage, cheese, pepperoni, and vegetables ended up! At the end of the night, she walked through the dining room taking tablecloths off the tables that still had people sitting at them. Prior to the party, I asked her for an invoice so I could pay her and she only verbally gave me the price and said I had to pay her cash. Two days after the event I got a text thanking me for the extra money I gave her. I certainly would not have knowingly given a dime extra with the attitude I had to deal with throughout the night. When I asked her what she was talking about, she said that she gave me a different price. I let her know why I would not have knowingly given her $100 extra dollars, so she called me and we spoke about it. She apologized about the issues I had, made some excuses, and agreed with several complaints. I thought my dealings with her were done. She then proceeded to send me a very unprofessional text message almost 8 hours later about how she runs a "professional business" and she has never had someone with this many complaints about her service. Any "professional business" would have issued an invoice and contract prior to the event then proceeded to meet those terms. They would have accepted a check as payment so there was record of it as well! The text she sent me was appalling, especially since she agreed with me and actually apologized for the way the party went when I spoke to her earlier in the morning. In the text, she said "We are also used to more professionally ran & classy events... Maybe high school girls would have worked out better for you!" I couldn't agree more that she did not add any class to the event. The only classless thing there was her overall service. And I am convinced that high school girls could have performed better service at a much lower rate! It was my mistake to go with the easy road and using her to serve my event. I would not make the same mistake again and hope that anyone reading this review does not make the same mistake!

The owner aka "Connie"…read more abruptly ended our daughters wedding reception, with absolutely no warning she threw on all overheard lights and yelled "Party over! Partly over!" all while frantically waving her arms above her head at 10:00 pm. The DJ was told not to play another song. Stunned guests stood staring open mouthed. They were informed to leave the building immediately. The bride and groom had not yet had their "last dance" and proper send off. Several guests along with the brides parents offered $$$ money if the reception could be extended for an additional 15 minutes (enough time for the last dance and to thank guests) but were denied. Contrary to the agreement that any overages would be paid in cash at the end of the evening the owner decided to immediately end the event on her own terms. Our daughter was humiliated before the remaining 100+ guests (several whom had flown in from other states), robbed of precious memories and spent her wedding night in tears. Hickory Lodge is NOT a stress free pleasant enviroment. Although the outdoor gazebo and surrounding lawns are beautiful the indoor service leaves a lot to be desired. I caution all to have a DETAILED SIGNED CONTRACT, including weights/measurements, exact times, taste test etc. DO NOT assume anything! Numerous accounts of Unprofessional behavior have been noted pertaining to our event "some" listed below. The decorator was phoned & told her to be at the hall, remove decorations by 10:00 pm or doors would be locked & items confiscated. Air conditioning was not turned on until the exact hour our event began, blaming the DJ for opening the doors to unload. DJ was warned not to play music too loud. Our DJ was also denied a fork, inquiry made as to if she was even on the guest list! (owner previously informed a table designated specifically for our working vendors and all were included in the guest count) When the DJ announced cake cutting, the couples cake could not be found! Once located & cut there was great delay in serving. Unbelievably guests were denied eating utensils, it being stated they should have kept their dinner fork! Waite staff removed tableware, food and beverages immediately if you left your place setting. Many opened half full bottles of champagne were dumped simply because people were dancing, visiting or in the restroom. Guests were repeatedly asked if they were done eating; waite staff commenting they needed the plates. Hickory Lodge holds NO liquor license so hosts must provide their own alcohol. Groom's parents brought in cases of canned beer, two different brands. When guests requested a particular brand they were told that there was no more. Upon further inquiry it was discovered that "Connie" did not want to open a new case since there was still the other brand available. At NO time did the hosts request guests be limited. We chose not to have liquor at our event but we still had to pay for a bartender (which surprisingly was non other than Connie) and a security officer (unrecorded sheriff's deputy) for which we were required to pay an additional hourly rate for each. Beware "extra" hidden charges tally up quickly. Hickory Lodge charges $1 per hour per guest ($4 per person) for water / soda. Guests were required to request soda from the bar. A serving consisted of warm soda poured from a 2 liter bottle sitting atop the bar to which a couple ice cubes were added into a "small" disposable plastic cup. We were charged full rate for toddlers as well. It was impossible that ANY guest was served the amount of soda that we were required to pay for. Tap water provided in pitcher at the table. Food portions were small and limited. Waite staff (including a fellow guests report was moments before mowing grass before he appeared in a white shirt slid over a dirty t-shirt) served guests cafeteria style to keep guests from lingering or taking "too much". (Connies exact words) No seconds permitted. As soon as the line passed thru, leftovers were immediately boxed up. Connie was repeatedly not available at appointed time for vendors arrival. ALL stated she was rude and difficult to work with. Connie refused to turn on air conditioning for the decorating staff, even though we had paid extra for 6 hours of time. Also NO beverages allowed to be brought in while decorating. Our area was experiencing heat in the 90's that week. It was cooler outdoors so we propped open a door which Connie insisted we close. The day before our event "Connie" informed us that we could not have a sign in table stating that people tend to congregate and hold the doors open. Despite admitting it had remained in the exact same location for over 20 years to date. A compromise was made in that the main doors were locked and guests entered through a side door, down a long hallway before signing in and receiving table assignmen

For a wedding that is in JULY, the owner should have expected for a very warm and humid day. There was dirt all over the toilet seat, and I heard men saying that there was mold under the seats in the restrooms. GROSS. The food portions were pathetic. I felt awful for someone that has a larger appetite than myself. I heard other people complaining that their food was under-cooked and cold. Before most people could finish their food, employees of Hickory Lodge started to walk around and collect the plates, bowls, AND eating utensils (AKA FORKS). The bride and groom cut their cake a short while later... The bride had to have a guest remind the employees to bring out the GUEST'S cake!! By the time the employees brought it out, it was extremely dry from sitting in the back already cut. The owner (who was behind the bar) denied guests a new fork to eat their cake, saying "if you wanted cake, you should have kept your fork". I'm sorry but it is not my responsibility as a guest to say "Please don't take my fork" while I am away from my seat giving the bride and groom my best. When at the bar, I also heard the owner deny a guest a particular type of beer that hadn't been open because "we needed to use what was open first". The mother & mother-in-law of the bride were asked if they requested that the beer be opened in a certain order, and they said no. I was also informed that the beer was supplied by the family, NOT Hickory Lodge; therefore, she should not have had any say in the matter. At 10:00 on the button, the lights turned on and the owner from behind the bar started flailing her arms, screaming "PARTY OVER, PARTY OVER" acting like a cop busting a high school party. The bride & groom were denied their last dance and their official send off. Many guest approached the owner offering money so they could end their first night as a married couple the right way, and still denied. All in all, I would NOT recommend this disgrace as of a business.
