All that to say I was super intimidated to take the plunge now, in my late 30s. I started with a Saturday afternoon line dancing workshop. I was immediately put at ease by the friendliness and the diversity of ages, sizes, and shapes of people that I found taking the class with me. After my wonderful experience at the workshop, I signed up for beginning modern jazz. Tracey Durbin is an amazing teacher! I was up-front with her about my lack of experience and nervousness. She put me at ease by reminding me that everyone is here to have fun, period. I have now signed up for my second session and I have no plans to stop!

I have been dancing over 12 years but have only had 3 long term instructors who I have really connected with and they were all in Massachusetts; until now. Whitney (co-owner) has the ability and the presence of mind to see what I already know and build on it. Breaking down steps in a language that I understand is key and she nails it. She leverages her communication with me and she has just enough humor to make me feel at home. Austin, her husband and co-owner, is always happy to help when needed to assess or advise. Their other instructors, Ian, Cassie, although newer, are equally committed to making dancing a great experience. As I watch new students join and work with a staff who makes it all about the student I can understand why the studio is growing every week. Walking into Legacy I have never had that experience. Each new person is brought into our family. I have been going to this studio for 9 years and each year brings new experiences, great people, and a whole lot of fun.
