We found Juan from Elisa's Catering early in our wedding planning process. Juan is one of those low-key hidden gems my wife found on reddit. We interviewed with a bunch of caterers and tried a handful. We ended up with Juan because of 3 factors. As a foodie couple, we wanted to put emphasis on food for our wedding and Juan had some delicious food. Juan was super easy to work with. Juan was a one-stop-shop that also helped with rentals, linen and bartending. We contracted with Juan a year out from the big day. We're glad we did because the caterer is one of the big puzzle piece of the wedding. So how was working with Juan? Juan is super busy on weekends, and you'll have way better luck getting a hold of him middle of the week. Juan is also a "getting to yes" kind of person, a problem solver. Our venue had a few surprises that ultimately made the caterer team's job a bit tricky. We watched Juan work the problem. He never lost sight of his goal, make the food happen for our big day. Some of these issues would have been show-stoppers for any other caterers but Juan remained commited to making it happen. Ok, so how was the food? Soooo goooood. We were looking forward to the food even before our wedding. Our guests would let us know how good the food was, and then let us know they enjoyed our wedding...in that order... There were a few special items we wanted at our wedding that Juan didn't have on his menu. He was open to working with us on those items and they turned out great! I cannot recommend Juan and his team at Elisa's Catering enough! I'm still dreaming about the incredible food from our wedding. My partner and I envisioned a vegan taco bar with a shrimp option for our guests, and Juan delivered beyond our expectations. The flavors were absolutely amazing. Every taco filling was insanely delicious, and the shrimp was a total crowd-pleaser. We received so many compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was! Beyond the amazing food, the service was impeccable. Right after our ceremony, Juan's team brought us a plate of appetizers so we could actually enjoy the cocktail hour bites, which was such a thoughtful touch and so needed with the business of our day. He's so friendly, humble, accommodating, very experienced, and his food is great! We were looking for a caterer who could create a family-style Asian-inspired menu and Elisa's Catering was one of the options stood out to us for their sample dishes on their website, customizability, and the reasonable quote. After exchanging emails and a couple phone calls with Juan to confirm our tasting menu, we had a tasting and really enjoyed everything. He has a great eye for presentation, he explained all the dishes well and took all our feedback into account. We loved the pork belly appetizer so much, we turned it into an entreé so we could enjoy more of it! In between our tasting and the wedding day, we got in touch with their preferred event rental company to pick out our linens, dishes, utensils, etc. and Juan handled the rest of the coordination. We were able to adjust the items on our original invoice, like adding a water station, a hot water carafe for our late night DIY instant ramen bar, and having apps served down near the ceremony space instead of the bar area as originally planned to cater to a better guest experience. Juan was gracious and patient through it all. We also really appreciated that he's not out to nickel and dime you and there aren't any hidden charges with him. He's genuinely here to make sure him and his catering team can help make your event the best! On the wedding day, everything seemed to run smoothly and all the team members we spoke to were so friendly. The staff made sure to serve me and my husband first and came back to check if we needed anything. We got so many compliments from our guests raving about the food throughout the day! People especially loved the pork belly and the ahi tuna cone appetizer. At the end of the night, we were given a couple trays of leftovers - a service that not all other caterers provided. We are so happy we chose Juan and his team to be our wedding caterers for our June 2024 wedding at Ruth Bancroft Gardens in Walnut Creek. They have done many weddings here and know all the ins and outs of the garden, which was invaluable. They also helped us with all the setup, service, table clearing, breakdown, and cleanup. We started off with a tasting in Concord, and my husband and I were blown away by how delicious everything was. For our wedding, we decided on pork belly steamed buns (my favorite appetizer, a perfect combination of smoky with pickled vegetables), ahi poke tuna cones with lemon avocado puree, and bulgogi chicken skewers with lemon chili kimchi sauce. For our main entrees, we had a stonefruit salad with burrata cheese, roasted salmon with an apricot ginger lime glaze, and rosemary and garlic-crusted prime rib (carving station). We chose garlic noodles (my fave), roasted broccolini, and mashed potatoes (my other fave) for our sides. The food was a hit at our wedding; we received so many compliments, and everyone had enough for seconds. Juan and his team were an absolute delight to work with. Delicious Food and Seamless Service - Perfect Farewell Brunch! We hired Elisa's Catering for our Farewell Brunch the day after our wedding, and they did an absolutely fantastic job! I worked with Juan, who made the entire process incredibly easy and stress-free. He provided a clear menu of options with straightforward pricing and quantities, and was always quick to respond to any questions I had. The food was delicious--our guests especially raved about the veggie egg casserole and the French toast. Cannot recommend enough! Juan worked with me to create a smaller, custom sandwich menu for a baby shower I was having for 25 guests, that started at 10:30am. In the planning process, he dealt kindly with my many edits and requests. He made these sandwiches: flank steak, carmelized onion, and Boursin; smoked salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese; and chicken pesto, tomato. He also made a yummy pasta salad with tortellini, red onion, cherry tomato, artichokes, and olives; and a huge arugula salad with feta, nuts, and tons of berries. The guests all loved the provisions and several asked me who catered so they could use him for their future events. Juan was prompt on the day of the event and when I couldn't hear the doorbell over the sound of my blow drier he even walked around to my fence calling my name and I heard him! He was so fast and friendly setting up. I was going to put the sandwiches on platters but we ended up just leaving them in their tins and it didn't detract from the upscale garden party vibe I was going for. His wife has beautiful handwriting and made labels for all of the items. We actually forgot we had gotten chic fil a nuggets for kids to eat, and all of the kids at the party happily ate Juan's sandwiches and seemed to really like them based on how much they ate! If there were more stars I would give Elisa's Catering them all! This team is amazing! We had them cater our wedding and it was 100% an amazing decision. Every single guest could not stop raving about the staff- and also- THE FOOD! Even the pickiest eaters were so pleased with the catering. I'm also so glad their coordinator told me about late night snack options because nothing tastes better at the end of the night quite like a cheeseburger slider and some pigs in a blanket. The amazing quality of food and service also came with such a reasonable price tag! First of all - the food was absolutely delicious. Juan made us feel cared for from Day 1 with a special tasting of all the menu items we wanted to try. The food on the day of was exactly what we were hoping for, beautifully presented and so tasty. People especially loved the bulgolgi skewers and the salmon - but it was all so yummy! Second of all -  my mom designed really special signature cocktails for us, and Juan had multiple conversations with her about how to make those happen. I hired Elisa's catering for my original wedding date of May 22, 2021. Unfortunately, the venue my husband and I had originally chose closed down in the height of the pandemic. So we were forced to postpone our wedding date for another year. The owner of Elisa's catering, Chef Juan, called us and told us about another venue he hosts if we were open to an outdoor wedding. We toured the beautiful property of Bhachu Vineyards. In the hills of Martinez, a beautiful secluded private place for any event. It's on top of what looks like a lot of farming and agriculture & it's a place you wouldn't know to exist. We spoke with the owner of the property, the price was $10K than what we were planning on spending & we loved it even more. We were happy to be working with a team that knew what they were doing. Elisa's Catering had been hosting at Bhachu's for many years and had a workflow that made it all come out so smoothly. We hired them for our new date May 20, 2023. We chose: acórese skewers, chicken & waffles & teriyaki meatballs for appetizers, Tri-tip steak with chimichurri sauce, chicken with artichoke hearts, bell peppers and a lemon sauce, roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Not only did he supply us with the catering (which was amazing by the way), he gave us our wedding planner which was included in his price, setup/breakdown, & rentals. Everything you think you had to worry about, they took care of it all. When I tell you how stressed I was as a bride planning alone with limited help and then Chef Juan offered services with his wedding planner, I was relieved. At the end of planning & on our wedding day, we kept being told "you guys went over the top. Who's going to top you?" And others saying they thought we spent $60K+ for our wedding when we didn't, was amazing. Everything was flawless and I owe it all to Elisa's Catering. There were a few things that made them stick out from other catering companies I've seen at other weddings, and they were: -Assisting my disabled guests that had a hard time getting out of their chairs and walk to the restroom. -Making sure our guests allowed us to eat. Which newlyweds don't usually get to do. People tried to take pictures with us while we were trying to eat and our wedding planner told someone that we will be available after we eat. -The portions of the plates were full. They weren't skimpy at all. People were full for hours. My husband and I have been to weddings before where we felt hungry after eating and this was not the case for our case. People still talk about our wedding food being delicious almost a month after our wedding. At the end of the night, we were probably the least stressed wedding couple because Elisa's catering did such a good job at making sure everything was ready to go. If I ever have another event and I need catering, I'm going with Elisa's catering. Hands down, Juan will always be the first person that comes to mind for any event. If a friend or family needs catering, I'm telling them about Elisa's catering. I genuinely cannot say enough good things about the job Elisa's Catering did for our wedding! Having a good caterer was one of our biggest priorities and we really hit the jackpot with Juan at Elisa's Catering! First off, the food was incredibly delicious and interesting! We did tastings at two different caterers, and Elisa's Catering just blew the other place out of the water. It was delicious, inventive, had flavor and range! It wasn't just the same old appetizers and options you see at most weddings, so if you're looking for something exemplary, I highly recommend Elisa's catering! I mean, it was all so good that over half of our final menu was things we hadn't even actually tasted, and I was not worried at all! Their prices are extremely reasonable and they're familiar with and have worked with a ton of the other local vendors for weddings. Many people I talked to at the wedding went out of their way to stress how amazing the food was, and we were overjoyed with the whole thing! Juan also worked with us to handle a somewhat atypical request for a tapas/small plates style buffet, and they all did a great job with it, despite it not being their usual approach. They were very flexible, accepting our requests, giving us advice, and getting it all done. And the buffet also LOOKED amazing! How do you make a huge pile of salad look SO appetizing? I don't know, but they did it! We also, as requested, were able to take leftovers home, but the estimate of what we'd need was so good that despite there being plenty of food for everyone, we also didn't have a huge amount of leftovers, which was fantastic! Beyond just the excellent quality of the food, everyone at Elisa's was a joy to work with. They took care of all rentals, and were in-touch with us before the event, making sure that we had everything squared away. Emails are a good way to communicate, but if you've got a lot to chat about, I'd recommend just setting up a phone call. Juan is so kind and friendly and down-to-earth, I was completely comfortable talking on the phone (and I get nervous about phone calls generally). We had a relatively last-minute venue and schedule change due to an emergency building closure, and not only were they extremely helpful and flexible on this front, they even helped us decide on our new venue. I had never used catering before, aside from my own wedding, so I didn't even know what I wanted/needed. Juan and his crew catered my wedding of 80 guests. Everything was delicious, but we particularly loved the entrees: roasted tri-tip with chimichurri sauce and salmon apricot lime glaze. We did a tasting to select the menu items and Juan was very receptive to adjusting the dishes to suit our requests - e.g, making things more spicy, nuts on the side, etc. Juan was very accommodating of our guests with dietary restrictions (vegan, vegetarian, allergies) and made sure everything was prepared and delivered accurately. We both were very interested in doing a taco bar for our wedding, and Elisa's had such an amazing set of options, especially for all vegetarians and vegans. Juan was very accommodating in helping us choose a menu for our baby's first birthday party lunch, drop off delivery and food table setup at the hall. DJ'd a retirement party last night and Elisa's Catering delivered platters of foods that immediately went cold (crab cakes, chicken skewers, bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos, and pork wonton pouches). They didn't provide any sort of chaffer to keep anything warm, so after the first few minutes all the foods were entirely cold and unappetizing. I sampled everything except the crab cakes (not a fan of crab), and I thought the foods were lacking in flavor. Not sure allowing warm foods to sit without heat is a wise decision OR a health issue, but I was disappointed in the product and presentation. read more

Juan and his staff were amaaaazing! They catered my wedding recently. The food was delicious and the presentation was gorgeous! He and his staff were so accommodating. My husband and I enjoyed every step of working with him. We went in for the tasting and he was extremely vigilant and safe in how he presented us the food (because of covid). Needless to say, during our wedding, he and his staff were just as safe. He is very honest and made us feel comfortable from the first meeting to the last. I did not have any worries that he would deliver. And he sure did! Everyone at our wedding was commenting on how good the food was! His knowledge of cuisine and what pairs well is extensive. And from what we gathered, he can pretty much cook up any type of cuisine! They were truly awesome. We plan to see if they are available for all of our future events! They were so amazing and made our wedding go so smoothly! Our wedding was supposed to take place in 2020 but got delayed and Juan was so patient and so easy to work with. The food was delicious (we had the taco bar) and they were just very thoughtful. After the ceremony, the wedding party was taking pictures in an area away from cocktail hour and they brought down a couple trays of appetizers for us. It was very much appreciated, especially because we were so busy I don't think I would have gotten to eat them otherwise! Every guest complimented us on how well the day went and a lot of that was how on-top-of-everything Juan and Brandy were. They also made set-up and take-down go so quickly! We just had Juan and his crew cater our daughter's wedding. I cannot say enough great things about them! We had a taco bar, and the food was fantastic. His appetizers and desserts were delicious as well. He made everything easy for us and was always there for us when we had questions or needed to make changes. They went above and beyond all of our high expectations. He even pitched in to help us find a new venue when our original one was canceled 2 weeks before the wedding. He was so flexible and even adjusted ingredients to deal with some allergy problems with some guests. The setup was great, and they had the entire venue cleaned up in 45 minutes or so, leaving it in great shape. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. We are so happy we found Elisa's catering. Juan can provide so many different menus that I am sure he can meet your needs. Don't even think about it. Juan did a fantastic job catering for my daughter's High School Graduation party. He was flexible with the menu and able to provide a variety of yummy items that satisfied our vegetarian guests as well as the meat eaters, the braised beef was out of this world! He did a great job on the portions and helping to determine what would feed our crowd of 75. I would hire him again in a heartbeat if we had an occasion to celebrate. Hiring Elisas catering was the best decision my wife and I made for our big day, plain and simple. We spoke with numerous companies in the Bay Area to cater our September wedding with little success (we were met with voicemails that turned into unreturned phone calls and best of all questionnaires... a lot of hoops just to talk to someone on the phone!). Juan got back to us the same day we called and was enthusiastic about doing the event. From our first phone call, Juan bent over backwards to go above any beyond for our wedding. Over the course of the wedding process Juan demonstrated his experience in the industry and his ability to deliver an incredibly well catered event. He and his team were  reliable, cool under pressure, consistent at making walk through meetings at the venue and great at problem solving (things often will not go according to plan initially  due to venue, budget and time restrictions for your day - a person that can think quickly on their feet is invaluable before and during the wedding).  In addition Juan was very organized, professional and easy to reach. Our guest raved about the food - the apps were fantastic both delicious and great to look at. The prime rib and chicken entrees were a huge hit. We also had a taco truck at the end of the night that blew everyone away! Juan made it easy to tweak the menu and was an overall rock star.
