The staff was pretty rude and they were sold out of pizza puffs, pepperoni pizza, Serra mist, and French fries. No BS they close for the season on Memorial Day I guess? None the less people that are rude are rude no excuses & trust me they are rude. Plus no draft beers

A fun place for the whole family. Great selection of food and drink. They even have slot machines to play for those who aren't bowling.

The lane kept malfunctioning and continuously had to ask for help. They did nothing to assist with the delay.

Everything was flavorful and well put together, and it made for a great dining experience in the moment. The atmosphere was also nice, and overall it felt like a solid spot to grab a meal. The only downside was that the food ended up making my stomach hurt afterward, which took away from the experience a bit. Still, based on taste alone, it was impressive, and I'd consider going back while maybe trying something different next time.

Nothing pretentious or phony about it and that was the draw for me. Came in on a cold and snowy Wednesday night and while there weren't many patrons there the vibe was great. Waiter was attentive and friendly as we ordered fresh made chips and guacamole, steak salad for my wife and a build your burger with fried egg & provolone w/fries on a pretzel roll. You can tell that the chefs in the back take pride in what they do as the food was some of the best pub food I've had. Extensive and great drink selection too. From local breweries to the name brands you know they have a beer for all palettes. Wine and liquor selection looked decent too For me, it's a bit of nostalgia as I remember this is how pubs used to be. If you're likeminded, you'll be a fan too

I love a good dive bar but Eaton's has probably been the weirdest dive bar I have ever been to…read more After getting carded, the bartender made it very clear that they only accept cash, how old school! But I didn't care, cash is all I had. I have been to some seedy bars but Eaton's was straight up scary! I was afraid to touch anything in fear I may leave with a disease. Décor: The set up was super simple, mainly made up of a colossal bar that took up most of the place. There were some booths and couple of tables along the walls, but that was about it. The walls are made up of wood paneling and exposed brick, while the ceiling was made up of some antique moldings. There are only 2 restrooms, 1 men's and 1 women's, that don't have paper towels. They have that revolving towel in the machine that just rotates the same sheet over and over, nastiness. There is a pool table stuffed in one of the corners of the bar along with a couple of slot machine-like arcade games, very fitting for the casino town. The Crowd: Like any dive bar it doesn't exactly attract many posh patrons which is why I like them! If I wanted to hang out with preppy brosef's I would go to a club. Service: A-ok, not too welcoming when you first enter but after they card you & order a couple of drinks they seem to warm up a little. Liquid Courage On Tap: Bud, Bud Lite, PBR Originally I was going to order something in a can or a bottle, just to protect myself from any herpe that may be floating around waiting to infect me, but when Berto noticed they had mason jars we were drawn in. 24oz Baller mason jar of Bud for $4.50? I'll take my chances against the herpe! I think it's safe, I'm pretty sure alcohol sanitizes anyway. Right? Eats: I'm not gonna lie, I could have munched on some bar food but the looks of this fine establishment terrified me. I'm sure if you even ordered food they would have a hard time starting up the grill because it didn't seem like the sorta place you have dinner and a few drinks. They have a corn dog machine that looked like it hadn't been turned on in years. Eaton's offers a variety of bagged chips and nuts. There are also 2 liquor store like fridges filled with pop. I have to mention the pickled mystery items in the life-size cloudy jar on the bar. It was very Moe's Tavern. Sounds: Other than the drunken banter of the regulars it was karaoke night. I am always up for karaoke! I did notice the line was fairly large but I put in my request anyway. I have to give props to the KJ, he didn't waste time with filler, he got everyone up n' out and before I knew it it was my turn! Parking: It's downtown Elgin, so all street parking. Overall: Eaton's, you really freaked me out at first glance but after getting to know you I think we may have something here. I will keep a mental note to always bring cash and to eat before my outing in tackling another mason jar!

See, Grumpy Goat consists of two indoor dining areas and an outdoor seating area within a slightly larger building also that has a locker room, golf shop, and meeting room. The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable.

Although the view of the golf course was phenomenal, it felt old, worn out. Since the food was exceptional, we gave Grumpy Goat another try and went on a Thursday. This time we sat in the bar. The atmosphere was so much better. The views were the same as the dining room. The best part was that there was live music. About once a month, my husband and I go on a Thursday for dinner and the music. In the warmer weather, the music is on the terrace. We usually have the artichoke dip appetizer. I get the chicken saltimbocca, my husband gets the Jambalaya, and our daughters get the Lobster Mac and Cheese. One of our daughters and I get the Vina do Campo Ribeiro white wine, the other daughter drinks the lemon martini, and my husband gets a beer from their extensive list. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Mid-meal, our server accidentally dumped an entire Coca-Cola on my friend -- full birthday soda shower. Look, accidents happen. Glasses spill. That part we could've laughed off. What we couldn't laugh off was the absolute disappearance of management. No manager came over. No proper apology. No help cleaning. Nobody checking if we were okay. Honestly, you couldn't have found the manager at this place with a search party, a flashlight, and a bloodhound. If he was dressed as Bozo the Clown, at least then someone might've spotted him -- but apparently the invisibility cloak was working overtime that night. And the cherry on top? The Coke that soaked my friend was still sitting on the bill at the end like nothing ever happened. No adjustment, no acknowledgement, just vibes. That told us everything we needed to know about how much they care about customers once something goes wrong. Customer care: nuclear-level failure. Solid F.
