I love this place. Interest in bowling ebbs and flows. It's not exactly America's favorite pastime, but if you want a friendly, relaxing experience, this place works. Great family atmosphere. Clean bowling facility, customer service is readily available, they are quick to help get lanes for people during open bowling hours. They have a couple pool tables that you can rent and a nice arcade for the space they have. Food is decent for a bowling alley. And staff is quick to serve up your order when it's done cooking. At times it is brought to your lane that your on even. Great time and great staff. read more

So its Saturday night - league night and at 11:00 the shoe tech walks in to the bar and pleads to the 10 people left to please leave in the next 5 minutes? The 10 of us were drinking and dancing and you think it is a good idea to kick us out? A bar even a bowling alley bar is only successful with patrons. As a bartender in my earlier days I would never kick people out at 11:00. When there are people in the bar I was making money., the business was mailing manet. This really confused me. The place is ran by children and will run the only bowling alley in Elgin in the ground and this is a shame. read more

What a wonderful establishment. This is definitely a throwback to when Bowling was actually bowling! They actually have wooden lanes which is hard to find these days, None of the "boutique" stuff that you might find at a Bowlero. These people are only about everyone having a great time. The staff is super friendly and very helpful and attentive to the needs of the patrons. They even have reasonable prices for bowling, food, etc. This is a great place to take the family and unwind for a good price. read more

So i was looking to go bowling on a wednesday and i looked up lanes in elgin. This place pops up so i call to see if they have leagues and their google page says theyre closed. I check their yelp and it says theyre open so i give them a call. A younger guy picks up the phone and says theyre open till 9 and its 8. Me and a friend had time for a game or two after our 20 min drive as we know what were doing. We drive there and the lights are off and the doors are locked. I call them, no answer. I call again and an older gentleman picks up. He says he doesnt know how to work the lanes and the lane attendant left but he could look for him. He proceeds to look for him and he puts the phone down thinking i cant hear him. That conversation went like this: (older man to lane attendant) did you tell some people 20 mins ago that we were open? (Response) yeah but i said we close around nine. What, does he want to play ONE GAME? Tell him were closed. (Older gentleman agrees with a grunt and says to me) yeah he left already. I told him that i heard the entire conversation and that playing one game was EXACTLY what i wanted to do. He just stuttered till the lane attendant took the phone at which point i just said "never mind. Have a good night" and hung up. I understand closing early. Especially on a slow night. But dont just lie about being open and dont lie that youre not there when the customer believes your lie and shows up. This was beyond disrespectful and i dont recommend coming here whatsoever. The last good reviews were 3+ months ago, this place has changed and does not deserve your business. read more

The lane kept malfunctioning and continuously had to ask for help. They did nothing to assist with the delay.

The staff was pretty rude and they were sold out of pizza puffs, pepperoni pizza, Serra mist, and French fries. No BS they close for the season on Memorial Day I guess? None the less people that are rude are rude no excuses & trust me they are rude. Plus no draft beers read more

My friends and I were originally planning on going to another bowling alley but, of course, on Saturday nights most are packed with leagues. So we gave Elgin Lanes a call and found that they still had a few lanes open. Like many of these private owned bowling alleys, the place was a little outdated but seemed otherwise clean. Prices were fine: $3 a game (after 6pm), $3.25 shoe rental (prices are in the same ballpark range everywhere). Only got a pitcher of water so I can't judge the food. My main complaint is we had trouble with our lanes several times. I don't know if they're always that touchy or if we were on the bad lanes but several times the balls and pins got jammed up in back and we had to call someone over (we even had to switch lanes once). Staff was fine, no complaints there. Wasn't a bad time, still had fun, often it's more about the company, bowling is bowling unless you get grouchy if there's a glitch. read more

Went to the lanes for the first time today for a simple bowl with my bud Keith. When we arrived the manager checked us in and was kinda rude to us. He gave us a mean look and like sized us up. Really threw me off. It seemed like he didn't like our dress attire and who we were. (We are 18 wearing ripped jeans and beanies) Everything was going kinda smoothly but then we ordered a sausage pizza. When it arrived it had a weird smell, and insanely burnt on the top and edges. We tried a piece each, hoping it was just our sense of smell deceiving us and we ate a piece and was instantly disgusted and that's all we ate. After 20 min passed both of our stomachs killed us. We brought the gross pizza to the staff and asked for a refund, they gave it to us but they were insanely rude. The manager talked down to us like we were stupid saying 'I have eaten here hundreds of times' and 'I've never had an issue with our pizza' we said nothing to avoid confrontation and he didn't say anything to help resolve the issue. After this, the staff continued to approach us and interrupt our bowling saying 'You guys have to pay for this game' in a horrible tone making it seem that they don't want us there. They were very friendly to the older crowd, DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE A YOUNG PERSON LOOKING FOR FUN. You are not treated the same as the older crowd. We were stared at the ENTIRE time like we were aliens. Very very strange experience, will not be goin back. read more

Hole in the wall place foods ok lanes sucked and the place was way too cold when I was there a few months ago because the heat was out

WORST PLACE. Rudest workers, disgusting area. Toilet had bugs in it, disgusting. Ice cream machine had freezer burn and was super hard. When complaining to employee he gave me an attitude and said "ok" after every sentence like a child. Will NEVER return. read more

This place is an absolute dive. I have been holding my comments for quite a while as I bowl on a league here, but I can no longer do that. The woman who works behind the counter is absolutely the meanest, child hater I have ever met. She gladly takes our money and gives us shoes for our 4 year old then after his first game of a 75, he makes a few mistakes and she has the nerve to tell us that he is just too young to bowl. Every week she is yelling at them for one thing or another. Once she even grabbed and squeezed my sons arm to yell in his face. She is lucky I did not report the incident. Granted my kids are not perfect but if my kids try to go to use the bathroom she yells at them. So, this will be out last year on this league or at least mine. This place is not for kids. My husband and I both bowl on a league and do our best to watch them and handle things. They are not destructive, just kids who need reminders. This place also takes a game and a half to fill your overpriced food or drink orders. I would recommend absolutely anyplace else. As if the awful staff is not enough, the lane conditions are also less than desirable. My ball has been very chewed up from their equipment and no point reporting it because there is no pro shop. read more
