It is directly behind the Palm Valley Lutheran Church which is a historical building. All the graves are very well laid out and ordered primarily into family burial plots. There are acres of old headstones , recent ones and some waiting to be interred in their future plot. There is a single paved lane that runs through the center of the cemetery dividing the old and the new graves. I'm sure many of these headstones belong to the Who's Who of Round Rock and local history. This is still an active cemetery and I found several recent graves from 2022. There is also more room for additional plots on the back side should you decide this is the place to be your forever home. The church had a historical marker, but I did not see one for the cemetery. The pictures in this review don't fully capture just how beautiful this place is.

Most of the graves here are after the year 2000 and most of them have the name McShan. Several of the headstones actually have photographs of the decedents posted on them. It's quite clear that the McShann family was of African descent. There are still a few graves that have no headstones, only the funeral home plaque. There is still room for about another hundred graves.

The cemetery is quite large as it sits on 99 acres. It does have a small parking lot for about a dozen cars and porta potties. If you qualify for a Travis county burial, you are entitled to a 20 minute service for a group of up to 20 people. They do offer a 9:30 am and an 11:30 am service time. Travis county has two such cemeteries, this being the largest one. At this point in time, there's only a few hundred burials here, and there is a section set aside for infants and children. The graves are laid out with concrete borders with name plates on the border itself, but you can erect your own small head stone should you choose. It sits directly behind the walnut creek Baptist church on top of a hill. There are graves that date as far back to the 1880s, but most are from the 20th century and newer. It is a well-maintained and manicured cemetery with a road that allows you to drive into it. The most notable names I saw in numbers here were Gault and Neans. To a lesser extent there was also Morrow and Sweet. I did not find a Texas historical marker nor did I see anywhere that had a full listing of those interred here. It's possible the church next to the graveyard may well have that information. The cemetery appears to have almost reached near capacity, but there's still a little space left for future residents. Though it is next to the road it still sits on private property. If you try to go past the gate on the property you will set off an alarm. It occupies roughly about 4 acres and most of the burials have taken place in the last 50 years. There are quite a number of service members buried here, but I did not find any WWI vets. This cemetery was obviously established back in the late 1800s because today it sits on some very…read morevaluable real estate. In other words, when this graveyard was established, I 35 was probably a two lane dirt road with horse and buggies going back and forth. Today it literally sits on the northbound feeder road of I 35 and the corner of Dean Keeton with thousands of cars rushing by. It has two points of entry along the feeder road with a gravel road running through the middle of the cemetery linking both of them. It is at least 3 to 5 acres in size and there are hundreds of headstones. Much of the cemetery is organized into family plots with their surrounding borders. The cemetery could use some work, as the grass was unmowed, the trees looked really scraggly, the entrance gate was broken off and there were a number of toppled headstones. There are quite a number of graves from the late 1800s, but the majority are from the early 20th century. I spotted quite a number of woodmen of the world headstones, which are quite common in this area. There may be some notable names interred here, but I did not spot any. There are a handful of graves that have been visited in the last few months, but it's quite clear that many have long since been forgotten. I did spot a few graves from the early 2000s up to 2019, but nothing from the last year or two. Plenty of photos included to peak your interest.

It is a small family cemetery, but it does have one or two names associated with other cemeteries in this area. One name I found was Lawhon, which is the name of another cemetery not far from here (see separate review). The headstones appear to have been cleaned and apparently it is filled with wild flowers in the spring time.
