There are about four graves just a few feet from Beaver Road and a few more fenced in headstones are located another 200 feet beyond them. The graves within the fenced in area are from the early 20th century. All but 6 of the graves have since toppled over. This is most likely another graveyard of African descent due to all of the African white irises planted in the area. The fenced in graves located out of view from the road date from the late 1800s to around 1930. It would be great if this cemetery could be reclaimed from the ravages of nature and it's headstones restored to the original positions. Hopefully the photos below might inspire that endeavor.

It sits next to Elgin Elementary school and across from Elgin intermediate school. Behind the cemetery is a small park with a pond. There are many graves from the 1800s, but this is still an active graveyard with some fresh additions. If you're looking for a particular grave, they do have a records building, but you will have to call the number pictured below to make an appointment. The cemetery has three entrances which allow for cars to drive in on the gravel roads. I was surprised not to find a Texas historical sign, only a marker. It is located on a very peaceful country road with cows grazing next it and there is a structure on the property that likely doubles as a church or school. The cemetery itself is split in half with the school house sitting in between. There is a Texas historical sign pictured in this review that is very informative. There are some headstones from the 1800s but the majority appear to be from the 20th century. The cemetery has the largest number of Woodmen of the world markers that I've seen located in one place. However, as the historical sign says, there was a Woodmen of the world lodge at this location. This appears to still be an active cemetery as there was a fresh grave from May 2022 on one side and a half a dozen or so on the opposite side. There also sits close to an acre of vacant land next to the property which appears to be dedicated towards future interments. Definitely a peaceful and pleasant place for your forever home.

The cemetery is surrounded by farm land on all sides which adds to its peaceful nature. The graves here span from the 1870s all the way to the present day. Despite being located way out in the country, it has been well taken care of over the years and the gravestones are in very good condition. This is still a very much active graveyard as there were several fresh graves from 2022 awaiting headstones. I found this cemetery to be very interesting and diverse. They wouldn't even schedule the funeral until after the meeting so it was going to be 2-3 weeks away. This was their policy even though we'd planned and paid for everything in advance only a few weeks before. We call Brad and they were able to accommodate us immediately. Everything was arranged perfectly and with dignity. The cost was half of what we had arranged with the other home. I could not be happier with Providence-Jones.

There are hundreds of graves sitting on this acreage. Despite the fact that the grounds are mowed, many of the gravesites are in disarray with crooked and fallen over headstones. Another aspect of this place is the large number of handmade concrete markers with handwriting which were very inexpensive to make. For the most part the cemetery is fairly well ordered but there is some randomness to it as well as far as how the graves are arranged. This may still be an active cemetery, although the newest interment I could find was from 2020. The photos included in the review tell the rest.

As the name of this cemetery implies, its residents are almost entirely Hispanic. The majority of the graves are from the latter part of the 20th century and many are from the last 20 years. The oldest headstones that I could find dated from the 1940s. The good news is that if you're looking for your forever home, there's still room available here. Not only is this still an active cemetery, but it's quite clear that many surviving family members continue take care of the graves of their loved ones. The photos below clearly show their devotion.
