Tried the Philly Cheesesteak Omelette for breakfast and YUM. We've been here twice and each time everything was good including the coffee.

Good old fashioned breakfast comfort food. Yum, and reasonably priced. Good service, coffee and hot off the griddle.

The building has been many other restaurants that couldn't make a go of it and last but I think Blue Heron is here to stay. Decorated in blue and white with black trim this place has a very clean look. I thought booth upholstery was nicely done. In the past it this interior was loud and echoed. Now it's been dampened some but we could clearly still hear the bar patrons from across the room. We had a reservation and Tessa (not sure of spelling) seated us and handled our table. She was good. Friendly and efficient. All I saw were young girls waiting tables. The menu has a bit of everything and I think they change it from time to time. They have seafood, shellfish in abundance. Mrs Billy D had the Parmesan encrusted Cod and it looked great. She loved it. I had their fish and chips. Next time I'll get the Cod. They have an Angus burger at 1/3 pound too plus shrimp and prawns dishes, clam linguine and others. They have a decent wine selection and have wine related events throughout the year. We ordered the warm bread appetizer which is sourdough sliced and toasted with an olive oil and parmesan dipping plate. We also got the bacon wrapped dates. They were fantastic. They might have been grilled or baked. So much flavor and they came drizzled in some kind of sweet chili sauce. They have a blackberry lime margarita which is what we chose. Mrs Billy D loved it and she is a margarita snob. Prices are on par with every other decent place and we got out of there for around $150 with a tip. Now that we know more we will be back.

I guess we all came at once. Well, she messed up the first cocktail, did well on the second and made up for the weak first one! She really was great. Worked hard and was obviously responsible. The menu was limited and disappointing. Had the fish tacos, the fish was cooked correctly but I believe it was improperly defrosted. Rubbery. I remember coming here several years ago, the menu was different and the food was good. It was a lot better than it is now.

I enjoyed the evergreen omelet, subbing the meat out for mushrooms and I was not disappointed. So savory and filling served with a side of breakfast potatoes and a coffee. I enjoyed my breakfast while sitting outside on the patio, a sunny morning overlooking the golf course. Option two: Dinner. My favorite to order here has always been the grilled salmon tacos that come with a side of tater tots. Coming from SoCal i was surprised to have tater tots with my tacos, but they are so delicious and so addicting. This time instead of salmon I went for the grilled cod taco and I subbed the tots out for a side salad. Well, the cod was delicious! So tender, juicy, flaky, grilled to perfection with the perfect crunchy cabbage base and fresh salsa on top. The salad was so fresh and tasty. We rounded out our dinner with a beer on tap. Once again we sat on the patio enjoying a beautiful evening with delicious food and good company. Option three: happy hour. We ordered off the happy hour menu ( I think it rotates). We tried the dynamite shrimp tacos - what not to love! Great sauce on top. The beef slider- a perfect mix of sweet and savory. With the bacon and sauce it almost tasted like beef candy. And a side salad. Once again we ordered beer on tap. We sat inside this time in the dining area where there is a big fireplace. Must be nice and cozy on cold winter days. The taco raised our curiosity about taco Tuesday. So... Option three: taco Tuesday. The special was the dynamite shrimp taco plate served with chips and salsa. Then we tried the margarita flight. That's three different flavor margaritas. The waitstaff is always so helpful and friendly. Like family Most of them are local. You can't find nicer people than the locals on Camano Island. .

Five months ago, on a Saturday or Sunday, my boyfriend and I had lunch at The Baked Cafe. The burgers were good, the buns were mediocre, and the fries were outstanding. The meal was over $40, without drinks. The owner was the only person working. After reading other reviews, we expected a wait, but over a half hour was excessive. There are only two booths, and we were lucky to get one. Because of this, you may end up taking your food to go or eating outside. I left a honest review after our experience, and the owner responded (more like reacted) quite unprofessionally. He mentioned Wednesdays; we were not there on a Wednesday. He mentioned that if we prefer "nutty" (it's Nutty's) or "five guy" (it's Five Guys), that he "felt sorry" for us. Well, I won't feel sorry for him when his business fails.

Anyway there's plenty of seating around the bakery we just happen to get things to go on the way off island.
