I was sad I didn't get a chance to meet Donovan himself, but the bartender we had was so sweet! Highly recommend grabbing a bite from the snack bar at Nancy's, sitting on the wharf, and then grabbing a Dirty Banana or another delish frozen drink from Donovan's!

My friends ordered the tacos and I felt "when in Rome" and had the fried seafood plate which had fish, scallops, shrimp, and fries for $35. While I liked the restaurant overall this was not worth $35. My meal had three scallops and 2 of them were smaller and a little mushy. Then were were 4 shrimp that weren't bad. The fish was on the smaller end and tougher than I thought it would be. I understand it's Martha's vineyard and things are more expensive there but this was steep for the quality. My friends liked their tacos as well- they just mentioned that having a third taco instead of just the two would have been nice. I would recommend Sandbar though for anyone who wants a fun environment. I'd even go back- but I'd make sure to try something else.

The food was very good overall and definitely better than what you'd expect from a casual outdoor dining spot. Drinks were excellent, the entertainment added just the right touch, and the whole experience felt effortlessly fun. My only suggestion for improvement would be the barbacoa tacos. The version we had was more like shredded beef and a bit dry. True barbacoa is rich, tender, and full of flavor, so I know this dish could be even better with a few tweaks. Also offer a fish taco. The shrimp tacos are good, but everyone knows there's no New England shrimp. Or at least have a fish and chips option. There's plenty of cod and haddock. Heck a fish sandwich would suffice. That said, one menu item certainly won't keep us away. Noman's has created something special--a place where families gather, friends reconnect, visitors feel like locals, and summer memories are made. We are locals and frequent this place, so we'll definitely be back.

The next thing you'll notice is that the staff is very friendly and really trying to manage the chaos that is being caused by a chaotic kitchen. We were seated directly in-front of the kitchen, so we saw everything: - two or three wait staff anxiously waiting for orders in front of the service station (pick-up) area; - a chef continually looking at an inappropriate movie that was playing on a screen that was oddly positioned where the kitchen staff could view it (WHY) - a kitchen staff that was either doing nothing or working frantically - this is an indication of very poor management; - mediocre appetizers but passable - the entrées were ridiculously poor. I'll only describe mine to save time, but trust each of four were failures. The nerve to send to the table a beautiful piece of blue fin tuna that smelled like the gas used by a small propane gun, that had been partially burned - like on 1/2 of the fish. This shows zero respect for this beautiful creature or the people who ordered it. The lobster risotto that was beneath the fish was cold, lacked any flavor of lobster, and looked as though it had been thrown on the plate from across the room, and then to have the nerve to charge $60 + dollars is ridiculous. We of course requested to speak with the manager, who immediately came to our table, empathized and apologized, we felt heard. He then comped our entire meal which was very generous and appreciated. The chef then came over to apologize, and stated, "I'm so sorry, we dropped a pan and that threw everything off". WHAT? Buddy, we sat there and watched the chaos in your kitchen. The problemS, are not the result of a dropped pan. Apology appreciated, lame excuse was unnecessary and again demonstrated a lack of respect or intelligence. I may return alone, just to see if anything has changed or what show is on the TV.
