Terrible customer service. It is extremely difficult to speak to anyone via telephone and the lines at every branch are ridiculous. Doesn't matter what time or day. Just closed my account and took my business back to Navy Federal Credit Union. read more

Elevations credit union is one-of-a-kind! I have a used vehicle loan and a savings account with elevations. After shopping around with over a dozen banks, Elevations offered me the most money with the lowest percent interest. If you are from out of state and trying to decide which bank is best for your son or daughter, choose any bank but this one. The staff are, as indicated in other reviews, very nice. The on campus branch location and proximity to campus ATMs may lead you to believe the services are meant to appeal to college students and minimize fees. Not so. Accounts are set up in such a way to maximize fees, but you'll only figure this out after the fact or if you read the fine, fine print. I have been a customer for almost a year and in that time things have gone from okay to terrible. They have authorized multiple services that I did not ask for nor want. They decided instead of letting a card decline for no money they will transfer money at a fee to the customer without their knowledge. I had some fees reversed in branch however I am unable to transfer any funds to pay bills due to the 6 transfer per month limit being run out by their transfer service that again, I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. They have begun to exhibit many of the predatory practices of institutions like Wells Fargo and I can no longer recommend this place in good conscience. read more

After being a member for almost 20 years, I'm finally fed up and going to do my banking somewhere else. Policy changes that have occured over the last few years under new management have made this credit union like any other banking institution. Increased credit card and auto loan rates, low savings rates, limited credit card & savings options, account inconsistencies between online and moble options, low knowledge employees, and customer service limited to citing their poor policies. A few examples of their shenagins: When purchasing an out of state vehicle, it took them 3 weeks to figure out how to do taxes and title transfer correctly and 2 months to complete the whole transaction. (Luckily I had a patient seller) They incorrectly suspected fraudulent charges on my credit card and instead of contacting me they just blocked the account. After being declined at the gas station by my house I contacted them to see what was going on. I asked why they didn't reach out to me before shutting the card off. Their reply was "You should call us." Really? So I need to call my Credit Union every day to see if my credit card is going to work. The magnetic stripe on my card became unreadable, so I had them send me a new one in the mail which would take 7 days. In the mean time my cell phone broke while working out of town. I went to buy a new one and the card was declined. Apparently they turned it off because the new one should have arrived and they can't have two cards active on an account. I pointed out that the new card sitting in my locked mailbox had not been activated. This didn't matter. They were able to turn my old card on for the rest of they day, but after that I'm on my own. Luckily I had other forms of payment, otherwise I would have been out of luck. Elevations has lost their value as a Credit Union. I don't know who they're working for but it's not the interests of their members. I don't recommend their advice or services to anyone. read more

Awful. They didn't tell me that a check I had deposited had been declined (even though the account it came from had sufficient funds) and no doubt would have charged me overdraft fees if I hadn't caught it myself, which was very helpful during a pandemic where money matters even more. Thought a credit union would mean caring about customers. Also, the app is garbage. read more

Very disreputable business. We had $25 left in my sons account and they charged bank fees and closed the account without notification despite having our contact info. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that managers don't speak directly with customers! read more

An utterly untrustworthy place to bank. We had a home loan with them during the banking crisis, and rather than work with us they did everything Colorado law now forbids: changing bank representatives, "negotiating" a refinance when no such refinance was actually in the offing, leaving us waiting for hours at the bank to talk to an officer and finally being sent home when they all left at the end of the day, etc. This credit union is a BANK, and a sleazy one at that. We eventually got our home back, but at dear cost and much suffering. Add to this that I have since found that they diverted our cash mortgage payments into their own pockets simply because they could lose track of cash. This place isn't just bad; they are criminal. Stay away, especially if you plan any secured loan. read more

People like to tell you that banking with a credit union is much better than a traditional bank because they care about their members. Not this one. I've never dealt with any bank that made its customers jump through more hoops just to pay their bill, then take absolutely zero accountability for it. Don't be fooled. read more

The WORST banking experience ever. I deposited a check that they wouldn't accept on mobile so I physically deposited it at a machine. Because I wrote "mobile deposit" they deemed the check no good. That's fine, but no one notified me. My account reflected a positive balance that evening when I looked online. I had a bill to pay so I wanted to ensure that the check had gone through. The next day, I go the store to make a purchase only to be told "insufficient funds". I then looked at my account and see that the balance was still positive, however, they charged me several processing fees. So I call them, and they explain the situation. The issue is that if the check was deemed no good, then how come I wasn't notified? Why is it still reflecting a positive balance? The rep couldn't answer my questions so I ask to speak to a supervisor. She comes back to tell me there is no supervisor I can speak with. No Supervisor. Great. Total lack of customer service. It's so bad that I'm going back to Bank of America. read more

An Elevations ATM at the diagonal bank ate $1,100 cash I deposited. It literally took the money then said bye - no receipt - no confirmation of the amount it took in! Eeek! I called customer service while still parked in front of the ATM and the person who answered was very non chalant about the whole thing. He would send AN EMAIL. Yes, AN EMAIL to so and so... Gee - how nice I thought. I asked him how long this process would take. Uh, he said, in a very relaxed tone, you'll get a call tomorrow. And then they would talk to me about how long it would take.... Oh reeeeeeeally? I'll get a call as a result of your EMAIL. That's so reassuring - and hopefully I'll be credited MY $1,100 ELEVATIONS STOLE, before my Amex bill is due - otherwise will they give me the 24.99% interest I'll pay because of their Effed up ATM? Nope... is my guess. But they would gladly take their fee if a payment bounced because of it. Then I was the one who took the initiative to give the customer service agent the code off of the ATM. And then he kept forgetting or mistaking which branch I was at. "Di-Ag-O-Nal..." I finally said. "Is there just one ATM there?" he asked. He doesn't even know that there are like FIVE of them at that branch! Who is this person? I didn't get the feeling at all that the loss of over $1000 in cash really mattered that much to the bank or caused any sense of urgency. It's almost like the bank is set up to be a-holes at first because they don't trust their customers. Maybe they are nice when days later they finally see that INDEED one of their branch ATMs -the Di-Ag-O-Nal branch, indeed ate (11) $100 bills that belong to one of their customers. But maybe not, I mean $1100 is like pennies for them. It was truly unbelievable that trying to DO THE SAFE thing and put cash in my account, was actually the stupidest thing I could have done as a severely disappointed customer of Elevations and what bothers me most of all is the absolute lack of urgency or reassurance I was given that this money would go into my account! Gee - sorry I'm upset, this could set off a domino effect for paying bills. I'm feel very blessed I'm not some single mom, putting my money in to pay the rent or something. I think this alien customer service person would likely not give a F*&$ all the same. When first banking with Elevations I was a happy customer. The last few years the bank has gone down hill. read more

Entirely unprofessional mortgage/refi experience here, which I will describe momentarily. But first, a quick summary of my other experiences there. The tellers and regular banking staff I've worked with at this branch have always been professional, which is why I'm giving them 2 stars. The location is convenient, and the wait time both to conduct business with tellers and to meet with other bank staff is kind of slow. Not glacially slow. But slow nonetheless. The bank will charge you a $25 membership fee, which is refundable when you close your account. However, you will need a minimum $25 account balance throughout the time you bank with them. Just a head's up on that. But if you are shopping for a mortgage or refi, **TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!** I originally took out a mortgage here in early 2010. My loan officer (now stationed at the Table Mesa branch), was not great but passable. She was spacey and floated in and out of contact... That should have been a red flag, but I was fortunate enough to have a stellar real estate agent that had my back and kept her on task. In mid-2011, I attempted to refinance. I contacted the same loan officer, who started the refi process. Long story short, she made a mistake and initiated a mortgage that Elevations in fact couldn't honor. Instead of admitting as much, she lied about some federal regulations changing (they had in fact changed 18 months ago, before my original mortgage was even in the works - she acted suddenly very confused when I pointed this out), and tried to pressure me into a 5-yr ARM by telling me I had 24 hours to make a decision, then changed her mind and said I could take more time to make a decision. I refused the ARM and when I asked for a reimbursement for the $500 that had been drawn for the appraisal, she said she wasn't sure I could get it back, then said I might be able to get some but not all of it back. I hung up, called her supervisor and complained. Her supervisor, Lisa, apologized and suggested I work with her directly. Same high pressure sales tactics - first for a mortgage whose monthly payment was over half of my monthly pay (!!), second for the same piece of s**t 5-yr ARM. I declined both "deals" and stated I needed to be reimbursed ASAP. She agreed but informed me that it would take a few days. The following week I left for a long trip in the mountains and 10 days later re-emerged to an unchanged bank account. I left a nasty voicemail - she feigned surprise at the situation, but promptly reimbursed me that very same day. That finally ended the 6-week-long fiasco, but it made me question why two weeks prior it was a process that needed a "few days" when I was coincidentally about to leave on a trip... the cynical person in me has a lot to say about that, but I will let you draw your own conclusions, dear reader. My take home lesson is that there are much more honest and pleasant financing institutions to be found in Boulder County. read more

Rather than being headquartered in some low tax state Elevations is, from my experience, a community centered financial institution invested in the communities Elevations serves. During the 2008 financial meltdown other banks I invested in either collapsed or were bailed out by tax payers. Not at Elevations where my accounts remained stable. Great service in the bank. So-so service when it comes to house loans and car loans. Absolutely terrible service and reliability when it comes to credit cards. Seriously. Do NOT trust that your Elevations credit card will come through for you when you need it. I have had multiple experiences when I had almost no credit used up, my limit is in the 5 digits and payments for a couple of thousands for air faire or similar will still fail. Talking to Elevations representative is pleasant but useless. not a single time have they managed to resolve this issue. Last time my mother was on her death bed. Due to the issues with Elevations it took 2 days more until I could purchase the plane tickets to go and see her. I had to by the tickets with another credit card (AmEx) who came through for me and raised my credit enough to do the purchase. I probably talked 10 times with Elevations to fix this and they could not. In the end the 2 day delay caused me over $2000 USD. That's how much air faire for my family increased during that time. I did contact Elevations and complained. Do you think I got an apology? No. I did not. read more

I got my first account at CU federal credit union (now elevations) in 1986 when I was a junior in high school. I have had various accounts and loans there up until 2016. Unfortunate to say I am closing all my accounts. All the customer relation aspects of why you would join a credit union seemed to have left around the time they changed their name. Their auto loan department which used to be interested in getting it's members the best deal, is now interested in getting it's stake holders the most money it can from its members. So sad as it is, after 30 years, see you later Elevations, you're just another big financial institution that could care less about the customer. read more

I have been with Elevations Credit Union for over 10 years (I signed up as a freshman at CU when it was the University Credit Union), and have been so pleased that despite moving away from a branch, I still bank with them even though I have to use member branches for my daily transactions. I recently had an experience where I deposited a large amount of cash to a member branches ATM and was given an error message and the cash not deposited to my account nor returned to me by the ATM. I contacted Elevations, and from start to finish they handled everything for me. I had attempted to get the issue resolved through the member branch (not Elevations Credit Union) who essentially told me there was nothing they could do nor an answer they could give me as to where the money went (the worst answer a bank can give a person). Meredith in the Elevations Credit Union fraud department gave me the service that was the opposite of what I received from the other credit union. She assured me it would be resolved (even if they ended up having to eat the loss), and she did get it resolved. Every transaction and interaction I have had with Elevations has been top notch, and my experience with Meredith highlights that. Because of this experience, and all prior with this credit union, this year I will be refinancing my mortgage so that I have it through Elevations and when I trade my car in, my loan will be through Elevations as well. It is so important to know that if something bad and out of your control happens, that your financial institution has your back 100% and will get the issue resolved- and this is exactly what you get from Elevations; top notch customer service and a financial institution you can trust. read more

If I could give a zero I would. Do not do business with this credit union, ESPECIALLY if you are a small business. They have no idea what they are doing and have cost my business thousands of dollars. They have been telling clients who we have submitted for financing that they have no idea who we are and referring these clients to the competition! When we brought this to the president the response was "I don't know what to tell you." Absolutely disgusted by the unprofessionalism. read more

I have dealt with many banks in my time and had all levels of confusing fees, ridiculous rules, and rude tellers/bankers... This place takes the cake. The mortgage processing company is terrible! I had an insurance settlement which they have TOTALLY screwed up. Many meeting and phone calls later MAYBE we're finally going to get our money. Very unprofessional - you'd hope that bankers could keep track of numbers and money. I feel like I had to fix and explain the problem to them. I've banked here for over 30 years but probably will not ever get a mortgage through then again. In their favor, all the people I dealt with at the local branches have been very nice and helpful. I recently bought a car for my daughter in April of 2015. Elevations was the chosen bank by the car dealer to finance our load. It has been my experience that most CUs are all about the same so we signed all the paperwork. My experience with Elevations has been ... well, less then horrible. I received a welcome letter 2 weeks after we bought the car totting how great they were and how pleased they were that we had chosen them. The next contact was your load is due today and you need to make a payment NOW. I never received instructions on how to make payments, no coupon book ... nothing. I call and make the first payment. I tried to change the address so that my daughter would receive all the statements and such and they flat out stated no. I was on the loan and they could only send the information to me and that the car had to be kept at my address. After another week the letters started about needing proof of insurance NOW or they would add $500+ to the load so THEY can buy insurance. In all the loans I have had with cars, I have NEVER had to do that. I would give them my Insurance Company and account at the time of the purchase and that was it. These letters have started up once again to log on to show proof of insurance. We get that taken care of. I move to Washington and have all mail forwarded. I try to call them to change my address and they state that I can not do it over the phone. I have to either log on to the account and to it or send them a letter by snail mail. I try to log on but can not. I call their number and the only way to get a password change is to send a notarized letter. I was able to go to a local CU to move funds into my Elevations account and have had to call them once again. They were able to move the funds from the account to the loan but they are still refusing to change my address. I only hope that it is forwarded. If you have any other choices, do NOT choose Elevations. It has been the worst banking experience I have EVERY had. read more

Based on my exp. with Elevations (CUFCU) I don't understand why people think that credit unions are so great. I've gotten much better checking accounts at 1st Bank and First National Bank over the years. I stopped using Elevations after one rude teller experience. I drove up just before closing and got the tube to send my transaction in. While I was filling out the slip, the teller locked the airway so I couldn't send it back. I had to lay on the call button in order for her to even tell me that they were closed but she cut me off before I could tell her I had the tube. I left it on the ground, but I wish I had run over it. read more

Great for everyday banking; checking and savings. I have been with them since 1997 and they have always been my primary bank - even living out of state for 10 years. I love, love, love this place! I used to bank at a big national chain before and will never again! They work with me to make sure I don't incur endless negative balance fees and the like when I have the occasional money crisis. Just moved to the area and had to change banks. I've always done most of my banking with the Big Banks, but have had car loans with Credit Unions, so this time decided to try a credit union for all of my banking. Elevations has the mobile and online features I've come to rely on so i gave them a shot. Can I say they have been great! With the move in location and the move with banks I've had to reset all of my online payment information. I made the mistake of attaching my Elevations Savings account info to many of my payees when I meant to attach my checking info. Needless to say this led to several headaches on my part, but every time I quickly got an Elevations Representative on the phone and they quickly took care of the issue. Big banks would not do that. Worst banking experience ever. I've been a customer for nearly 20 years but the last couple have me wondering why. Terrible customer service and misleading "notification" settings. For over 15 years I have had consistently friendly, patient and overall excellent experience banking with Elevations. I find the bank practices that interface with public to be superior and rare in these days. I recently went thru a 4 month investigation with a big corporate bank who couldn't locate over $1600 in payments; my credit was affected. Elevations provided over 15 detailed support contacts to help me resolve another bank's error. Not once did they blame or put down the other bank, remaining helpful and objective. In the end the big bank "found" the missing money and fixed my credit. I believe it was due to the example and diligence of Elevations... ok and a little whining on my part (ps. secret to big bank resolve: consider your self with a new PT job, get the number to and call the manager department every day, keep notes). Highly recommend this Credit Union. I have had an account at this CU for 36 years & most all of my interactions have been very positive.

I have been a customer for over 4 years. Since they had a good rate, I refinanced my mortgage. I was pretty happy with the low interest at the beginning. And I made extra payments several times. One day when I checked my account, I realized that the balance increased by over $3000. When I checked all the activities, I realized that they reversed my last several payments several days ago resulting in increased balance and overdue. I contacted Elevations and asked what really happened. They gave me unreasonalbe explanations and told me that they will fix the issue in 4 business days. If I had not contacted, I would have lost $3000+? Is it a criminal? I have to keep a record of how much I paid, how much goes to principal, an dhow much goes to interest...plus how much they are taking from your payment. If you have a lone with them, be very careful. Or you will lose a fortune. read more
