This is by far the BEST HAIR SALON in Fort Wayne, I kid you not. They're slightly hidden but everyone here is friendly, welcoming, fantastic and so an amazing job. I went my first time about a month ago and I was a bit skeptical because I do not trust ANYONE with my hair. For years I have done my own hair and decided to go to a salon that eventually ended up ruining my hair and came here for the big fix! I was able to get in quickly and saw Bre Burkey. She color corrected my hair and was able to treat it so that the dry damaged hair would look just as good as it did before! She was patient with me in deciding the hair color I wanted. I went black last month and just yesterday after 7 hours of long hard work and patience, she was able to give me fabulous blonde highlights after ONE color removal! It looks beautiful, feels soft with little to no damage (despite the fact I bleach bleach bleach my hair) she is INCREDIBLE! I ended up tipping her $40 for such a fabulous job. She brought my confidence up and I definitely enjoy the entire atmosphere of this hair salon. Accidents happen where you make a mistake on your hair but all of the staff here made me feel in good hands after my mistake. They didn't make me feel like I was being judged. I see how they work around me and other clients. They're great. I will definitely be coming back. I asked for a cut, color, highlight. Loved the haircut. However, the color was not as I requested.

Update; upon my second visit I had on my calendar for Monday at 2:30 that I scheduled 12 weeks ago and a confirmation text asking me if I was coming Monday and me replying yes and the text in response saying thank you for confirming see you tomorrow! I walk in and they don't have me scheduled for today but Thursday. Aggravated I told them I couldn't come and asked if they had anyone else. There is someone coming in at 3:30 that will do it besides my regular stylist. While I am not upset and they were accommodating I did get a free eye brow waxing upon Yelp check in so I'm getting that done before my haircut. So I can say they did what they could to accommodate my needs and made one client happy. Thankful for that. He was very nice and calm and took care of me properly In my opinion. read more

As I am new to the area, I used Yelp to try to help me find a good hair salon. I should have followed my gut instinct when I pulled up to this place and saw the place from the outside. It looked as someone else stated, "sad." While all of the staff was very friendly, the professionalism was lacking. For example, the shampoo girl and another girl who helped dry my hair failed to introduce themselves. There was hair all over the floor. While I was left under the dryer once, I continuously had stuff dripping down my face with no towel to stop it. I kept using my cape trying to catch it before it got in my eyes and counted 5 different people who walked by while I did so, including the owner. None provided a towel. Also, my stylist kept rushing what she was doing with me, stating she had another appointment coming in. If you don't have time to do my hair properly, schedule me for another time. My stylist spent nearly 45 minutes talking with me about what I was looking for, which I thought was great and felt sure she understood what I wanted by that time. I showed her pictures of what I did and did not want. What did she do? She colored it exactly the color I told her I did not want. I now have mahogany red hair that looks like it belongs on a teenager or an elderly woman with very short hair. She did not have the time to do highlights, which I said I wanted when I made the appointment and during our session. I was told to wait 5 days and see if it lightened up and then call her to make an appointment for highlights. I won't even go into the haircut (if you can call it that). She barely trimmed it, not giving me the shorter, more texturized bangs I asked for. After the third time she barely trimmed the hair framing my face, I gave up. She WAS very nice and friendly, however, I wish I had never gone there in the first place. I guess I need to now invest in some hats. read more

My service at this salon was decent, but not worth the high end price. For a pricey cut and bayalage color I expect to receive something that is either is what I want, or upfront about it turning a brassy orange color so I can choose a different avenue. Now I am left with a word rose gold/orange hair color. The color on one side is a blunt line and is barely blended, while the other side is well blended into my hair. The stylists in the salon were unprofessional and hostile at times. The girl doing my hair barely interacted with me, only talked to the other stylist next to her the entire time. read more

Been here before and was pleased enough. Here today for a 9:00 AM appointment and the salon is not yet open, despite a posted 9 am opening time and 3 people waiting outside who, apparently, also had 9 am appointments. Very bad business. I'm leaving and telling my husband, who has a 9:30, not to bother coming. UPDATE: turns out the only key holder, the receptionist (??), overslept or something, the power went out during my cut twice, but Loran Jones did a fantastic job on my color and cut. Redeemed. Did great job on hubby's hair too, so we'll be back. Tip to owner: give keys to others or be there yourself to open salon early. read more

I booked an appointment online (so EASY to use, convenient, and all the prices are located on the online menu) with Abby L. in October to chop off about a foot of hair. She was wonderful & my hair cut & highlights turned out better than I could have imagined! Not only her work as a hair stylist/artist but her personality have made me feel like I've found a stylist for life. All of the girls are so friendly and make you feel comfortable & at home while you're there. I will return again & again. Abby does great work, really listens to your needs, but also has a lot of artistic input. I haven't been disappointed. I recently checked out this salon for a cut and a color. A friend of mine, Lexie, recently started her apprenticeship here so I gave it a go. It is located off of Lima Road in a strip mall...could easily be missed so pay attention! The inside was not what I was expecting from the looks of the strip mall. Very beautifully decorated and way bigger than it looks. My color and cut were awesome. I paid $75...which is on the cheaper end for us ladies. But I am pretty sure the cost was due to my stylist friend still completing her apprenticeship. They use Redken products. One downfall in my opinion is that the salon has well water. Once I was told that after getting my color washed out I instantly was nervous to see the results. Being a blonde, well water can turn your hair an golden-yellowy. Luckily they use good enough products that I didn't notice any weird coloring to my hair. read more

My Maid of Honor brought me here in 2015 for my wedding gift. Bre worked with me to figure out a style that would allow me to wear a veil for the ceremony and remove it for the reception. She made sure I was happy and didn't try to push anything that I wasn't comfortable with. She and Bill met us at the church on the wedding day and worked their magic! I visited the salon to get wash and blow dry done for the wedding I was going to. I am from NY, super picky and did extensive research prior to my appointment for a decent/clean hair salon in Fort Wayne. I didn't know what to expect, my first time in Fort Wayne - so the goal was to come out looking decent and enjoy the experience. When I pay for services, I like to enjoy the process and be pampered regardless of the cost. Bottom line, I was not disappointed. The staff and the owner all so so nice. The salon is big. I was very impressed with the products they use. All top of the line. Basically, If you are looking to get your hair done (they offer other services - I saw pedi/mani), don't hesitate. Go to Elevation. I have done all research for you and highly recommend them. It's nice and clean, friendly staff, great products, good prices - what else matters?! My simple haircut--medium length with subtle layers--ended up being pretty cheap initially but since I had to get a second haircut elsewhere it was much more expensive in the long run. The woman who cut my hair had absolutely NO IDEA how to cut layers and hair.... afterwards I had one long layer and one very short layer... it was so bad that I had to get a very short haircut one week later (after testing the bad haircut out). Alyce was awesome, however I have been there three times now; and I have only gotten what I signed up for once. I went in to get my hair colored, highlighted, trimmed and blown out...the girl gave me highlights; never colored my roots, trimmed my hair unevenly and pushed me out the door with a wet head and a marked up conditioning treatment meant to last 'weeks'...it lasted about 45 minutes. My advice: MAKE SURE you get what you paid for. Looking for a new salon. :-( read more

I was referred to Freida when I had to find a new stylist unexpectedly. Freida is friendly and professional, but I was unimpressed by the haircut and color/highlights I received. The highlights I received were OK, but I've had better. I also have a small amount of grey (mostly at one temple) and told her it would be great if she could cover up a lot of it, which she did not do. It would have only taken her an extra minute to do this... I mentioned to her at least 3 times before she cut my hair that I did not want to lose my longer pieces in the front. Well, I found those pieces in my lap with her first few cuts. I'm looking at about 8 months now to grow them back. She rushed through my shampoo and conditioning. My hair felt dry and brittle afterwards, where I'm used to my hair feeling amazing for weeks after I get it colored. She told me she would call me the following week to see if I had anything I wanted fixed or tweaked, but I never heard from her. I suspect that the majority of the problems were the salon might have booked her too busy, but that doesn't excuse the lack of following up with me nor the generally poor quality. I feel if you put me in your chair and I'm expected to pay full prices, I deserve quality results. I found the pricing quite expensive for such a rushed and unsatisfying experience. read more

I recently moved to this area and needed a good cut for short hair so relied on Yelp reviews and chose Elevation 138. I got a facial and that was excellent; very professional and good products were used. The haircut, however, was a disaster. I had a picture showing just how I wore my hair. The back was cut too short and not blended--I had a layer that looked like a bowl was put on my head and used as a template. A big hunk was sticking out behind my ear that she missed. I left and called back to say I wanted to speak with an owner or manager. The salon was very gracious and offered to fix the cut with another sylist. This one was a little better but my hair still looks so bad I considered buying a wig. I told the first sylist to make sure she didn't cut the back too short around my crown but she did--the hair sticks up like Alfalfa from Little Rascals. The second sylist told me to use a heavy gel to hold it down till it grows out. I'm not trying to be petty or mean but I relied on these reviews and am just being honest so the next person can make their decision. read more

Went last week based on positive yelp reviews. Almost didn't go in because the outside looked a little unattractive (don't be put off, it's in a little strip mall) - so glad I did! Frieda was my stylist and she was very professional and friendly. She respected my desire to not talk a lot - I appreciate that! She gave me great advice for how we could deal with my hair "issues" and she did it without a hard sell. She didn't try to hawk product and seemed only interested in doing a good job with my style. So I heard about this salon and decided to give it a go. I even brought 3 other friends with me. I wanted to color my hair pastel PURPLE. The woman there said she's not sure if she can make it that purple but it would come very close to the picture I had shown her. I agreed. I got my hair bleached to prepare for coloring. 20 minutes into the session, she put me under a steam machine and said it would take 45 mins to process. She spent the break time to cut my friend's hair. She kept convincing her to not cut her hair short because it was beautiful. She insisted on curling my friend's hair after the trim even though my friend had said no TWICE and eventually let her do it without knowing she got charged $28 (for 10 mins trim) and additional $8 hair styling. After 20 mins, she came to take me to get my hair washed. I said to her that it's only 20 mins in and not enough time but she didn't reply me. She washed my hair off, COLORED it in the washing bow and left the color in for under 6 mins. She blew dry my hair and it was bleach blonde and some white strands (no kidding, it was bleached). She kept saying how beautiful it was the whole time I sat there staring at my hair because it's not freaking PURPLE. I called in later and found out that I already agreed that the color would not be exact with the picture. I never knew I agreed to have it BLONDE though. And what's funny was that my bleaching and coloring session + friend's haircut was much faster than a friend getting a half head coloring. The moment we walked out of the salon, the woman walked out right after. It turned out because the salon had a picnic after work. Wonder if we got bad service because we are not from here? read more
