I arrived about 10 minutes early, thinking I would get a quick tutorial but I did not. Of course I have seen pilates in videos before, but did not know the terms or how to use the reformer properly. I just went with the flow of class and what the instructor was saying. From time to time, she did come to correct me, but otherwise who knows if I was doing the moves correctly. It was overall a good class, would have been better if I was given a quick run down but that was not the case.

TL:DR - highly recommend!…read more My rocksalt journey started a little over two years ago. I've tried so many group classes (kick boxing, cycling, group power, HIIT, yoga, etc) but never stayed with any, until now! I started with one class per week and now I make time to go three times, along with my other activities. I have tried 4 other Pilates studios in the PA/MP/RWC area and rocksalt is my favorite in terms of overall quality of the workout and value. Love the vibe. The owner, Christine, is a literal rockstar, absolute best! She's so fit and strong - inspiration to us all! Her classes are energetic, challenging yet fun! She was my first class and SOLD me! I feel so good and proud of myself after each workout. Also love Ruth and Marissa but all her instructors are awesome! Studio is clean, tidy and welcoming. Christine owns both the RWC and MP I've always been average build and a healthy weight. I was active and my goals were to tone up and build strength and rocksalt did that for me! Even my critical Asian mother approves - this is huge! Couple tips for newbies: 1. There are three types of classes (all 50 minutes): stretch, strength, sweat. They all have a combo of cardio and strength, depending on the type of class, the emphasis is where it differs. For your first one, I recommend "stretch". 2. Take it easy. Each instructor will give modifications for different levels. I also love that they are very gentle and discreet when correcting your form (that was me a lot in the beginning!) Don't be discouraged if you cannot do everything. 3. Pay attention to the instructor's direction on form/placement. Eg feet under the silver footbar, don't go past the shoulders. These make a huge difference. 4. Give it at least 3 classes. After my first class, I was super sore! I felt so challenged. But I persevered and so glad I did! (after 2 months, even my friends complimented that I was more toned) 5. Come early for your first class so the instructor can show you the basics. Pilates reformer classes are one of the best investments I've made for my health. I also truly enjoy the classes and being inspired by others (ladies much older than me in better shape and way stronger!). Hope this was helpful!

I always expect a challenging workout when I come here. * Instructor: I loved Anna's instruction on the movements. Yes, please! *Parking: paid street parking available. I came on a Friday morning and I parked near the library just a 4 minute walk from the studio. * Overall: Heartcore is my favorite Megaformer class in the area.

The front desk is the sweetest, and the instructors are mostly great. I've had one who needed to be smoother with changes and cues, but all were knowledgable. This will not be traditional Pilates, but with a traditional reformer, which is much better than a megaformer. Heavier weights so you will feel the burn. Slow counts and movements. Lots in hands and knees. I think I miss the footwork the most from a traditional studio, but I'll go to those classes elsewhere. They have childcare, lockers, hair ties if needed. The studio is clean, often using props such as weights or a ball. Will def be going consistently to feel a burn.

I started taking these classes in San Francisco about two months ago when my out-of-town/state/country friend was visiting SF and insisted that I take his class. I was hesitant, but finally decided that this is exactly the type of thing that is a Bay Area vibe, so when in Rome, right...? I've had mostly positive experiences at the Sun Room in San Francisco, though individual instructors will connect with different students differentially, so finding the one who best suits you is a matter of personal taste. That said, I found that my strength, flexibility, and overall sense of comfort with my body has progressed in yoga more quickly than I expected. I've been looking forward to checking out the Menlo Park location for quite some time, as it's close to my work. Last night I finally left work on time and made this happen. Firstly, the location is convenient. Right off the main street, off-street parking and plenty of it, and centrally located on the peninsula. The venue itself is clean and well-maintained, a nice combination of homey and professional. The lighting is well-done and the vibe is very comfortable. Khai's instructional style is exactly as charismatic as you would hope for a person who's new to this, as I am. He's super-friendly, welcoming, encouraging, and connected with his students. He pushes you enough without pushing you too far. In a nutshell, he's the perfect yoga instructor. I'm definitely going to integrate Khai's Wednesday night class into my rotation, going when work and other responsibilities allow. It was just a fantastic experience with friendly people in a nice environment. Check out the link if you're interested, and if it's the type of thing you'd be into, I highly encourage giving it a try.

I think my only complaint about the studio was it was a bit hard to find and the parking was not as convenient was I would like. Otherwise, I intend to go back.

I've had classes with Sarah, Marcie, Hannah, Julia, Blu, Sharone, Tricia and probably a couple of others. There are two studios which are clean and well resourced with props. They also host workshops and special themed classes like Taylor Swift, Bridgerton, etc. There isnt a full locker room like a some studios but I think that's fine, especially since there are no hot or bikram classes here. Parking can be hard since it's on a busy street and near the train station but if you give yourself ten extra minutes, you're fine.

I really wanted to like Pilates V -- the classes themselves were decent, and the instructors I met…read morewere kind. But unfortunately, the experience with their policy and customer support has been frustrating enough that I'm seriously reconsidering coming back. I've been dealing with a prolonged illness, and per their own policy, clients with symptoms are not allowed to attend class (which I fully respect). But when I reached out to explain my situation, I was only given a two-week extension -- no flexibility, no empathy, just a firm deadline. When I tried to use the remaining classes before expiration, I did not show up due to a worsening cough at the day of class-- again, trying to be responsible and follow their rules. I then received a late cancel/no show warning email, which said I'd normally be charged an extra $15 fee on top of the class I already paid for, just for being too sick to attend. Although the fee was waived this time, the tone of the message and the overall approach felt more like a punishment system than a client-centered one. The policy is confusing, rigid, and completely lacking in support for people dealing with health issues. It left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome -- not something I expect from a wellness studio.

When I got home I got an email about my bill from Pilates V which was a charge for grip socks which I did not purchase. I ended up reaching out to management for a refund. There was a couple back and forth with the emails where I had to reach out for updates. It did become a bit frustrating because I didn't talk to the instructor at all but was told that the instructor said it was me that purchased. In the end I received my refund which I was thankful for however I feel like this could have been solved in a more efficient way. I ended up not using the rest of the Groupon classes but it's a loss I would rather take than take more classes.

Apparently I don't get all this new lingo, new movement, and new positioning and am a complete retard, because I'm not catching on to each movement in under a split second! More than a few of the teachers here, were in dance companies or ballet prior to their new career in Pilates Instruction and to me, it explains everything. The attitude, the complete lack of patience and/or understanding and even the desire to help the students! Yes, I get that, we are supposed to be pushed, but honestly, sometimes (one of the teachers there specifically), seems very excited and enthused to see me fail, miserably. So my advise, if you are taking classes here (I haven't tried the private instruction, yet...) is to make sure you've got thick skin and can deal with instructors that expect the most out of you from the very start. If you are already seasoned in all Pilates, know all the lingo, names of equipment, etc... you will have no problems here. It's a great place to go for the core, and well... total body toning. As I have been searching around to see what other Pilates places are like, I noticed that the prices are particularly high in comparison to classes in San Francisco, Mountain View and Menlo Park; but at the same time, the studio is probably one of the cleanest, most well kept places I've seen, besides Maiden Lane Studios in San Francisco.
