My wife and I stayed in cabin #2 approximately two weeks ago it had large bugs and the room was dirty need updating.

We enjoyed a fun family weekend here at the Elephant Walk Main house during Easter weekend. The main house is very spacious and was so clean. The kitchen is probably the most stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental home. There were also plenty of towels and bedding at this home. We loved the large fire pit and hot tub and also that the property is pet friendly. While the beach within walking distance is not pet friendly, it was a short drive (less than 15 minutes) to nearby Warren Dunes state park that allows dogs. The owner of the home was a true delight to work with and so responsive. We will definitely return to Elephant Walk. read more

We've been to Elephant Walk twice this year. We booked Cottage 3 for our first visit, which has it's own fenced in yard, we liked it a lot. The 2nd time, we booked Cottage 5, which we liked even more because it has a screened in porch and very comfortable living space. Both were great though. Plus the beach is fantastic and the owners are super nice. We hope to get back there soon. read more

My family has had our end of summer annual family gatherings at Elephant Walk Cottages for over 10 years. It's a lovely vintage home with three adjoining cottages attached to the Main House, and two stand alone cottages. Cottages all fully equipped with one & two bedroom sleeping quarters, full kitchen, laundry, living room area, relaxing deck area, scenic backyard, walking distance to lovely beach, short drive to Warren Dunes & more! Main House is adorned with everything Elephant -- good luck & prosperity! Upstairs has four bedrooms. A lavish master bedroom with luxurious master bath! There's a deck attached to one queen bedroom that includes sofa seating turn sleeper. A second queen room is safari-decor styled and finally a twin bedroom. Main bathroom is on second level. First level has huge kitchen, & living room. There's an attached enclosed porch which opens to a huge backyard! This is an absolute gem of a vacation rental. Our family has always enjoyed it! This year unfortunately quite a few of my family members spent our week here severely affected by the moist, damp conditions that are a breeding ground for mold. You can smell the moldy, mildew conditions in quite a few areas of the home. This is quite unfortunate and the biggest disappointment that I experienced. My brother in law, nieces, sister-in-law, me.... Most of us were affected by the home & cottages moldy conditions and I'm sure the spell of rainy weather we experienced on two mornings didn't help. It's a lovely property that's needs a lot of TLC and a professional cleaning staff AFTER EACH RENTAL, (upkeep & maintenance seems to really suffer)to restore it to the beauty of its glory days that I remember in years past. Renters should be aware: The upstairs bedroom that has has connected deck, there is a hole in the wall near the floor that is uncovered. It's big enough to invite all kinds of outdoor animals in.. raccoon, possum, cats, squirrels, birds, rats, you get the idea. It may have been attached to an appliance at one time that is now removed. A lamp sits in front of it and a few articles of clothing were stuffed in it. Hardly anything that is going to keep a rodent out. After this years experience, I knew this was probably the last time our family would rent Elephant Walk for our Reunion gatherings read more

Reviews My family and I, including our dog, have been staying at Elephant Walk for the last five years. We originally stuck around for the affordability, location and dogs being allowed. Then, Erica and Fred took new ownership and we have noticed a big difference in service, communication, and accommodations while keeping the affordable pricing and dog friendly policy. They've made many improvements to pack more fun and lovely landscaping into the large shared yard space and have also refreshed the cottages with updates. We stayed in cottage 4 and enjoyed the new, cute decor, furnishings (including comfy mattresses) and extreme cleanliness with reassurance of sanitizing during Covid. Our family of four plus our large dog, usually go in the summer, but went in the fall this time. We still had a great time at the beach, which is just down the block, plus there are so many seasonal activities in the area. We went to pumpkin farms, hiking, and apple picking. Elephant Walk is the perfect central location for all of it, including restaurants and charming markets. I'm so excited to rent the whole beautiful compound for my family reunion this summer! read more

Perfect for our family, love that dogs are welcome. The quiet street is perfect for kids to ride bikes. We walked or biked to the beach, Black Current Bakehouse for donuts, Red Arrow Roadhouse for takeout(that we ate on the beach), and Whistle Stop for coffee. We will be back! read more

We stayed in Cottage 2 at Elephant Walk Resort and everything as described and pictured on the website was accurate. Perfect size for a couple and dog with all the needed amenities. Cute grounds, loved the little elephants all over. Back yard area with fire pit and chairs is super nice and relaxing. Despite all that, our vacation for some R&R was disrupted by the very thin walls between Cabin 1 and Cabin 2. You can literally hear everything that is going on. And when you have someone staying next door with unruly and crying children, it really impedes on an enjoyable getaway. So overall an awesome place, but the thin walls should be fixed. read more

We really enjoyed our week at Elephant Walk Cottages! It was very clean and well appointed! There is a huge lawn and various fire pits and a hot tub. It's a great location just a short 2 block walk to the beach. Whistle Stop is a 3 minute walk! I loved the idea of all the cottages. We met some lovely people. I would highly recommend it. This is a true gem. New owners are working very hard at updating and maintaining this huge property. A large main house and 4 cottages. We rented the main house for our family of 3 grown children, spouses and 4 grandchildren. There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you needed for food preparation. Gas stove big fridge and microwave. Granite countertops and food prep island. Big dining room and spacious living room. 4 large bedrooms. Huge master with extra large master bath. A huge back yard for kids to play, firepit for the all important s'mores. A large screened in porch for playing and morning coffee drinking! About a block and a half to the public beach. This would be perfect for a huge family reunion! read more

We rented the entire place for our wedding and it was absolutely perfect. The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, the main house and cottages are wonderful and it's walking distance to the beach and great places to eat. We would stay again in a heartbeat. read more

We stayed last weekend 6/27-29. The directions are not accurate on GPS, so remember to use the website directions. We stayed in cottage #3, and it was great! Cozy little beach cottage that was neat and clean. Lovely grounds with Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit. We were surprised to notice we had a bistro set (table and chairs) and a small grill - a great bonus. You can walk to a diner that is supposed to have good food; we opted to drive a short distance to Harbert instead (excellent food = Cafe Gulistan). The beach is convenient, and nice. We rented the Main House and attached cottages 1 and 2 for 11 people and it was absolutely perfect. The main house is spectacular, and we enjoyed all of the elephant decor. Cottages were much simpler, but more than adequate, and everything was clean and in good working order. The large yard was very well kept and lovely, and our group enjoyed the hot tub and fire pits. It's an easy walk to the beach, a restaurant and gourmet deli and an easy drive to nearby towns. Owners were helpful and always available. There is a large laundry room in the Main House that isn't mentioned in the description, and it was a great bonus. read more

We stayed the weekend of Sep 5th-Sep 7th 2014 and it was absolutely one of the best vacations that we ever had! My boyfriend and I wanted to find a nice, cozy cottage near lake Michigan, and we were definitely not disappointed. The cottage we stayed in was #5 which features it's own screened in porch, in-unit washer/dryer combo, and fenced-in backyard. We were close to the main house, but everyone on the premises was friendly. There is a communal hot tub outside, but given the right time of day, you will be able to indulge without mingling with strangers. Close to many attractions including the Four Winds Casino which is only a ten minute drive. The beach is literally a two block walk and it's very private and clean. I will absolutely return to Elephant Walk Cottages in the near future. Thanks for the great memories! read more

Never again. Rented cottage five. Found two pairs of dirty/soiled underwear in two different areas of the house. Had to sweep up the floors which were filthy upon arrival. None of us went without shoes in the place the entire weekend. I tried to make the best of it, but I should have just checked out immediately and went home. This place was very misrepresented. We chose this place because it was pet friendly---we always take our dogs. Every other pet friendly place we've been, we've had a good (and clean) experience. Even the sofa was covered in black pet hair. The place clearly had not been cleaned. I opened up the sleeper sofa and it was full of sand. There was a serious lack of housekeeping detail here. Not worth the money we paid. They left us the wrong size sheets for the sleeper bed as well. So Roger, the owner, brought us a wadded up pile of the proper size sheets---yes, wadded up, not folded. I was very disappointed---wish I would have just spent the weekend at home. If I could add pictures to this review, I would. This whole area is full of vacation rentals. This particular rental "community" appeared to be the dirtiest---we would have been better off checking out one of the other rentals in the area. read more
