The campground office was great! Girl with red hair and piercings is my new spirit animal! They were super helpful and just all around great people! The concession stand on the beach was also great! The food was nothing special but what they lack in taste, they make up for in great service! They were ready to take my order with big smiles and brought it out pretty quick! read more

We were very disapponted in this campground. The sites are too close together,so there is no privacy at all. We felt like we were camping with the neighbors. Bathrooms and showers are horrible. Warning.the men and women showers are together! No reason that a wall could not be put up between them. They need to put down gravel or some kind of ground cover. It just looks horrible!.They only good thing is that you can walk to the beach. Also why should you have to pay extra to secure your site when you have already paid for the site? Very over priced for what you pay for. They say if you don't pay the extra fee,your site number could change! We will never stay there again. Buyer beware! read more

Friendly, competent staff. We stayed at the primitive loop. There were only two other real campers in our loop. There were another four RV's that didn't have anyone in them, looked like they were just keeping their RV's there while they traveled around. Campground was clean, had moveable fire rings. The primitive loop has portable toilets, which were clean. We camped right after Labor Day, and the portable toilet company moved all the toilets to the beach, as the beach facilities were closing. I went to the Ranger station and told them, and they had 3 toilets moved back the next day. The Beach facility closed on Labor Day, so I didn't get to see what amenities they offered, but it looked like a grill and soda stand inside. There was a shaved ice trailer in the parking lot that was not open during our stay. Important note: The campground now takes reservations for campsites. A camper who came on Wednesday said that they would have to decamp by Friday, as their site was reserved by someone else on the weekend. They had been used to staying all September because last year, it was first come, first served for the camping sites. The other two camping loops looked like they had a lot of long term campers. We liked the primitive sites because it was mostly vacant during the week that we were there. It has 30 amp electric service, so it is not too primitive. There are stairs over the dunes to the beach, and you can take your dog to the dog beach, which is at the south end of Weko beach, and cross into the Warren Dunes Beach. Lastly, the staff there is friendly and knowledgeable, and they don't seem to be overly controlling. There was even a sign saying something like "Don't bother your neighbor". read more

If you like pitching your tent in a Walmart parking lot then this is the place for you. There is NO privacy and get ready to be sleeping 2 feet from your neighbors. Would NEVER recommend it. The price should be $5 if you're getting this setting. Plus the wood bundles are extremely pricey for the three sticks of wood you get. My site was #32. Horrible! read more

I love Weko beach and camp there often. However, the new website is awful. It is impossible to book a cabin. There is no way to determine when which cabins are available. By the time the office is open, to speak to a person, I'm sure there will be nothing left. This is not user friendly at all. No clue why they changed it but it needs to be put back. read more

Trying to describe everything like I wish I could have found before we went. Campsites are smaller and not separated at all so you gotta love your neighbor. The amenities for the primitive campsites have a communal 4 pods of porta-johns that were clean for the weekend we were there. The walk to the real bathrooms isn't too far during the day but not close enough in the dark. The bathroom in the East side has separated his & hers toilets but unisex showers (with mini changing areas for each shower with lockable doors). Showers are a tad moldy but the temperature & water pressure was good. Beach is a manageable walk with chairs and beach "stuff" with bathrooms and reasonably priced concessions onsite. Hotdogs, hamburgers, walking tacos, nachos, ice cream and a few more things. Beach is busy on the weekends but still room for everyone. Ranger station has ice and firewood for sale. This is an Alcohol-free beach and there's a nice police officer who patrols the whole beach and campsites but I didn't see him question anyone so maybe everyone was on their best behavior . There's a creek and wood for the bigger kids to explore just behind the primitive sites. One last tip... if you don't want to haul a ton of food a quick 2 min drive outside the campsite gives you access to subway, Pizza Hut, McD for fast food and a cute breakfast restaurant and a brewery just on the main road. I don't get to go to the beach much, I'm from Dallas, Texas. Yes, we have lakes, but they're nothing like the Great Lakes. Lake Texoma, probably one of the larger lakes in the area is .6% the size of Lake Michigan. So there. Not *everything* is bigger in Texas. We do have the gulf of Mexico which by comparison is 26 times bigger than Lake Michigan, so HA! Anyhow.... This is a review on Weko Beach. The beach itself is exactly what you'd picture the beach to be. Sand, nice sand. Waves, water, a breeze, grills, bathing suits, beach chairs, umbrellas, seagulls, etc. We went out on a Tuesday afternoon and paid $7 to get in and there were grills available for us to grill up our hamburgers and bratwurst. There are picnic tables to sit and eat and enjoy the view. There weren't that many people out and it was nice not having a ton of people everywhere getting in the way. We actually ran into some people we knew on the beach. The sand isn't perfect. It has rocks and trash mixed in with it. You can't really run in the sand because of that stuff. Some of it may be dead branches or lost toys or just rocks. It's quite a shame. The sand near the water is great. It's mostly clean with a rock or two in it. There were lots of kids playing in it, making sand castles and digging holes. It's the middle of July and the water is pretty cold still. There were people swimming but in water that's near 70, that's a bit too chilly for me. I imagine if the lake was at normal levels, it would have been colder. I was told that the lake is down 5 inches. Other than that, I wouldn't mind coming back next time I'm in town. There are places to play Volleyball, there's a place to take a shower and public bathrooms. There's even a restaurant that you can buy food if you didn't bring your own. The wife says lots of people take pictures up on the stairs near the parking lot, so if you're looking for a picturesque setting, perhaps this is the place to go! read more

A wonderful, friendly, small town beach. Nice services such as food and decent bathrooms. It's right next to Warren Dunes, so you can go for dune hikes or simply walk miles along the beach without getting yelled at by "private beach" owners (hey, the first ten feet of beach is public anyway). This is really the best of small town America. The capper? They have a trumpeter play taps at sundown. Every night. read more

We really like this beach, it has nice amenities and its always clean. Parking can be a bit dicey on the wrong weekend in the summer. Friday nights they have bands, theres a nice scenic overlook and it is adjacent to Warren Dunes. If you dont like the chaos of Silver Beach this is a good alternative. Roma Pizza delivers right to this beach as well. Have never tried the campground read more

Love how close this campsite is to the beach. ALTHOUGH the beach hardly exists anymore ! Where did it go!? Used to be a huge beach area now the water has diminished it to nothing !!! I also don't like how you cannot make reservations at this camp site . Kinda inconvenient when people would like to actually camp and they can't because someone puts a chair up for 4 days with a note that says reserved on it. read more

Campground looked beautiful, but our reservation was canceled due to the extension of the shelter in place. That part is understandable; however, the company kept $20 in fees - $10 per campsite - that they did not refund saying they were "credit card processing fees." Not okay for a company that does not deliver a service to not return full amount paid. The assistant director was not at all helpful in resolving this issue. read more

The campsite is situated in the valley of dunes with a lot of trees, so it really feels like you are camping in the forest. The Weko Beach is very nice, clean and the campsites are a short 5 minute walk. I've only been here once, but the campsite was very quiet at night time, with nobody really partying or being loud. Besides the beach, there is little to do in the town of Bridgman. read more

The website is weird about specifying this, but there IS a dog beach. We went with the baby and dog. From the parking lot, which as of this review costs a reasonable 7 bucks for a day pass, there is a dog trail marked by a small white sign to the south end of the lot, which leads to the dog beach past the buoys. My dog was being bad and so were the others but it was worth it. If you take your dogs, expect to keep them moving, which is the only way to keep them in order. The biting flies were horrendous and my husband put on some horrible off DEET thing that seemed to not work at all. They leave you alone if you're in the water, which was cool but not unbearably. It was quite invigorating. The shore is relatively rocky but once you get out a bit, it's all sand. I plan on returning, but we will probably take the thermacell to try to mitigate the fly problem. read more

We live in Bridgman so we are very happy with our public beach. There are some great views on the dunes where you can overlook wonderful Lake Michigan, and summer is a great time to get here. They have live music at the beach on Sunday nights. While the food isn't great, you aren't having to pay a ton for if, and they have lots of frozen goodies if you want an ice cream fix. If you're in Bridgman, either living or renting, then the walk isn't bad and there are sidewalks the whole way! It is even better for a bike ride. Hope you enjoy, we love it there! read more

2nd time being here. both times were for bachelor parties. very nice campground. very nice beach. although the 2nd time coming here they were doing construction, and NO volleyball nets. BOOHOO. also when i was taking a shower in the mens bathroom, a woman walked out of the shower, (fully clothed). where's the double standard? if i went to take a shower in the womans bathroom, i would be tarred, feathered, drawn and quartered, called a rapist, perv, and every other name in the book...............BEFORE BEING ARRESTED, AND CHARGED WITH SOMETHING. but again i am digressing. would come here again. read more

We visit at least once a year whenever we're in town. A beautiful place to relax with your friends, family, and dogs! The Weko Beach is off-limits for dogs, but you can take them onto Grand Mere State Park, which is right next to it! The campground is perfect for a summer getaway, and the cabins are fitted with electric. All the joys of nature with modern comforts. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Nice little beach. Good to check out if you are going to warren dunes. No dunes to climb though. Less crowded, but not as primitive, as there seems to be more bros partying and a much more built up concession area. I would recommend going late afternoon on a weekday. read more

I have been coming to this beach since my children were little. Now I come with them and my grandchildren. It is now a tradition every summer. I find great peace and comfort here. It is now a blessing to watch my grandchildren laugh and enjoy the water and waves. read more

We rented cabin #5 for a few days. Nice area, great beach, very pretty. Unfortunately, first impressions of our site were not so good. It is located right next to the bathrooms...yay!.....but....the fan on top of the facility is ridiculously LOUD!! It didn't bother us too much at night, as we are used to sleeping with fans in our rooms back home, but during the day, when we are sitting outside trying to relax or read or whatever, all we can hear is the fan rattling and blowing. :(((( Very disappointing. The cabin...once we found it (the check in staff just handed us the key and rules, but didn't point us where we needed to go), was very clean as were the bathrooms. The only other complaint was our full sized bed....so unbelievably uncomfortable...sagged in the middle, didn't sleep well at all. I don't think we would come back to the same cabin. Maybe a primitive site, away from the horrible fan, but cabin #5.....no. :( read more

We just finished a 3 night camping adventure at Weko Campground. The first night was fine. The next 2 nights were terrible. Friday night a large group of campers show no consideration for the other campers in the overflow. Using obscene language loud voices that carried on until after 3 a.m. We were there with our grandchildren and complained to the Ranger Station. They said they were aware and warned the group. They said a security guard would be on duty Saturday. Guess what this party continued the next night with all the language, yelling, and lack of consideration to a point where I went looking for the guard. I never found a guard so we reported this to the Sheriffs non emergency #. I think someone eventually came out and they quieted down for about 30 minutes before starting back up again. I again complained the next morning. I have been coming to this spot over the past 30 years. I'm not sure I will ever return due to this ruckus and large group of close to 20 people. Also this campground needs to limit the numbering people to family and no more than 2 tents per site. read more
