Tried it for the first time! Wonderful food and service!! Little pricey but worth it!!

Service here is always poor. Portion size is also very small compared to all the other curry restaurants in the area and 2x the price. $$$$

I wasn't very impressed with the meat combo platter that I ordered. All of the meats were bland and not very spicy although I ordered a 5 spice level. Keep in mind that the place is run by an Indian family so the Indian dishes might be better than the Ethiopian which is what I had. Nestled in the heart of the Cincinnati college fast food options, this definitely stands out as a better option. We only had the Ethiopian food, not the Indian, and shared two larger plates. The injera was as good as ever, and many of the vegetarian entrees were particularly notable- the lentils were delicious as well as the collards. I tried one of the shrimp entrees and it was a little too salty, but overall, there was plenty of food and we had a great cheap meal. read more

Indian & Ethiopian cuisine under one roof? Genius! And the concept is executed beautifully at Elephant Walk. We sampled from both sides of the menu - samosas and tikka masala on one, tibs on the other. All was excellent. And the service was friendly and attentive. With a daughter at UC through 2019, we'll definitely be seeing this place many more times. read more

Amazingly good. The Elephant Walk gets an A+ with no hesitation. We had the opportunity to eat here in December of last year and said that if we came back through Cinncinati, we would come back. Last night, we did and we're not disappointed! My husband said that his Tandoori chicken was the best he's ever had (and he is not one for superlatives). My daughter and I felt the same about the Ethiopian meat combo. And the beef samosas? Wrapped in homemade pastry, expertly fried and so very, very yummy with the housemade chutneys. And the prices are SO reasonable for the quality of this food! I only wish they were closer to home! read more

I could literally eat at Elephant Walk every day of the week. I no longer live in Cincinnati but make a special 1 1/2 hour drive just to get it on occasion. From their saag paneer to ayib begoman, fried spinach leaves, they also have things ive never seen on any other menu. I can't find an Indian or an Ethiopian place that can come close for flavor, or freshness. read more

I love this place. I've been a few times since they've opened, and I've never had anything I didn't like here... well, maybe the injera. Not that they don't make it well, I'm just not a fan of the texture (it TASTES good, though). The space is nice, very roomy, and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of people. The wait staff is very kind, but I sometimes wish some of them knew more about the dishes. My favorite part about this place is that you can get Ethiopian food with Indian basmati rice! I've had both their Ethiopian and Indian food, and both are fantastic. And yes, the owner does actually come around and offer suggestions and thank you for coming. my wife and i went in on their first week of business on Calhoun early this year. setting: probably the nicest Indian restaurant we have ever been to in Cincinnati. beautiful kitchen, lovely bar in the front (spirits and cafe available), and calming tones and lighting. this place is big, can handle large groups or even a meal own your own. eats: first time we went, we explored the Ethiopian side of the menu. this was my first experience eating this cuisine so we asked a lot of questions. the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. we opted for one of the larger sharing dishes to get to try a lot of different things. for this sampler dish, come hungry & come with friends! a LOT of food, but all very tasty. tonight we went with the Indian menu. when we want takeout, Deep has been our go-to. i think it is safe to say when we want to have a nice night out and have high quality Indian, Elephant Walk is the place. my wife and i shared Saag and Jelfrezi, both which were delicious. their galic naan was light, airy, and toasted just right. catering: my office catered EW a few weeks back and they were very helpful in putting together a tour of both sides of their menu, allowing many people to experience different tastes and flavors in their dishes. overall: it is no surprise their kitchen is almost an active backdrop of their dining area. these chefs know what they are doing and do it well. we'll definitely be bringing friends and family here many times to come! c&t read more

This is by far the best Indian food I have ever had. My only warning is that their spicy scale ranges from 1 to 6; I got a 2 and it was almost too spicy for me! (and I actually like spicy food). So I would recommend going with a 1, unless you want your food to be really hot. I can't wait to come back and try their Ethiopian menu! read more

Have ordered from here several times the food is good not great, but good enough to continue to order. The issue I had this time was while I was waiting for my food the owner had demeaned and scolded a server several times over seemingly nothing on the floor in the middle of his shift. I was extremely uncomfortable and felt horrible for the server. I will not support a business where the owner is so horrible to their staff, totally unprofessional and made me beyond uncomfortable. read more

This review is for the lunch buffet. I was actually really impressed! I usually am not a huge fan of Indian buffets because they tend to be stocked with really greasy curries. This one was great because the curries not greasy, and the flavors were pretty good. I tried one of the samosas, and even those weren't soaked with grease (a sign that they were fried just right!). The chicken curry in the buffet (not the tikka masala) reminded me of good Indian home cooking, something rare in a restaurant. Also, as you wait in the buffet line you can see that there are guys in the kitchen actively rolling dough for fresh naan, and that naan definitely tasted fresh! I ordered a chai as well which I did enjoy- it wasn't chai in the sense that it didn't have different spices in it with the tea, but it had a good tea flavor, and I appreciated that it didn't come already loaded with a ton of sugar that it can be like it is at other Indian restaurants. Also, for the price, you can't beat the value of the buffet here. The one thing that I'm a little iffy about is the Ethiopian fare- the 2 items I tried didn't taste super authentic to me, but I'll have to come back and try the Ethiopian dishes off the menu to be sure. First time I've had Ethiopian food. If this is what it's like--gimme more! Loved the sampler platter with injera bread and various thick meat and vegetarian dips. Have not had Elephant Walk's Indian food yet (unlike Ethiopian food, something Cincinnati offers in great abundance), but unhesitantly recommend their Ethiopian cuisine. A new fave! read more

I tried this place with my cousin, keeping in mind I'm from Buffalo, NY which as thee best non franchise food options of all types....This place was solid, great food, it can get pretty happening some nights-- TIP: use a Groupon, because the prices can take a bite out of your wallet; but as these are smaller places, they absorb a lot of the costs, so its ok. I have to agree with D.R here... I used to LOVE coming to Elephant Walk and would bring new guests with me to try it out, but the past six times I've gone, it's been less than stellar. No longer does the lunch buffet contain more than two vegetarian dishes... most have chicken. And some are not labeled; the waitress may or may not know what it is or what it contains! On more than three occasions did I come to the restaurant 20-40 minutes after opening with the doors being locked (but workers clearly inside) and the phone being unanswered. Service can be slow with drink refills, but the staff are genuinely nice and I feel so bad that I no longer come here because I do miss the food but I don't like the experience. read more

My wife and I used a LivingSocial voucher, supposedly good for two buffet lunches. After the meal, which was so-so, we asked for the check. I had told the waiter that we had the voucher. He took it, but returned and said that they did not accept printed vouchers. I would need to use my smart phone app. Well, I don't have a smart phone, much less an app. I was told I must pay the full amount, which I did. My two buffet lunches ended up costing me a total of around $34. I contacted LivingSocial. They said that there was nothing wrong with the voucher. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

Will never go here again and I never got to even taste the food. Went In and ordered food to go, waited over 50 mins and never got my order. I kept asking how much longer and the woman would say 10 mins. Finally I left and then called to speak to the manager 15 Mins later and was told that she was busy with orders and was not excepting any calls. I told the lady that I wanted to know why I waited over 50 mins and my order still wasn't ready. She said it is ready now. The manager would never get on the phone with me. Customer service was horrible!!!! This was a Sunday at 5pm and they were not to busy. The woman behind the bar even said that the customers sitting were first priority. read more

I recently visited Elephant Walk to enjoy Game 3 of the NBA Finals on their new projector screen an I ended up staying for the AMAZING Amaze Wings. The vibe, people & atmosphere was great for the game and the drinks were cheap. I can not wait to go back!!! #5Stars read more

INDIANS, who are looking for "Indian food", STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE ! Non-Indians who never tasted Real Indian food, will anyway like anything with some spices and curry powder in the name of Indian dish. :-) This was our second effort to find some good Indian food in this restaurant. Unfortunately both times we were disappointed. Every dish is like "full of fresh Cream", be it Veg or Non-veg. Feel so heavy after eating it. We Indians, never make food like that..! One star for the ambiance and one for hospitality. Hope they will read this review and try to improve. I tried the Ethiopian menu as well. It was ok. Leave it to a true Ethiopian to try and comment on this one. read more

What could possibly be better than a lunch buffet of Northern Indian specialties served up in a clean, comfortable diningroom by a staff of polite young servers? The same buffet with the addition of numerous Ethiopian dishes! You can't go wrong with the $8.99 lunch buffet served weekdays from 11-2:30. The selection of dishes is very good. There are at least a half dozen main dish selections, both with meat and vegetarian, of both the Indian and Ethiopian cuisines. Soups, salad and desserts are also offered. Hot foods are actually kept hot and the those intended to be served cold are kept at an appropriate temp. as well. Normally spicy foods are offered on the buffet in toned down versions, presumably to appeal to a wider audience. Our server and the hostess, Hemen, were very helpful and welcoming. All time favorite dishes included the Indian saag paneer, creamed spinach with cubed cheese and the Ethiopian dorowat, chicken stew. Loved our experience. Expect today's visit to be the first of many visits to come. read more

I've only tried the Ethiopian food here. However from its lack of flavor, I would not be too smart to order anything else from this restaurant. Every dish I ordered (veggie platter, beef tibs, and sambusas) was bland. I could not finish the food in the restaurant, so I took it home to season it. Never again. The service was great. The atmosphere was nice. They have a conveniently placed sink to wash your hands before and after the meal. Unfortunately, I came here for food (not the rest)-that was the problem. read more

I have eaten here several times and have enjoyed the food and have never been disappointed. Service is great! The people are friendly and attentive. I went again tonight 5/7/16 tried the meat lovers platter for one and yet again the food was perfect and my server Mick was very friendly, knowledgeable about the Ethiopian foods and made sure I was taken of without being overly attentive like some servers can be. This was a carry out order so no reason to comment on the service level. The dishes were inconsistent. The lamb stew was tasty and satisfying. The bharta and the chicken masala were not. Ample servings of rice but no chutneys. Nan was not an improvement on the frozen offering at Costco. read more
