Very sad experience and honestly one that felt like racial profiling…read more I made an appointment a month in advance to bring in a large amount of items for consignment (almost all of them were designer with tags attached). I arrived a few minutes early with my things and stepped away for about 6-8 minutes to use the restroom elsewhere since I was told I couldn't use theirs, which I understood. When I came back, the owner quickly told me she had already looked through everything and didn't want any of it. I was shocked because my things were clearly untouched and I had a suitcase with a number-code lock on it. I asked her twice if she had opened the suitcase, and she said yes, but I was aware that she never actually went through my things at all. I left upset and called the store afterward to confront her. She panicked, kept apologizing, and said she learned a big lesson from this. What is disappointing is that I was judged before I was even given a chance. I couldn't help but feel that my dark hair and brown skin played a role in how I was treated and that assumptions were made about what I may have brought in. No one should walk into a business and feel dismissed or stereotyped like that. I do not recommend consigning or shopping here.

The shop is small and on some days it has too many volunteers and the space is crowded. Occasionally it has art by fairy well known artists. I told a clerk that I needed to ask some questions about a painting I was interested in perhaps buying. As we were walking toward the piece which was located in the entry way, she began to make degroatory statements before I could ask my question. She said: 1. It's the summer so will can not hold anything; 2. We can't reduce the price; 3. They want to sell stuff as soon as possible. I repeated that I had a question about the painting. She would not let me asked the question but kept on assuming that I wanted some type of special service. Finally I was able to ask," If this a collage or a painting. She said, " a collage otherwise it would cost more. " She was an African American women named, Annie. She was rude and very disrespectful. We went back in the shop to ask about the volunteer who handles art at the shop but he was not available. Another volunteer accompany me outside to discuss the painting. He said he thought it was a collage. Without my being aware, Annie followed us outside. After the volunteer's answer she began to wave her hands and bowed down saying," I told you so," I told you so." I sent my complaint to the manager of the Opp shop, Courtney, on July 11th who usually response well to my concerns and questions in person and to the Rev. I do admire the charities that the shop donates its proceeds; however, they need to respect all clients regardless of race or other circumstances. The behavior of some people working here is unacceptable!

There is a ton of stuff in here that you can easily lose yourself in. However, if you are claustrophobic, bypass this place. The aisles are extra small and this could be on the verge of a hoarder case. I arrived a few minutes early. It's not a huge space but they made a pretty spacious dressing room. There are a full racks lining the walls and a few in the middle. They seem really well organized by size for easier browsing. The space is clean and neat. There was another bride trying on dresses but Missy said hi and introduced herself and asked for a moment as another bride finished up her appointment so I took a seat. The experience was great. I came by myself since my friends could not clear their schedules in time given my quick scheduling. The place is called Fairytale and it did feel like Missy could be a fairy godmother. She had referenced the images I shared for inspo and had found a couple dresses like them for me to try. She also noticed I wasn't feeling quite comfortable in how I looked and was so encouraging. She suggested a couple of other dresses that I ended up liking more than I expected. She was showing how certain other dresses or details can help me feel like the right things are accentuated. She also gave some really helpful tips including dress timeline, tailoring, and candid yet kind thoughts. I did not catch the name of the other staff who was helping her but she was also awesome. They both helped me in and out of dresses. The other person also helped take pictures for me to reference later and even came running out with my phone when I left without it and only realized when I got in my car. They were both great. I highly recommend this place. There were some really pretty dresses for nice prices. A bit lighter for my size range but still options. The experience was also quite nice. As a bride, you often have a lot on your mind and I felt so supported throughout this visit while feeling like they had my best interest in mind. I'll be back!
