I recently had a massage at the Elements Stoneham Location. The massage itself was wonderful, and the girl massage therapist was extremely professional and talented. However, during the massage I could hear a male employee cursing angrily and freely in the hallway outside of my massage room. The use of profanity by a staff member shocked and concerned me. It jolted me out of the relaxed atmosphere my massage therapist had so expertly provided. I am writing this now because this was not the first time this has happened at this location. Against my better judgement, I did not walk into Elements Massage wearing a blue shirt with a stiff white collar and yell, GO PATS. Instead, I hobbled in (a skeleton of the middle of the bench high school athlete that I was) and ran up the white flag on my dignity. In a desperate attempt to heal the wounds of years running with a soon to be beer gut, I found myself in the calming waiting room of Elements Massage. While I have never been to a massage parlor that I would admit to, I was eased by the owner himself as to the benefits of getting a good old fashioned American rub down. Much like our favorite BBQ meats, it's best to rub it hard and take your time. After a quick tutorial as to what to strip down to, dealer's choice apparently, I awkwardly sat and waited for that sweet relief of a stranger's weirdly strong hands. A relief, ladies and gents, is what I got. After nights of leg issues that kept me up contemplating life without limbs, I was rubbed, beaten, carcessed and otherwise rejointed for an hour. I found light at the end of the tunnel of inflamed tendons and salvation at the altar of knotted muscles. Tim went up, down, left, and right over every sore and dehydrated muscle in my otherwise average body. Be careful of their new member discount of $79. I had to cancel due to a personal emergency and they charged me $109 because they said according to their"policy" they have to charge the full amount. So if you get a massage it's $79 if you don't it's $109! Amazing customer service..I can only imagine what the massage would have been like! read more

Honestly screw this place. I booked an appointment and told them i had a gift card just to be told after my appointment the gift card only works at the location it was bought at. They should he asking people and making sure they can use the gift card if they are saying they plan on using a gift card. I didnt know its a chain with the same name. I was really disappointed today. I paid for a 90 minute massage, and explained how I want to focus on my back and neck. My massage was mainly my arms almost the entire time, with probably the last 15 minutes on my back. And with my back, the sheet was over me while the therapist just pushed on it, then the last few minutes finally massaged my back with the sheet off. Didn't even touch my lower back. I desperately needed a good back massage due to my job and the pain I'm in and I am so disappointed that I left without it even feeling better. I felt too bad to say anything after because the therapist was really nice and the pressure was great just wished I could have realized how long they spent on my arms or else I would have said something during. I paid for a 90 minute because an hour is never enough for my back aches. Unfortunately I feel like I wasted a good amount of money. read more

Of late however, I have had 2 massages- that I desperately needed-cancelled at the last minute. Today my dissatisfaction was compounded by the staff offering me another appointment and then NEVER CALLING ME BACK to confirm that the therapist could do it. unfortunately, rather than get a massage, I have spent my even researching new places. disheartening after being a member for so long. read more

I scheduled a last minute massage online and the cost of the massage displayed was $149. I showed up on time but my massage started 10 minutes late which was not a problem. However, the therapist cut my massage 10 minutes short which was definitely a major pet peeve for me. I told the girl at the front desk and that I wanted some money back so she knocked off $10. I proceeded to pay the bill and the cost was more than what it showed at the time of the online booking. I questioned the cost and was told....oh our prices went up a while ago so it's now $159. Why didn't they bother to update their website pricing? I was pretty angry at this point and just left. The massage was just ok certainly not worth the $159 for clearly an experienced therapist. I also reached out to their corporate office to discuss the matter and never received a call back. Not a very professional organization and I will NOT being going back to this place. read more

Great experience! Great people! From my first point of contact, everything was perfect. My therapist Mark was excellent; he chatted with me before my massage to get a good understanding of my lifestyle, injuries/background and what I was looking to get from the massage. I went in with a very tight upper back, neck & shoulders. By the time I left I felt like a million bucks and had full range of motion in my neck again. I have already scheduled another massage with Mark. I had a membership for 6 months. I had no problem with the therapists but the main staff was horrible. First, when I joined I was told I should have no problems getting a massage on the same day as I called. Now, realistically I was excepting perhaps a few days to a week booking. What I got was no one can see you for a month. Meanwhile, my massages started to pile up. Then came the voicemail. "We are calling to cancel your appointment. It is now 12 and your appointment is at 3 if we don't hear from you by 12:15 we are going to cancel your appointment." Um, what? I of course showed up at 3 to find out my therapist left at 1. Why because the main staff told her that she had no appointments. When your front end staff is canceling appointments just to mess with the therapist income you know you are in a bad place. I canceled my membership (I had to give a 30 day notice). That really sucked. The only place you should have to give 30 day notice is when you are renting a place. I did manage to use all my massages, that I paid for, of course it had to be after I canceled because they seemed to be booked out for months. I hated the smell of subway. The rooms were cold. The parking was limited. My 90 min massages always ended up around 75. This place is pretty much a rip off. No way. (When I went they had 5 min and 1 1/2 hour massages. Now, I guess they cut back without cutting back on their prices.) read more

Ummm... why has no one reviewed this place yet? It's amazing! I'm a member, which means my credit card is automatically deducted $59 a month for a 50 minute heavenly full-body massage. I believe their regular prices are just $10 more. The massage therapists here work miracles. All they do is massage, and they are great at it. They offer 50 or 80 minute relaxation massage, deep tissue, sports and pre-natal. You can also upgrade to a hot stone massage for (I think) $20 more. I've been going for about 6 months and honestly, I'm addicted. I look forward to each and every appointment and I leave feeling amazingly relaxed. Sometimes I wish the month would fly by just so my next appointment would be here. I've been going to Elements for a year now, when I first started I had severe back problems (I was actually referred by my Primary Care). I had tried a few different therapist, and then I met Shannon. She is by far my favorite therapist, she hears you out and makes you feel like million bucks afterwards. The pre-natal massage I had with Carol was absolutely fabulous and deserves 5 stars! She applied just the right pressure and checked in every now and then to see how the pressure felt. The reason why I give this place 3 stars is because of the location and the place itself. I would have given three stars but the massage brings it up to 4 stars. It is right next to subway and must share the same vents because the subway smell is very overwhelming. Also, I found that the rooms weren't very sound proof, and i could hear every conversation going on in the other rooms. The lobby seemed more quite then the massage rooms. read more

The therapists here are hit or miss... with a high turn over rate... if you get one you like, get their full name because the next time you go there, they will probably be gone! I had Patty the lead therapist and she was AWESOME. Since then I had Julia who is also a level 4. I just received the best massage! From beginning to end it was so peaceful. Everyone was so professional and caring. The front desk staff asked great questions and made me feel very comfortable. My massage therapist was amazing! He occasionally asked if I wanted more or less pressure and gave me some tips to take home with me to help with all the tension in my back. Called Elements to schedule a massage in which they were able to take me immediately. After arriving at the location and recieving my massage i realized why there were openings. In all my years receiving massages I have never been so confused and disappointed on what type of massage I recieved. First time in my life I received a massage that did not include massaging your back. I am sure that this is not customary with all their staff although if you do decide to visit this place please avoid Stacy to spare yourself from disappintment. My 55 minute massage was less than 40 minutes and terrible. Futhermore this location is more like an upscale tanning salon at best. I had never gotten a professional massage but tweaked my neck and didn't know what else to do. This location was able to schedule a massage for me the same day, were extremely gracious when I was late, and took my requests into account. My masseuse focused only on my upper back and neck for the full time and was very responsive to what I wanted. The next day my neck was sore but in less pain and the following day I was almost back to normal! My husband is a member and he suggested I see David. I had pulled one of my hamstrings and was feeling mangled. So I took advantage of his membership. The location is easy to find, there is plenty of parking and the room was comfortable. David first asked if there was anything that needed attention and how I like my massage (pressure wise). Im not the type of person that wants a gentle massage. I like the masseuse to get in there and work the muscles. David did just that. He even mentioned that he would probably find more spots that I wasn't aware of and that he did. He watches your cues so he knows when to change the pressure. If you work out a lot and need a serious spots massage, you have to go to David. I was a jacked up mess when I first walked in the door. When I walked out, I felt 20 pounds lighter and taller. read more

I've been going to Elements Stoneham on and off since it opened. I had not been in a few years and my wife had given me 2 gift certificates a while back to use. I called to make an appointment and got one for the same day. I informed the person on the phone I had a gift certificate and asked if she needed the number on the back of it, she said no but I gave it to her anyway. I show up a few minutes early for my appointment. I presented my gift card to the receptionist and was asked to have a seat, that my therapist would be with me shortly.  A lady comes out from the back to inform me that my massage was for 90 minutes and they only booked me for 60 minutes. The receptionist told me I can still get the 60 minutes massage if I wanted to pay for it. Of course I'm not going to I pay for a pre paid massage gifted from me wife. That and they would be ripping me off for 30 minutes.  The lady that came from the back went back to the back coming out and telling me her manager said they were all booked up for 90 minute massages. I have booked for 90 minutes (huh)  I should have been told that on the phone when I booked the appointment. I was not! I said the proper thing would have been for the manager to get off his or her backside and come talk to me herself. By now I am getting frustrated... After a few minutes the manager comes out to speak to me. She told they had no way of knowing how long of service the gift card was booked for (huh) Remember at the start of this I asked the person on the phone if they wanted the number and info from my gift card and she said no. I gave the number to her anyway, apparently she didn't write it down or look it up, but she did manage to find phone number with me having only have given her the number off the card, so she's obviously looked something up from info I had given her, and that was only the S# in the back of the card! I explained to the manager all if this and she told me there was NO WAY THEIR SYSTEM COULD HAVE KNOWN HOW LONG MY MASSGAGE WAS FOR. Excuse the hell out of me but I guess it's my job to keep their records for them. (If you don't track the gift card number by service sold how do they keep accurate tax records??) At this point the manager told me, and only after arguing with me for 10 minutes that since the hour was set aside I could still get a 60 minute massage. She didn't say it was for my inconvenience or that it would be on the house, only after I said I'm not about to repay for a paid service not received that she told me they would not charge me for this massage. I asked how the masseuse would get paid and she said she would pay her. From my perspective I've been lied to several times already and told the manager I didn't come to get anything for free, i just wanted what I ultimately paid for, the 90 minute massage I booked the appointment for from the card that was given my wife as voucher for the service to give to me for Christmas a year or so ago.. I explained that I was frustrated getting frustrated over the situation and the managers arguing with me over it. I then asked if my wife came back in with the other card and the card I showed up with if she could get a refund so I could find services elsewhere and was told that gift cards would not be refunded. Seemingly they won't be with fulfilled or honored either.  At that point I asked to speak to or be given info to contact the owner of Elements Stoneham. I was told by the manner NO! She then handed me her business card and told me to email the address on the business card, the email on the business card was hers the store managers and she at that point told me that if I sent a letter such as this one I'm posting here to her that it would be forwarded to the ownership and someone would get back to me. After this terrible experience with elements Stoneham I am almost afraid to rebook an appointment there as I do not believe I will be to be treated properly. Use at your own risk. read more

Terrible. My main focus was supposed to be upper back and neck to get my knots out... didn't touch any of that. A lot of stroking, no pressure points or massaging. And stretching. Time for a little ME time. I am a local business owner in the Wakefield / Stoneham area and I work 6 to 7 days a week which can take it's toll on the body and be somewhat stressful at times. I was recommended to Element's on Main St. in Stoneham by a close friend that goes there all the time and raves about it. Well I finally broke down and decided to make some time in my hectic schedule for a little ME time and see for myself if Elements was everything I've heard it was. Upon arriving for my first appointment I was greeted with a warm friendly smile and asked if I'd like a bottle of water and I was even given the option of room temperature or chilled. They have several therapist working there that specialize in all types of massage. I chose deep tissue for my first massage and I must say, she got all the knots out of my back and focused on all the areas that I told her were bothering me. Since then I signed up as a member and I go as often as possible. The Massage therapist that I've tried so far have all been amazing. I rate Elements 5-Stars and I am sure that you will too. I've been attending elements for 5 months now on their wellness program after the birth of my son in Feb. This location has been fabulous. All staff members behind the desk have been professional and accommodating! Nykia was my latest therapist and I had to write a review to highly recommend her technique. I've had some good massages at some high end establishments and her massage stands out above even some of the most expensive ones I've had in the past. She could relate to my needs holding a 15lb baby as well as my complaint on the tension in my calves. She was understanding, attentive to detail and applied medium pressure to get all the kinks out. Scheduled 2 appointments earlier this week for myself and my cousin in the same time slot. One of the therapists called out, so they asked if they could change one appointment to a half hour earlier which meant that we'd each sit and wait for a half hour on either end of our appointment. Since my cousin was traveling from out of state (I let them know this.) I told them I needed to contact her and call them back. An hour later I called back to let them know we could make it and they had given away the spot. If they couldn't hold the spot they should've said something when they called me the first time. My mother bought me a giftcard for my birthday for a 55 minute massage at Elements. I was apprehensive so I did a little research and threw caution to the wind and tried it. It was ok. Nothing spectacular, nothing horrible, just meh. Their website is extensive, their staff nice enough. There wasn't much in the way of sound proofing of the room and I heard a lot of chatter. The lights were pretty bright in the room, which I wasn't expecting. I personally felt cold a majority of the time there but maybe they had the air cranking since it was the first really warm day. My massage was a deep tissue and Mark was responsive when I asked for lighter pressure. I've had better massage and I've had worse. I hated walking out of there feeling like I was coated in oil and I tried to get off as much as I could, but I still left feeling greasy. There really was nothing exciting or overwhelming for me one way or the other. When checking out, they automatically assumed I would be signing up for a membership and future appointments, that I politely refused. I didn't get a hard sell, which I appreciated. Would I go back, probably not. Would I recommend, sure. They are affordable and getting an appointment was easy. Parking is easy too. I just expect to be blown away by my massage experience and it was just ok. read more

I've been to this location a number of times. The rooms are relaxing and comfortable, staffs are welcoming and nice. The price is reasonable more so if you find a therapist you like. Therapists come and go frequently so it is difficult to find a decent therapist. If you do s/he will be gone soon. They only have one therapist who does deep tissue. The 'spa' is located next to a Subway sandwich shop and the spa smells of Subway. The front desk staff are not at all knowledgeable about the therapists or the policies if the spa. Price is right. But I do not feel like they are very professional in the front at times. The front desk staff is hit or miss. There seems to be a high turnover which is something I always feel concerned about in a business. Also, it is a little unknown fact that the "drawing" that they used to have at the front desk for a free upgrade if a client rebooks is not really a drawing. I saw an employee sorting them out and looking at them making comments about "definitely not this one" and "I think this one should get it." It's kind of disheartening. Some of the massage therapists were pretty good overall. Some talked too much. Basically overall I would not recommend, but it's a good financial deal if you can get over all of the negative points. I was given a gift card to Elements in Stoneham by my husband and son at Christmastime. I was very happy to receive it. Not so happy by the time I left!The "one hour massage" started late and ended early. The massage focused on my arms, shoulders and neck. I said I wanted the FOCUS to be on my arms, shoulders and neck. About 40 minutes (total) into the massage, I was told it was time to end it. When I looked at the clock, it was 15 minutes short of the hour. I asked the therapist about this and she told me she had to get the ready for the next client. Unacceptable! I did not, in anyway, get a one hour massage and the massage I got was incomplete. I spoke to the two women at the front desk and told them I was a very unhappy customer. I forgot about the bad experience but said to myself," I'll never go there again!". When my son asked me about it and I told him my experience he urged me to write a review on yelp. I do not have a yelp account, so I am using a friend who was nice enough to let me write this review. My rating of a 2 is based off of my over all experience, not the work of the therapist. First off, the place smells like Subway. No matter what side of the studio you are on, all you can smell and hear is the Subway next door and it is gross. The girls that work at the front desk are rude and unprofessional at best. The manager (Kim maybe?), dresses very unprofessional, which leads the outside world to wonder what kind of a place this Elements really is. When I was there last she was wearing a short black dress and had cleavage falling out. Terrible. When I questioned the length of a massage I received back in May, she was extremely rude. I don't know why they hired her, but I know I am not the only client who finds her to be a little over the top for a manager. The ownership should really reconsider who they hire. The other girl who is at the front desk (I don't know her name) does a terrible job answering any questions. I was reading some of the other reviews on here and I think that the issues people have may not actually be with their therapist, but with how that place is run. For example, I booked a 55 minute massage, and my whole experience was over in about 55-60 minutes. I asked the therapist, and I was told that they are under strict orders from the ownership to only give 50 minutes on the table for a 55 minute massage, and 75 for an 80. Seriously?!?!? I booked an appointment at the Elements in Burlington and asked them if they have the same policy, and even they said that was crazy. Overall, it's not the therapist's fault that the owners and management have no idea what they are doing over there. Make sure to tip them because it seems like they go through a lot there. Now I know why every time I have a good experience with someone, they are gone shortly after. The therapist I saw in May was a girl who was new, and by the time I wanted to rebook with her in June, she was already gone. If you have the option to go anywhere else, do it! read more
