My husband and I got massages today at Align Massage Studio and they were super relaxing and therapeutic. I had Steve and my husband had Anyah, both were excellent massage therapists. Both my husband and I felt so much better afterwards and we can't wait to book again. It was the perfect gift to each other! FYI - There is 3-hour parking in the rear of the building, but get there early because the lot fills up quickly. read more

I have had weeks of pain due to a herniated disc at L4/L5 and even after an epidural injection, I had no relief. I had a session with Steve last month and Oh MY God!!!! He's amazing at what he does!!! He's very knowledgeable, his knowledge of the nerves and muscles and spinal Column anatomy is impressive! He's not an average massage therapist, he's extremely gifted! Massage therapy is not a "one size, fits all T-shirt", it needs to be customized to the patient's problems and needs. I highly recommend Steve, specially if you have pain or a specific problem. He also gives the best soothing overall massage to relax you. read more

I don't often go for massages, but that doesn't mean I don't need one often! I won a one hour massage from the Melrose Art Society raffle. First off, any business that gives back to the community is AOK by me. Michael worked with me via email and text to find a good time. The studio is clean and relaxing. They have a good system of sending out reminders too. He was a great listener with regard to what I wanted or didn't like, if I was comfortable, not too warm, etc. The massage was awesome. The atmosphere was great. I would definitely go back. read more

I recently visited Align for the very first time, and had a great experience. After the initial intake form, Steve asked if there was any area I would like him to concentrate on. I had been having lower back pain, as well as tightness in my shoulders, so that's what he focused on. I was so relaxed and felt great afterwards. Before leaving, he showed me some exercises I could do at home, and specified doing them "at the beginning and end of the day" for the best results. I have tried these, and they do help. I will definitely be back! Thanks Steve! read more

I visited Align Massage Studio this week for a massage with Anyah. It was absolutely one of the best massages I ever had. When I told her the areas that needed extra attention due to a lot of indoor cycling, she actually listened. More often that not when I tell a massage therapist what I would like worked on, they nod like they understand but then I get the same, generic massage. Not with Anyah!! She focused on the areas with the most tension and I left feeling so much better and for days later. I would recommend Anyah to anyone but especially to athletes who appreciate deep tissue massage and have specific areas of concern. read more

I feel so lucky that my husband and I found this studio and Steve! We are new clients and couldn't be happier. Steve is a true professional and a great listener who really wants to make people feel better and live fuller lives. My husband was experiencing awful back pain and Steve really helped him get through it. I went to Steve first for plantar fasciitis treatment (which was awesome) and then again for full body and reiki - also incredible. Booking is easy and the studio setting is very peaceful and clean. Highly recommend! read more

One of my first priorities of trying to get back to normalcy after the pandemic was to treat myself to a 90 minute massage. Pre-pandemic I would get massages typically every 6-8 weeks to help alleviate chronic tension headaches I've been experiencing for years. I'm so glad I chose Steve at Align Massage Studio. Prior to my appointment, I was sent a very thorough questionnaire to provide my medical history and information. Upon arriving, we reviewed my problem areas and pain points. It was such a peaceful and relaxing massage. He was able to break up 15-month old knots in my shoulders, back and neck. Steve is great at what he does, very professional, nice and polite. He even followed up with an email outlining tips and recommendations for stretches and how to alleviate the neck and shoulder tension I have. I would definitely recommend Steve if you're looking for your next massage! read more

I had a great massage here today by Steve Leavitt. Excellent atmosphere and communication. Both energizing and relaxing. Thank you. read more

I get massages from Michael every month and would get more, if I could afford it. I never used to be loyal to any one massage studio, but since coming here, I don't go anywhere else. Michael is fantastic and so professional. I like a really firm pressure and Michael delivers. That being said, I have no doubt that he would tailor his pressure to anyone's needs, as he took the time to find out what my preferences were before my first massage. Also, before every massage, Michael asks what I would like to work on that day. I also must say that the way Michael has set up the massage room is so pleasing and relaxing. It's always warm and inviting, with lovely candles and music. If you're thinking of trying a new massage studio, do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Michael. read more

I got a massage from Align based on highly positive Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. Steve tailored my massage to meet my needs and also provided great advice/insights for a massage regimen, as well as stretches to do in between appointments. I am grateful that such an excellent studio opened in Melrose! read more

Michael is great. I was able to get in easily within a day of needing an appointment and is was very responsive via email. He was very professional and his work space is very clean, neat and professional. He was great at explaining what he was going to do and about answering questions that I had. He gave me advice (I went in for back pain) about further relieving the pain I had. I will be going back! read more

YOU HAVE TO CANCEL OR ELSE YOU GET AGGRESSIVE TEXT MESSAGES FROM THE WORKERS. I have never been to this studio because I just moved to MA two months ago. I had originally booked an appt and then cancelled due to my work schedule changing. I cancelled online the night before and responded to the text this morning to Steve. I have not yet been to this studio and have been trying to find a good place to go since moving into Melrose from Arizona two months ago. I am very sad that this is the text I just received from Steve who clearly ignored my text back to him when asking if I was going to come to the appointment even after I canceled online. I'm not sure of the miscommunication/ if I didn't properly cancel online but that's beside the point. This text is aggressive/ rude/ very unprofessional. As a client, it is never my intention to prevent someone from making money/ taking an hour of pay away. I'm sorry to have prevented you from booking another appt Steve but this is not a person I would trust in a setting as personal as getting a massage. This aggressive nature is not the treatment any client deserves. I will not be booking a session at this business and do not suggest anyone does if they want passive aggressive texts messages. As someone who has a hard time adapting to new places and that is just trying to be comfortable in a new place, this is not a text you want to receive at dinner from someone you don't know. I'm nervous that this man has my phone number/ address/ email due to me signing up originally. If any management is seeing this I would really love to have all of my information removed from the system! Thank you, and Steve I hope you have a full schedule tomorrow. read more

I couldn't be happier to have found Align, both Steve and Michael are phenomenal massage therapists who take such care and pride in their work. I have been getting massages regularly for years but struggled to find a masseuse on the North shore who really addressed my neck/back pain and am so thankful to have finally found Steve. He is the real deal! He is so intentional with his craft, and truly committed to improving his clients' well being, never shying away from big knots or trouble spots. His knowledge of the body and massage therapy is surpassed only by his kindness! Highly highly recommend. read more

Long review short: you should go. He's awesome. I've been to a dozen massage therapists in 4 states over the years, because old sports injuries plus a desk job for me resulted in bad posture leading to chronic back pain and headaches. I started going to massage therapists for this, and good ones help a lot. But usually it's hard for me to find someone who is strong and knowledgeable enough to really get deep into my shoulders and back and work out some knots. Then about a year ago when I moved to the area, I found Michael. He's fantastic. First of all -- a really nice guy and a total professional. He's focused on working on your physical ailments -- unfortunately that isn't always the case when you go to a massage therapist. But most importantly for me, he will get to where I have deep knots and just work the hell out of them until they're gone. He's the first massage therapist where I've had to go and take a nap after he was done, because without moving I got a workout. Which isn't to say that he's not careful or that he'll work you too hard. But for me, he's one of the few people who has the technique and the power to fix what needs to be fixed. I haven't had a headache in months. How can you do better than that? Make your life better and go. read more

I been seeing Michael for massage for several months now. The last few years have been very stressfully was for me, and my husband urged me to give massage a try as part of a broader effort to live better--better diet, more exercise, etc. calm, friendly manner really put me at ease. I was nervous, as I am somewhat uncomfortable with new people and had never had massage before. But Michael quickly put me at ease. I have noticed a definite change in my stress and tension level since I started seeing him. I have recommended him to friends and acquaintances and am now happy to recommend him to the Yelp community. Im very excited for Michael as he opens his new business! read more

I recently visited Steve for the second time and couldn't be more thrilled with my massage and results. I am 3 months postpartum and the level of detail Steve has paid to my aching back from nursing and holding my baby has been critical for my recovery. Steve takes the time to understand what you're looking for, gives a thoughtfully curated massage and then proceeds to offer stretch options afterward for additional maintenance. Highly highly recommended!! read more

I found Michael at another studio a year ago when looking for a massage therapist to help with an old injury. He has worked miracles with the injured area and has helped tremendously with other areas, too! His friendly demeanor quickly puts you at ease; the space makes you quite comfortable. I highly recommend Michael - you won't be sorry! read more

I was having severe lower back pain, considering acupuncture and chiropracture, then I found Michael through Yelp. After three sessions (and a bit of yoga) I am virtually pain free. Michael understands the body, finds the problem, digs in, and irons it out. Michael is warm, friendly and professional. He has always been punctual and is flexible with scheduling if something comes up. In addition to an amazing massage, Michael takes the time to discuss exercise, posture, and general well being. I have been to many Massage Therapists through the years, and Michael is at the top of my list. So what are you waiting for? read more

Hands down the best massage I have ever received! I was pleasantly surprised to get a weekend time slot less than 24 hours in advance. Steve was so wonderful making sure to customize the massage to exactly what I was looking for. He really focused in on my tense areas, which left me feeling completely relaxed and standing taller. The studio was warm, comfortable, and inviting. Highly recommend! I can't wait for my next appointment. read more

Steve has been my massage therapist since before the pandemic and I couldn't be happier to return to him for massage after so much time. I've been dealing with severe back pain issues recently and after a single session with Steve the pain and tension were profoundly relieved. I was really concerned about one area in particular, and Steve took the time to show me a diagram of where the muscles are in the body and how low back tension can radiate outwards to other parts of the body. He is an excellent therapist: kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and professional. Personally, I don't always feel comfortable or fully relaxed when getting a massage, but Steve creates a healing and safe space for those of us who may be self-conscious or anxious. He truly cares about his clients and helping them feel better; he even gave me specific stretches to do at home. Thank you, Steve!! I'm so grateful to feel better and consider myself lucky to have found such a wonderful massage therapist in Melrose. read more

My mother and I were seen today by both Michael and Steve. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Michael was very accommodating scheduling my mother as they were booked solid but him understanding the pain she was in managed to fit her in and took her directly. Suffering from edema and spinal stenosis he was very empathetic, compassionate and accommodating in her massage so that she would find relief but understanding she was limited to the amount of pressure she would be able to sustain. After one session she found relief and was very pleased with her first massage. I was seen by Steve for plantar fasciitis as well as back and neck and came out feeling better than ever. My legs and feet feel lighter making it more manageable to walk. We couldn't be happier as these 2 gentleman are phenomenal and highly recommend them!! We will be back next month!! read more

I went to see Steve after suffering from pretty much constant tension headaches and neck pain for the the last month or so, and I'm so happy to report that I've been pain free for three days now. I'll definitely be going back to see him soon. Steve has such a nice presence - friendly and calm (and knowledgeable) - he put me at ease right away. It was a very relaxing and positive experience, and I'm so grateful for the lasting results! read more

A truly wonderful experience. I don't get massages with any frequency but an hour with Anyah made me wonder why I wouldn't want to feel that great at least once a week. I came to see Michael after reading great reviews about his prenatal massage. I've always preferred firm pressure in my massages, but all of the prenatal massages I had before Michael were way too gentle for my liking. I usually left feeling like I didn't get much for my money. When I saw Michael for a 90-minute prenatal massage, I left feeling better physically than I had in months! It's clear that he has extensive training and knows exactly how to provide real relief to us pregnant ladies. My muscles felt amazing, and my mood was significantly lifted. He is professional, kind, and excellent at what he does. I'm definitely going to keep seeing Michael after baby arrives! read more

A friend reccomended that I try out Align and I'm really happy I did. My session was with Steve and I can't say enough good things about the experience - from the friendly welcome and chat to go over my ailments and preferences, throughout the massage which never felt rushed, until the end when he provided some tips and suggestions to ease tightness. Will definitely go back again soon! read more

Researching Michael via Yelp and viewing his influx of positive comments first drew me in to his practice. Each review highlighted his professionalism, genuine compassion for his clients, and for his talent in massage therapy, and I was very intrigued to meet with him. These reviews were quickly justified after my first visit with Michael. Michael took the time to get to know me as a client and understand what brought me to his practice. He outlined the different kinds of massage that he offered, and helped me choose the type that best met my health needs. During the massage, he talked through what he was doing for the muscles and identified areas that needed additional attention. My body continued to feel the impact of his massage after a few days. I am SO excited to work with him again as his practice aligns with my health-related goals. He is absolutely a professionalism in his business. read more

I highly recommend that you book a session with Steve! I have seen Steve for massage several times over the past year or so and every time not only are my physical symptoms relieved but I also experience an increased sense of emotional well being. Steve is a thoughtful massage therapist and truly listens to your concerns. He can incorporate Reiki to address areas of stuckness. Steve genuinely cares and goes the extra mile to make sure your concerns for the session are heard and responded to. read more

My first ever massage session was with Steve and he made sure I felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the session. He was really great at explaining my issues and gave me some amazing tips to help ease my muscle problems. Since I had no idea about massage pressure before this, he made sure that he put the right amount of pressure according to my comfort and at the same time loosening those tight muscles on my traps and shoulder blades. If this is your first time taking a massage, I would highly recommend this place to get to know your body better, including a quick consultation discussing your issues can go a long way read more

Michael is a fantastic massage therapist! My experience was overwhelmingly positive. He was patient and attentive during the consultation, checked in several times throughout the massage to make sure he was using the "right" pressure, and offered practical advice on how to care for my muscles between appointments. Highly recommend giving him a call! Also, his space is calm, inviting, and comfortable. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Michael's prenatal massage. He is beyond talented, considerate, trustworthy, and he goes out of his way to give you the best experience you could hope for. I've had prenatal massage from several other providers and I know enough to recognize that Michael's level of expertise, especially for those pregnant ladies who really need firm pressure to get muscle pain relief, is very hard to find. His work has significantly improved in my ability to function in an increasingly uncomfortable body - and provided the best outlet for relaxation. I have already booked massages through the end of my pregnancy and would love to continue seeing him after baby arrives. read more

Several months ago, I booked a massage at Align Massage Studio based upon positive Yelp reviews. I wasn't disappointed! I was interested in "cleaning up" a few residual issues related to a fall down the stairs, during which I injured the base of my spine. I had already had extensive Physical Therapy, which helped tremendously. I was still, however, dealing with significant stiffness, and episodes of my low back locking up. (I am Physical Therapist myself). I dance 4-6 nights per week, and my issues were interfering with my ability to dance. After my first massage with Steve Leavitt, I was about 75% improved! After several more massages, I felt nearly back to normal. Steve was very professional, making sure that the environment felt comfortable and safe. He was considerate of the kind of massage that I was looking for (i.e. deep, gentle, etc.). Steve shared feedback with me regarding what he found after working with me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Steve as a skilled professional massage therapist. read more

Michael is fantastic! Conveniently located on Main Street in Melrose, with ample parking in a well lit lot behind the building. His studio is warm & inviting. Michael is courteous, warm, professional & engaged. He takes the time to sit down & find out exactly what you hope to gain from your session, in terms massage type (relaxation, deep tissue, chronic pain management, etc), pressure & any physical pain or limitations you may be experiencing. He is knowledgeable & willing to share his expertise with you. Sessions with Michael have become a regular part of my wellness regime. Highly recommended!! read more

I started getting periodic massages several weeks ago. I had and still have the good fortune of working with Steve. I feel that Steve has really taken time to listen to what I need. He is kind and compassionate. He listens to what my issues are and we take it from there. So if u r looking for a great massage therapist I highly suggest that you give him a try. read more

Had an appointment last week with their newest massage therapist, Steve. He has fantastic hands and really listened as we talked about what parts of my body needed work. I was impressed with the pressure and technique that he used on each spot and came out feeling really relaxed. I was surprised to get an email from him a few days later recommending some stretches and work desk posture techniques to help with the more stressed parts of my neck, back and hamstring. I'm really looking forward to my next session with him and highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a great massage therapist. I'm going to be a regular! read more

I just wanted to update that Align Massage now has 2 providers. I've seen Steve 3 times and he is every bit as skilled as Michael. He hones right in on problem spots and leaves me feeling loose and relaxed. I'm admittedly a bit high maintenance about temperature, music volume, etc., and after happily adjusting things during our first session, he remembered everything and had it just perfect the second time. I also love the new online booking feature on the website so I can find a good time and check different options without having to trade calls or e-mails. read more

I had an excellent massage with Steve this weekend. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. I enjoy deep pressure and often leave massages disappointed because the work didn't feel focused enough but Steve was able to give me a deep massage focused on the areas I really needed to have work on most. His work getting out knots was especially great! I'd highly recommend him! read more

I have to say I rarely leave reviews. I read them but don't leave them. But the massage and experience I had was so good, I had to write one. Michael is by far the most personable massage therapist I have met. He sat down with me for a while before we even started (that time was NOT taken out of my massage at all) and asked me what was going on, and what was bothering me, etc. He truly showed interest in what I had to say and his technique was on point. I am so glad I went there and will definitely be going back. And I have NEVER been to the same massage therapist more than once. read more

I've first started seeing Michael when I was having pretty bad shoulder and upper back pain. I thought I'd just go for one visit to get the pain under control and tolerable, but I was so impressed that I've been seeing him about once a month ever since then. I've had a hard time with massages in the past-either too light and tickling, or too hard, causing me to tense up. Michael, however, is very intuitive at figuring out just the right amount of pressure to use so that I'm not in pain and tightening up, but also still getting a therapeutic benefit. In addition to being a great masseuse, he's a really nice guy with a calming demeanor, which helps me relax and unwind. The massage studio is really comfortable and relaxing, which makes for an overall great experience. read more
