I have had weeks of pain due to a herniated disc at L4/L5 and even after an epidural injection, I had no relief. I had a session with Steve last month and Oh MY God!!!! I recently visited Align for the very first time, and had a great experience. After the initial intake form, Steve asked if there was any area I would like him to concentrate on. I had been having lower back pain, as well as tightness in my shoulders, so that's what he focused on. I was so relaxed and felt great afterwards. I visited Align Massage Studio this week for a massage with Anyah. It was absolutely one of the best massages I ever had. When I told her the areas that needed extra attention due to a lot of indoor cycling, she actually listened. I had originally booked an appt and then cancelled due to my work schedule changing. I cancelled online the night before and responded to the text this morning to Steve. I have not yet been to this studio and have been trying to find a good place to go since moving into Melrose from Arizona two months ago. I am very sad that this is the text I just received from Steve who clearly ignored my text back to him when asking if I was going to come to the appointment even after I canceled online. I'm not sure of the miscommunication/ if I didn't properly cancel online but that's beside the point. This text is aggressive/ rude/ very unprofessional. As a client, it is never my intention to prevent someone from making money/ taking an hour of pay away. I'm sorry to have prevented you from booking another appt Steve but this is not a person I would trust in a setting as personal as getting a massage. This aggressive nature is not the treatment any client deserves. I will not be booking a session at this business and do not suggest anyone does if they want passive aggressive texts messages. As someone who has a hard time adapting to new places and that is just trying to be comfortable in a new place, this is not a text you want to receive at dinner from someone you don't know. Long review short: you should go. He's awesome. I've been to a dozen massage therapists in 4 states over the years, because old sports injuries plus a desk job for me resulted in bad posture leading to chronic back pain and headaches. I started going to massage therapists for this, and good ones help a lot. But usually it's hard for me to find someone who is strong and knowledgeable enough to really get deep into my shoulders and back and work out some knots. Then about a year ago when I moved to the area, I found Michael. He's fantastic. First of all -- a really nice guy and a total professional. He's focused on working on your physical ailments -- unfortunately that isn't always the case when you go to a massage therapist. But most importantly for me, he will get to where I have deep knots and just work the hell out of them until they're gone. He's the first massage therapist where I've had to go and take a nap after he was done, because without moving I got a workout. Which isn't to say that he's not careful or that he'll work you too hard. But for me, he's one of the few people who has the technique and the power to fix what needs to be fixed. My mother and I were seen today by both Michael and Steve. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Michael was very accommodating scheduling my mother as they were booked solid but him understanding the pain she was in managed to fit her in and took her directly. Suffering from edema and spinal stenosis he was very empathetic, compassionate and accommodating in her massage so that she would find relief but understanding she was limited to the amount of pressure she would be able to sustain. I was interested in "cleaning up" a few residual issues related to a fall down the stairs, during which I injured the base of my spine.
