I have been a member here for 4 or 5 months...and in that time I've been canceled on with little or no notice twice. Yesterday (the second time) I even received my emailed appointment reminder an hour before arriving, I arrived and was told my appointment had been canceled and I "should have gotten a call last night" (I didn't). The first cancelation was a phone call an hour before my appointment time. Both times I had babysitters for my kids. Elements requires 24+ hours notice for its customers to cancel an appointment, but apparently doesn't feel it appropriate to extend the same courtesy. I canceled my membership on the spot yesterday. I emailed management to see if they would respond, maybe explain? And they didn't. Two stars because the therapists that I've seen there are good, and actually helped with my chronic pain. Tonight I had an appointment scheduled with Phil who is listed as a 4, which is deep tissue and trigger point concentration. To make a long story short, I asked him if he could apply more pressure (because his hands were very light and he was not working my multiple knots.) Phil said nothing, did not even acknowledge my request to apply more pressure . A few moments pass and I asked him again. This man actually had the nerve to tell me that I 1)can reschedule with someone else 2)he is a 3+ and doesn't know what "those people" in front have him listed as 3) I was his "last massage for the day, I am tired and I'm not able to go that deep" Now, imagine me, I work my ass off with my VERY physical part time job that I get up EVERY morning at 4:45 to come home to a 21 month old to also run my company.. I am tired and sore and I fiiiinnnnalllly get a chance to schedule a massage just so I can have a time to relax and get some relief. But instead, I am subjected to such mediocrity and dismissive behavior with not an ounce of compassion for a person who spent their money for a SERVICE. Phil if you are "TIRED" go home don't send ME home. I am so upset about this I want my money back for every dime I spent at Elements Middleton over the past several months, I am mortified, stressed from this experience, and I am canceling my membership.. today was not the day to do this I did not deserve to be treated this way and it does not end with this review. Gosh I hate to give chain or franchise 5 stars but I have to. This is why... 1. Availability, you can always get one 24 hours in advance but you might not get your preferred therapist 2. Variety of massage therapists. For me it's like a kid in a candy store. 3. Very clean facilities. 4. Relaxing waiting area. I always come early to use the bathroom and start decompressing so I can really enjoy my massage. 5. At the end of the massage they give you a bottle of water and a mini York peppermint patty, as well as offering a warm wash cloth to wipe of any excess oil. Well there it is. As I left, the receptionist said "next time we'll make a note...." but there will not be a next time. Here's why: 1. I asked for a 60 minute full body swedish massage with extra attention to my neck area. (I specified this on paper, on the phone, and to my therapist). I GOT a 60 minute, extremely intense firm pressure neck and back rub. My therapist never massaged anything but my neck and back for 60 minutes. 2. I was told on the phone I was getting a female therapist with a light touch for medium pressure. I GOT a male therapist (Phil) whose pressure was so firm and deep it was not relaxing. He never asked how the pressure was. I will say he did really relieve all the tension in my neck and would have done a great job if that's what and who I had asked for. Because he did a good job getting out the knots, I increased this review fro 1 star to 2 stars. Otherwise it would be a 1. 3. My friend (who went at the same time with a different therapist, Jen) described her therapist as very loud, clumsy,, and barely massaged most parts of her body just focusing on her back. Again, not what was requested at all. 4. I asked for NO strong smelling solutions. At the end he slathered my back with a strong menthol rub that stung my eyes all the way home. I couldn't wait to get in the shower. 5. When I told the front desk that I didn't get a full body massage, I was charged the same price and it wasn't addressed...no discount, no voucher, no sorry...just "next time we'll make a note that you want a female". ??? There will not be a next time. I chose this place after calling 4 other places for an appt on a specific day. They were the only ones with an opening. I usually go to Maison Esthetique in Danvers, and will stick with that from now on, I highly recommend that if you are looking for a good spa treatment, you do the same! I've been to some very high end spas such as the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and the professionalism is worth the extra money and it's worth waiting for an appointment. The way they speak to you, their gentle voices, their attention to detail, their attentiveness to your wants described on paper and in person, the quality of the treatment, etc. My friend and I will not be returning to Elements but hope they will be able to improve in the future. There are a few pros to the place... 1. It's cheap (but you get what you pay for) 2. It's clean. 3. The front desk staff was friendly. 4. They give you water. read more

Had a great 6+years going here monthly but ALL the good massage therapists left. I had to give up my membership due to lack of good quality

Every time I schedule here, at the last minute they cancel or change therapists. Another issues is scheduling to begin with, it seems impossible to schedule 2 massages at or around the same time. I am calling 3 weeks out...not even "Geez how about another day" just nothing. I really don't know why we bother but my husband and I like to go in together at around the same time. the massages we have had have been ok a couple of times and were terrible last time but we have gift certificates that are not interchangeable between stores. Really who does that? Most franchises take gift cards with the company name at ALL stores. Pretty lam! read more

Scheduled an appointment for 2 people on Tuesday for Friday morning appointment. I get there and they tell me that 1 masseuse decided to not come into work that day. They could only do 1 massage instead of 2. Inconsiderate and unprofessional! They didn't offer anything for our inconvenience except for a reschedule for another day. We don't live near here. I went for a massage at Elements a couple of days ago, I am still shaking my head in disbelief. I usually nod off during a message, eyes closed. The massage was not the best, so I was restless.I decided the foot/leg massage was being done with only one hand, so I opened my eyes to check things out - discretely, The massage therapist was ON HER IPHONE....that's right $1.50 a minute and she is surfing the web - I could see the glowing of the phone. I was flabbergasted. A minute later and I can feel her tapping out the letters on her text or maybe she was switching web-sites. I was horrified and not quiet sure what to do. I started to drum my fingers on the table to shown my annoyance and she picked it up a bit. I would say she was on the phone for a third of the massage - terrible. On the way out I asked to speak with a manager ( none was in..) and asked if there was anything that might glow in the room (no) . I decided to call the manager the next day and was told that the therapist had a family crisis the day of my massage and had been crying later in the afternoon. They offered me a complimentary massage. Maybe there was a crisis - I did not get that vibe. I had to start going to the one in Beverly , I had gone several times and seen 2 therapists. One female that I really didn't enjoy and a male , Phil which I did enjoy very much.. long story short I was canceling my membership because me and my bf decided to share his (we rotate months) but before I canceled I still had a massage on my account to use, so I had asked for Phil again. At first everything was fine , I had thought his hands had gotten a bit too far up my legs but thought maybe it was just me overthinking it. Then my 60 minutes was up and he had left the room to let me dress...and as I was snapping my bra on, still basically undeessed , he comes BACK in the room!! I called out "STILL CHANGING" and he continued to walk in and just stated "I've seen it all anyways" then went on to ask me if that was gonna be my last session, I was uncomfortable so I didn't bother to explain that I WAS planning on coming back , I just ran out of there once I was finished getting dressed. So I buy a members for $59.99 with the thought of getting a massage once a month- You can either use them or give them away. Well i haven't been able to use any since January- I've being told they need thirty days notice before they can cancel your membership - however you can ONLY cancel in person- HELLO- so I go in after the first of the month- use one massage, told I have FIVE (5) left and they are going to charge me ONE (1) more month because I did it after the 1st- NOW I HAVE SIX - BUT SINCE I'M CANCELLING MY MEMEBERSHIP I HAVE THIRTY (30) yes thats (30) DAYS TO USE ALL SIX MASSAGES THAT I PAID FOR- HELLO- if i had the extra time I would have used them monthly- and why does it take four weeks to cancel my payment with the bank????????? SO in short DON"T GET sucked into buying a monthly membership unless you are sure without a doubt that you can use it every month- otherwise you'll just be giving them sixty dollars for nothing. One more thing- on my last massage I asked for a FULL body- with a level four pressure- my massage was great except for one thing- I was so tight in the shoulders that the massage therapist spent the whole hour on my back, and less then two minutes on my legs and arms- WHAT PART OF WHOLE BODY DID THEY MISS??????????????????????????????????????
