Speaking as a Michelle, I can say that not all of us can live up to this tall order, but Michelle Gallant can and does. Her hands performed miracles on my body this morning. Let me tell you more... After a week of working at a camp for kids who have a brother or sister who has died or who has a major medical illness (cancer, HIV, Sickle Cell, etc.), I was beat down tired. The kids and camp in CT were amazing. But imagine how much love and attention kids like this need. They are often left with baby sitters and for good reason, their parents are exhausted. So, we nurture them with food, fun, boating, fishing, swimming, horse back riding, camping out in the woods, games, arts, wood-shop, late night sneak outs to do candle lit chats, etc. My back is aching, feet throbbing, neck and shoulders are killing me, all the while I have been hot and sweatie chasing after and running with wolves (aka, 27 of the most energetic 11,12, and 13 year old boys and girls I have ever met). I come back to Salem, MA to spend the night at a fellow camp counselor's home before my trip back to Los Angeles, and I can barely walk. When I mention this to my hosts, they wisely suggest a massage by local healer, massage therapist, yogi, and Reiki II provider... Michelle GALLANT to the rescue! She quickly squeezed me in for an hour massage. Her fees were reasonable ($80/hr or $50 for 30), she welcomed me to her home office, had warm, safe, caring, and healing energy, and immediately stepped into the role of angel for me. She also provided me with insight about where my pain was strongest and what that meant for my psychological and emotional work. As a counselor myself, I can also tell you that she was totally accurate. But, what can I say? I am a hopeful romantic and it takes a toll on me. After I was done, I convinced my fellow male traveler to bump his appointment up from 30 min to 1 hour. We both thought she was amazing! I told my fellow camp volunteers that I would volunteer at camp again just to come back and see Michelle as a treat for a job well done. If you live in New England, make an appointment to see her.
