Decided to come in and check out the store, have passed it a few times during our walks downtown. The center of the front shop area has a bunch of bins and boxes. They're going through some structuring of their Center displays. The owner, Brendan. He's had the shop here for 38 years. That's quite a long standing. I got five antique rings resized. $120 to resize each. Brendan said he should be able to finish them within a week, even though they're quite busy. He said that they will call me when it's done, but I can also check in if they don't call me in a week. The 5 rings fit perfectly now and look great. $600 to resize five rings, at a cost of $120 per ring for the resizing. He said two rings cracked during the laser process he used to resize them, was able to fix and solder them up to look perfect. Happy with his work. read more

This is super overdue, thanks to the pandemic and life changes I've been a bit distracted (sorry!), but I went to Brendan with a unique situation where my late grandmother had given me a nugget of gold to make a ring out of it for my future wife (yeah, I know). I found Elements on yelp and checked out their website where I saw a video of the process they go through to make jewelry so I dropped in. Brendan was very kind and informative and made a process I knew nothing about really easy to understand. I gave him an idea of what we wanted and dropped off the raw materials I had on me to get my now fiancee's engagement ring and even my own wedding band. Since it was a unique gift I asked if I could come in to document the process to which he agreed. He first sent over mock-ups of the designs and answered any questions I had then had me come in when he was ready to melt down my "grandma-gold". That experience was pretty cool and huge thanks to Brendan for accommodating me. A week later it was ready for pick up and was perfect. It's been a while but thank you again Brendan and hope you and your loved ones were safe since I saw you last. read more

This place is amazing. I needed some silver spoon rings re-sized quickly so that I could wear them to a funeral. I was worried that the re-sizing process would ruin the rings. I was assured the rings would be re-sized properly and if it couldn't be done then the rings wouldn't be messed with. The rings are very sentimental and I wanted to make sure nothing bad would happen to them. The rings turned out beautiful and they were done so fast. I highly recommend this store for any jewelry services. Great customer service. Very fast. Great price. read more

As usual...Brendan and his team did a superb job with sizing my ring. Can't wait to use him again for other pieces.

The engagement ring that Brendan created for me is absolutely stunning. He was able to take ideas from my fiancée (okay, and some from my Pinterest board) and create a ring that I couldn't have even imagined - it is truly unique and I constantly receive compliments. We are absolutely having the wedding bands made by Brendan and any time I need a custom jewelry piece, this is the only place I would go. read more

I had a pair of earrings to "recycle" into a new design--high quality diamonds in a dated setting. Stopped by Elements on a whim and fell in love with several styles in the showroom. Ordered my dream recycling project plus commissioned another pair of earrings from gorgeous unset blue Zircon stones in the display cabinet. The display cabinet led to a discussion of replacement stones for a ring I was wearing. Brendan showed me a number of possibilities and we settled on a raspberry pink Rubellite tourmaline. Yes, I love the finished pieces, and no, custom jewelry isn't immediate gratification. But everything about this experience was outstanding. Highly recommended. read more

Brendan made my wife and I custom wedding rings on very short notice this past December. We wanted something very unique, inspired by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, and he delivered the perfect set of rings in time for our January wedding. He is amazing to work with, and very reasonably priced for the quality of design, materials, and craftsmanship. We had fun working with Brendan, a true artist. We will be back. read more

Brendan does a fabulous job from design to concept. He is easy to talk with and listens to his customers. He will share a new design prior to making the final piece. He also has many pieces in his shop already completed. He will offer you ideas and treat you more than fair. He is the only jeweler I will trust! I highly recommend him! read more

This place is absolutely the best. Brendan has the best knowledge base, info and resources. Quality craftsmanship and an eye for the details. Stop going to mall based jewelry heist and getting robbed of quality. read more

We went into elements because we live next door (in that cute little house) and needed to get a cross for my girlfriends father for christmas, as he had given his away to his mother when she became ill. As we were going through catalogs I heard a strange sort of whirring sound. I peeked around the corner, and there was a CNC machine working its magic. I asked the guy (Brenden, he is awesome) if it was okay if I came back there, he said of course. When I asked what they were doing he said "we make custom jewelry." I was blown away. I came back later that day and talked with them about getting a custom job done for my girlfriend for christmas. Even though it was a week before christmas and the place was a madhouse everytime I went in there Brenden was able to draw up a version of my girlfriend's logo (she is a photographer) and show me the scale, and get it made to my budget in just a few days. As if that wasn't cool enough - I had to keep coming in with my girlfriend to finish the business with my girlfriend's father's cross. The whole team did a fantastic job keeping the necklace a secret from my girlfriend, pretending that they hadn't seen me in between visits with her. I have never priced custom jewelry so i dont know if I got a good deal, but I can say that compared to my expectations based on price, and how excited my girlfriends face was when she unwrapped her one of a kind necklace, it was very much worth it. My one complaint would be that they don't have a website - but I'm biased, since thats what I do. Thanks guys you were amazing! read more

Elements is a small independent jewelery place in downtown Royal Oak. Brendan is the owner and has done a ton of work for my family and it is always flawless. His store is full of interesting things, but he specializes in custom work. Like Dave H., my husband and I got our engagement/wedding rings from him and love them. He works very hard for his customers, educating you about stones, giving his opinions, but always checking with you first. The work can take a long time, but it is top rate and beautiful. Also, I don't find him that expensive. If you took my wedding ring and went to a chain place, it would have been way more expensive. His work is gorgeous and unique, and you can't go wrong! read more

Elements Custom Jewelry Studio is a little jewelry store that has some pre-designed jewelry that is pretty cool (actually quite a bit for a custom shop), but its focus is on custom jewelry (hence the name). Brandon is the artist that will work with you to design the jewelry and then makes it right there in the back room. My wife and I got our engagement/wedding bands from him and we could not have been more pleased. He sat with us and helped us pick a style, then designed it on the computer before he made the wax mock up to make sure its what we wanted and he made the rings. He is always super-friendly and remembers us by name when we stop in almost 2 years later now. The only drawback being that it is CUSTOM jewelry, so expect it take a long time. I mean a very long time. It took about 3 months to get our rings after I first stopped in. Also, its custom work, so you'll pay for that. It actually was not as much as I expected, but it is VERY expensive. However, you get what you pay for.... if you want a simple chain and pendent, go to the mall. If you want a custom piece that no one else will have and is designed specifically to match your taste, go see Brandon. read more

My wedding ring was not purchased at Elements, but I always took it here for maintenance. Brendan and Brian always did excellent work at a reasonable price. I was hoping to own an original piece, but have since moved to Chicago and miss my go to guys. They are friendly, down to earth and produce quality work that is worth every penny. If you're in the market, you have to check this place out. read more

I had an amazing experience with Elements in designing my engagement ring! Brendan (the owner) was extremely patient and knowledgeable in helping my fiancé and I design the unique ring that I wanted. His staff was courteous and helpful as well. Elements made the design process fun and memorable. I highly recommend checking out Elements if you want to design your engagement ring and other jewelry! read more

I had a piece of jewelry that had been lost, it was of great sentimental value and I wanted to have it reproduced...I selected Elements Custom Jewelry to do the project for me and it was the absolute right decision. I met with Brendan Sherwood, reviewed the images I had of the piece and turned him loose....he developed a rendering, a 3D model and printed a rapid prototype of the piece...that allowed us to evaluate the proportions of the piece and make changes...Brendan adjusted the 3D model and printed another prototype for review....with the proportions correct and model "approved" it was time for Brendan to go to work. Brendan accepted "donor" metals that I had for use in the new piece...increasing its sentimental value for me. He quickly and efficiently completed the production of my jewelry. He was extremely professional and accommodating during the entire process. The end result is an heirloom jewelry piece that will be passed on for generations to come...THANK YOU Brendan !! read more

I had an absolutely wonderful experience and found the price to be extremely reasonable. A recent widow, I went to Elements to have my wedding ring turned into a necklace. Not only was my necklace more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, the entire staff was lovely. There were some tears on my part, but the process was touching and personal. read more

In December my wonderful Fiancée proposed and I now have the most beautiful and unique engagement ring I have ever seen. John worked with Brendan to design it, and it is stunning from every angle! I love all of the tiny details that make it so special, and the fact that my guy designed it for me makes me melt every time It catches my eye. From the side the setting looks like a little crown with diamonds at the base of each prong- they are just for me to see, rarely noticed by the many people that comment on my ring. That's the kind of detail I adore- not for show, but just to make it a little more special. Thanks Baby and thanks Brendan-you guys made the perfect ring. -Lynn read more

If you have defined a person and event as so precious that it should be commemorated in a piece of jewelry that is also precious and unique, then this is the right place to be. My wife and Brendan collaborated on my wedding ring, and Brendan and I collaborated on my daughter's gorgeous First Communion Cross. I wanted to create something elegant, simple, light, and that would engage the onlooker in a subtle and inviting way. The creative collaboration between us was well balanced, and Brendan came through with a design that is all I asked for and more. The work is extraordinary, the process was enriching, the service was excellent, everything was done on time and under budget. I recommend Elements highly, to anyone who has defined what and who is important, and needs to get it into precious elements forever. read more

I'm actually still really surprised by all the 5 star reviews for this guy. A friend recommended Brendan at Elements for custom engagement ring designs. When I first walked into the store, I was very impressed with the jewelry on display. It's one of the few stores I've been in that have tastefully sized diamonds -- not the gaudy overpriced stuff you see at Tiffany. Very modest and classy. However, I found Brendan to be a pretty flaky business person! He came up with some great designs for my ring BUT he did dodge my calls and emails for a good 2 week period citing personal life issues. That's fine, but don't let your business go down the toilet because of it - hire a secretary! Do something, don't ignore me! I'm dropping several thousand dollars with you, dude! The thing that stuck out the most with the experience is that I am pretty petite. So we had picked out a diamond that was .59 carats and a perfect oval. When we go to pick up the final piece, I'm looking at it on my hand and I said, "Wow. The diamond looks HUGE on my finger." But what do I know, I'm just an artist who pays impeccable attention to detail! Brendan even says, "Ya I really had to pound that diamond into the setting." He hands us the certificate, and sure enough, it wasn't the diamond we had picked out. It was a .70 carat oval, that appeared more round than oval! If I weren't such an honest person, this guy would have been out almost $600-800! So the ring had to be REDONE! The second setting ending up being a bit big for my finger, where as the mistake one had fit my finger perfectly. To add insult to injury, when I brought the right ring back to have it "cleaned," he gave it back to me still dirty! I had to take it to AHEE's in Grosse Pointe to have it cleaned and they made it SPARKLE again! NOT worth the hassle and aggravation, especially for something as important as an engagement ring. Brendan's flakiness really took the fun out of everything. Of course I don't realize this until much much later, but the friend who recommended him also said he had issues with Brendan's flakiness and felt bad for recommending him to me. FLAKE!!!! read more

The customer service we received at Elements Custom Jewelry Studio was outstanding!!! Brendan was very professional and extremely helpful. He created one of a kind wedding band for our wedding and we couldn't be happier with the quality/design. Brendan was able to meet our deadline even though we came to him few weeks prior to our wedding date. The sizing on both wedding bands is perfect, few months later and they're still very comfortable. Since our overall experience was exceptional, we HIGHLY recommend Elements Custom Jewelry Studio. You won't be disappointed with the quality and service! read more

Brendan, the owner of this wonderful little shop, is top notch, as attested by the many people who have commented on the wedding bands and engagement ring my partner and I purchased from him. He's a gifted artist and his ever-expanding portfolio is evidence of someone whose craft is thoughtful, creative, and deliberate. He is amenable to working within the expectations (budgetary, time-frame, etc.) of customers. Perhaps just as important... Brendan is incredibly warm and hospitable. My partner and I both valued out time spent with him deliberating and planning what turned out to be pieces that we will treasure for many years to come! read more

Brendan did an amazing job on our engagement and wedding rings. I visited several jewelers with a custom design while deciding who would make my wife's engagement ring. I am so glad I went with Brendan. Other jewelers either didn't understand what I wanted to do or just tried to push their own ideas, but Brendan took the time to understand exactly what my vision was for the rings. He was able to take my pictures and ideas and create a beautiful wedding ring set. My wife gets constant compliments about how unique and beautiful her engagement ring is. We went through several ring re-sizings until we got the fit just right - free of charge. Brendan is a talented artist, and I highly recommend him for any custom work. read more

Great place for custom work. I bought my fiancee's engagement ring here. The prices and work was great. Brendan was super helpful and did a great job creating the ring I wanted as well as staying within my price range. I didn't have a time line to have it done and started the process in November which I assume is a busy time for them and it took about 5 weeks for the whole process, so plan ahead. I'm sure they can/will do things faster but quality takes time and if you want some crappy rush job then go to a chain place. The ring turned out perfect and we will be going back to get our wedding rings there. read more

Hours of operation are either wrong or they were seriously late to work. Walked up and door was locked when Yelp and their door said they should be open. Elements Custom Jewelry Studio is a small jewelry store that offers you the opportunity to design your own jewelry design or the the opportunity to purchase and edit pre-designed jewelry displayed and worked on location with a focus on custom jewelry. Brendan, the owner and primary jeweler, is a trustworthy person and Jeweler, will patiently work with you to design (if needed) and create jewelry to your personal liking. I would recommend patience with Brendan as this is not the "fast-food" of jewelry. They are custom jewelry and potential future family air-looms being created. Brendan offers you the opportunity to hang-out in his work shop and participate in the design and construction of your piece. This makes the journey of creating your jewelry that much more significant. I have designed 4 pieces of jewelry with Element Jewelers crafting my vision while maintaining the passion throughout the execution, to the finished product(s). I look forward to more jewelry adventures in the near future! read more

I have done business with Brendan and Elements for approximately twenty years. I can't remember how many pieces of fine jewelry he has designed for my wife, but I bet she would know! We keep coming back because Brendan is an excellent jewelry designer and artisan. My wife has never been disappointed. Both my daughter had their wedding rings designed and made by Brendan. I guess the best recommendation I can give is I keep coming back and I really don't shop for unique, fine jewelry anywhere els. read more

I can't say enough about their skill, flexibility, and professionalism. After months of worrying that I'd never find someone that could make something so unique and specific, Brendan said "Sure. We can make that." And they did. In a spectacular way! Thanks, team! read more

This has become the first stop my (now) husband and I make when we need jewelry as a gift - or for ourselves. We got engaged last year and went to Brendan for our engagement ring - we heard of him from someone we didn't know that well at a party, but we wanted to keep our ring shopping local. We designed our engagement ring with his help (we didn't know what we were doing) and we absolutely love what we have. Since then, we've bought several pieces for other events, plus our wedding bands and wedding party gifts with Elements. The service, the quality, and the overall operation is just fantastic. Brendan listens to what his customers want, but it's more than that, too - he pays attention to other details so if you aren't sure of what you want (like I do, sometimes), he has a pretty good idea of where to start looking. He's a great businessman, and an even better artist. You won't be sorry or disappointed by coming here, be sure of that. read more

By chance, my husband stumbled upon this jewelry store and we have been thrilled with the service. Brendan has been very upfront and honest with us and it has been great to work with him. He takes his time with customers. We have had him repair and tweak a couple of pieces of jewelry for us and we have been very happy with the outcome. I am looking forward to the day that my husband and I can afford some custom jewelry -- and we will be sure to have Brendan design it. He has gained my trust over the several times I have used his services and I feel safe leaving my jewelry in his care. I have been most impressed with his customer service. read more

Brendan made the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen! He worked so closely designing the ring with my fiancée every step of the way. My ring is inspired by the video game the legend of Zelda and he researched the game and got the details down perfectly. So very detailed and you can tell he takes pride in his work. I honestly can't stop staring at my ring not to be vain but it's perfect. So if your looking for a non traditional customized ring this is the place to go!
