Decided to come in and check out the store, have passed it a few times during our walks downtown. The center of the front shop area has a bunch of bins and boxes. They're going through some structuring of their Center displays. The owner, Brendan. He's had the shop here for 38 years. That's quite a long standing. I got five antique rings resized. $120 to resize each. Brendan said he should be able to finish them within a week, even though they're quite busy. He said that they will call me when it's done, but I can also check in if they don't call me in a week. The 5 rings fit perfectly now and look great. $600 to resize five rings, at a cost of $120 per ring for the resizing. He said two rings cracked during the laser process he used to resize them, was able to fix and solder them up to look perfect. Happy with his work. read more

This is super overdue, thanks to the pandemic and life changes I've been a bit distracted (sorry!), but I went to Brendan with a unique situation where my late grandmother had given me a nugget of gold to make a ring out of it for my future wife (yeah, I know). I found Elements on yelp and checked out their website where I saw a video of the process they go through to make jewelry so I dropped in. Brendan was very kind and informative and made a process I knew nothing about really easy to understand. I gave him an idea of what we wanted and dropped off the raw materials I had on me to get my now fiancee's engagement ring and even my own wedding band. Since it was a unique gift I asked if I could come in to document the process to which he agreed. He first sent over mock-ups of the designs and answered any questions I had then had me come in when he was ready to melt down my "grandma-gold". That experience was pretty cool and huge thanks to Brendan for accommodating me. A week later it was ready for pick up and was perfect. This place is amazing. I needed some silver spoon rings re-sized quickly so that I could wear them to a funeral. I was worried that the re-sizing process would ruin the rings. I was assured the rings would be re-sized properly and if it couldn't be done then the rings wouldn't be messed with. The rings are very sentimental and I wanted to make sure nothing bad would happen to them. The rings turned out beautiful and they were done so fast. I had a pair of earrings to "recycle" into a new design--high quality diamonds in a dated setting. Stopped by Elements on a whim and fell in love with several styles in the showroom. Ordered my dream recycling project plus commissioned another pair of earrings from gorgeous unset blue Zircon stones in the display cabinet. The display cabinet led to a discussion of replacement stones for a ring I was wearing. Brendan showed me a number of possibilities and we settled on a raspberry pink Rubellite tourmaline. Yes, I love the finished pieces, and no, custom jewelry isn't immediate gratification. But everything about this experience was outstanding. Highly recommended. read more

We went into elements because we live next door (in that cute little house) and needed to get a cross for my girlfriends father for christmas, as he had given his away to his mother when she became ill. As we were going through catalogs I heard a strange sort of whirring sound. I peeked around the corner, and there was a CNC machine working its magic. I asked the guy (Brenden, he is awesome) if it was okay if I came back there, he said of course. When I asked what they were doing he said "we make custom jewelry." I was blown away. I came back later that day and talked with them about getting a custom job done for my girlfriend for christmas. Even though it was a week before christmas and the place was a madhouse everytime I went in there Brenden was able to draw up a version of my girlfriend's logo (she is a photographer) and show me the scale, and get it made to my budget in just a few days. As if that wasn't cool enough - I had to keep coming in with my girlfriend to finish the business with my girlfriend's father's cross. The whole team did a fantastic job keeping the necklace a secret from my girlfriend, pretending that they hadn't seen me in between visits with her. I have never priced custom jewelry so i dont know if I got a good deal, but I can say that compared to my expectations based on price, and how excited my girlfriends face was when she unwrapped her one of a kind necklace, it was very much worth it. My one complaint would be that they don't have a website - but I'm biased, since thats what I do. Thanks guys you were amazing! read more

Elements is a small independent jewelery place in downtown Royal Oak. Brendan is the owner and has done a ton of work for my family and it is always flawless. His store is full of interesting things, but he specializes in custom work. Like Dave H., my husband and I got our engagement/wedding rings from him and love them. He works very hard for his customers, educating you about stones, giving his opinions, but always checking with you first. The work can take a long time, but it is top rate and beautiful. Also, I don't find him that expensive. If you took my wedding ring and went to a chain place, it would have been way more expensive. His work is gorgeous and unique, and you can't go wrong! read more

Elements Custom Jewelry Studio is a little jewelry store that has some pre-designed jewelry that is pretty cool (actually quite a bit for a custom shop), but its focus is on custom jewelry (hence the name). Brandon is the artist that will work with you to design the jewelry and then makes it right there in the back room. My wife and I got our engagement/wedding bands from him and we could not have been more pleased. He sat with us and helped us pick a style, then designed it on the computer before he made the wax mock up to make sure its what we wanted and he made the rings. He is always super-friendly and remembers us by name when we stop in almost 2 years later now. The only drawback being that it is CUSTOM jewelry, so expect it take a long time. I mean a very long time. It took about 3 months to get our rings after I first stopped in. Also, its custom work, so you'll pay for that. It actually was not as much as I expected, but it is VERY expensive. However, you get what you pay for.... if you want a simple chain and pendent, go to the mall. If you want a custom piece that no one else will have and is designed specifically to match your taste, go see Brandon. read more

I'm actually still really surprised by all the 5 star reviews for this guy. A friend recommended Brendan at Elements for custom engagement ring designs. When I first walked into the store, I was very impressed with the jewelry on display. It's one of the few stores I've been in that have tastefully sized diamonds -- not the gaudy overpriced stuff you see at Tiffany. Very modest and classy. However, I found Brendan to be a pretty flaky business person! He came up with some great designs for my ring BUT he did dodge my calls and emails for a good 2 week period citing personal life issues. That's fine, but don't let your business go down the toilet because of it - hire a secretary! Do something, don't ignore me! I'm dropping several thousand dollars with you, dude! The thing that stuck out the most with the experience is that I am pretty petite. So we had picked out a diamond that was .59 carats and a perfect oval. When we go to pick up the final piece, I'm looking at it on my hand and I said, "Wow. The diamond looks HUGE on my finger." But what do I know, I'm just an artist who pays impeccable attention to detail! Brendan even says, "Ya I really had to pound that diamond into the setting." He hands us the certificate, and sure enough, it wasn't the diamond we had picked out. It was a .70 carat oval, that appeared more round than oval! If I weren't such an honest person, this guy would have been out almost $600-800! So the ring had to be REDONE! The second setting ending up being a bit big for my finger, where as the mistake one had fit my finger perfectly. To add insult to injury, when I brought the right ring back to have it "cleaned," he gave it back to me still dirty! I had to take it to AHEE's in Grosse Pointe to have it cleaned and they made it SPARKLE again! NOT worth the hassle and aggravation, especially for something as important as an engagement ring. Brendan's flakiness really took the fun out of everything. Of course I don't realize this until much much later, but the friend who recommended him also said he had issues with Brendan's flakiness and felt bad for recommending him to me. FLAKE!!!! read more

Great place for custom work. I bought my fiancee's engagement ring here. The prices and work was great. Brendan was super helpful and did a great job creating the ring I wanted as well as staying within my price range. I didn't have a time line to have it done and started the process in November which I assume is a busy time for them and it took about 5 weeks for the whole process, so plan ahead. I'm sure they can/will do things faster but quality takes time and if you want some crappy rush job then go to a chain place.
