We were a little confused about how the tv worked since it seemed that other guests were signed in to the streaming platforms, but that was likely user error. Perhaps a little note about logging in to streaming services next to the TV might be useful for others in the future. We were also able to access live channels. The room was clean, and had a microwave and mini fridge for our leftovers after eating out or for small grocery items from CalMart. The location is great and a short walk to downtown Calistoga. We were provided with robes at check in which were useful for the hot tubs and pools. There are two mineral water hot tubs of different temperatures and one large mineral pool for swimming. There are showers and changing rooms available in the pool area as well. They provided bicycles and helmets that we could take to ride during the desk hours. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Calistoga and checked into the hotel and spa. While a few of us checked in for our massages, my daughter and partner checked into our room. The massages were wonderful, we were very relaxed and went back to the room to change to swimwear. Note: The flavored waters near the spa are delicious, try them all. Our room was a really nice renovated King Suite, that also has a Queen bedroom attached. A little kitchen area, fridge sink and table, then the restroom area with added storage and seating. The pool is amazing, the water is so fresh and relaxing. The two hot tubs are heated to separate temperatures, it was just so nice to spend time going there. I found the early morning swim to be the best way to start my day. On my departure day, I decided to try a mud-bath treatment with my sister and although it was not my first time, I realized that mud baths are just not my thing. Staff was great, the spa was fantastic, hotel and pool were so relaxing. I would definitely book another weekend at the Golden Haven and recommend you treat yourself too.

A Very Talented Massage Therapist…read more I recently visited the Flamingo Hotel and stumbled upon the Spa at Montecito which is located behind the Hotel adjacent to the tennis courts. My shoulder had been bothering me due to an injury and I thought that a massage could help. OMG! I had the good fortune to find myself under Elyse's skilled hands. Within a few minutes of answering her very astute questions and addressing my concerns, she went to work on me. I should rephrase and say that "we" went to work on me. Within that 80 minute session under Elyse's guidance, I found that I was breathing rhythmically, completely letting my stress go and as she put it..."being here now." Her touch was focused and adjusted to my level of sensitivity. Her knowledge about anatomy and how it works and...MY SHOULDER !! So much better!!! But there was more. After our massage ended, Elyse asked that I sit up on the table for the last few minutes we had left and assisted me through a few movement exercises. They weren't easy and I was asked to breathe "through any discomfort." I did and I walked away pain free!!! She informed me that my work wasn't done and that if I didn't continue on my own with the exercises she gave me, I'd be back soon with the same problems. Weeks later, I'm doing my homework diligently, keeping my pain under control and I'm STILL going back even though I'm no longer in pain :) I can't wait. Montecito is fortunate to have on their staff, Elyse Briggs, a very talented therapist.

It was a great spa vibe to get dressed in our robes and relax before each of our services. Once we were all dressed in our robes, we went into a waiting room for our therapist to see us. They were there instantly when we got there which was because we didn't have to wait too long. I had my massage and it was really good. I loved the therapist that I worked with and she was great. After my massage was over, I met back up with my SIL and sister. My sister seemed kind of unhappy and when I asked why, she said that she had booked her treatment for cupping and an intense massage but that isn't what she got. She didn't want to make a big deal about it. My SIL eventually went to the front desk and after awhile got it sorted out that they had a system error in their booking. They could still offer my sister the cupping but we'd have to wait a bit to do it. It was good that she was able to do the cupping but disappointing that her relaxing had to be disrupted and we ended up being there longer than anticipated and had to move some plans around. Overall it worked itself out and we still enjoyed our visit. They did a good job of handling the hiccup.

Theres one downstairs for younger children and one upstairs for older kids. They also have parents night out events that let you drop your kids off for pizza and movies. They have lots of options to choose between for all types of fitness levels and interests. They have a great weight room area and equally great machine area, they have yoga rooms, stationary bike room, a rock climbing wall and much more. The recreational pool is heated, lap pool isn't and the kiddie pool isn't either but it's a great cold plunge in the winter. I usually hit that then the sauna before my workouts. They have a basketball court inside and pickle ball courts outside in the back which always has action on them. Theres so much more they offer but I still have not had the chance to try it all out. Their juice/ snack bar is amazing. The soups and wraps are fire!! I highly recommend this place, especially if you have kids. The staff is great and the place is clean. I also asked about adding on the Bath House ($45 for guests enjoying day-of services) and was told there was availability. On Mondays, it's women only and clothing optional. Per the website, they can accommodate up to 20 ladies. After visiting the Bath House, I would say that feels a bit tight as the space is on the smaller side. Bring a towel if you can. Towel rentals are $8. The Bath House includes 3 private soaking tubs (curtain for privacy), 2 saunas (infrared and dry), 2 cold water plunge tubs, 2 showers, and a heated BioMat. I spent a few hours rotating through all of the amenities. It was a quiet day which made it extra relaxing because there were very few guests. Guests are expected to drain and clean the tubs after use. There are directions posted on the walls. This is not the spa's fault, but I was a bit bummed when I went to try the copper cold plunge tub and found it full of used water. I ended up having to drain and clean it twice since I wanted to clean it after I used it too. The saunas are small. Each sauna can fit 1 person comfortably. Perhaps 2 if you don't mind getting cozy? The BioMat allowed me to take a short nap. Theres small bumps and heat for a gentle amount of pressure. I enjoyed both of the saunas. The steam room felt too stuffy for me personally. The private soaking tub was relaxing. You can adjust the water temperature and I was able to add the bath salts that the front desk staff gave me complimentary. There is a 45 min time limit so that everyone has a chance to use the private soaking tubs. Again, this is more enjoyable when there are less guests so you don't feel rushed. Drinking water and cups are provided. I'd say it's worth $45 but after spending a few hours I could see myself getting bored. The Bliss Signature Massage 90 minutes was the highlight of my spa experience. Melody was my massage therapist. I'm so glad I paid more to get 90 minutes instead of 60. Melody asked me which parts of my body I wanted to focus on and asked if I was okay if she incorporated gua sha into the massage. I've never had a massage therapist do that before but I really liked it! The gua sha helped to target areas of tension in my shoulders. She warned me that I would have a few marks on my back, and they're already starting to fade away. I felt so relaxed after. When it came time to pay, the receptionist told me the total and I went on with my day. When I finally looked at the itemized receipt that was emailed to me, I noticed I was charged incorrectly. I called the spa and the receptionist was apologetic and promised me she would refund me the difference the next day. I checked my credit card statement and I see the refund is processing. Mistakes happen and I appreciate how she resolved it quickly!
