You'll find your standard fare of seafood and freshwater fish including catfish (my fav), salmon, porgy, whiting and talapia. Selection is mostly local varieties (snapper, salmon, perch, tilapia etc), most are whole fish but a few are sliced or in steaks, unfortunately no sashimi grade cuts but let's face it, I wasn't expecting there to be. All different sizes, and for good prices. I picked up a small 1-pound red snapper (which they cleaned for me), as well as 2 lbs of their Connecticut mussels. They also had oysters, but they were Blue Points, which aren't my favorite. Got home and cooked everything, and it was quality all around. I now know that I can house 2 lbs of mussels in a single sitting... Cash only!

The last pick up time is 1 pm. If you are taking a train, I took L train from 14th street Union Square to Bedford and it was a short walk from there. The prices were very good. They also had a couple of things there you can just buy. Smoked fish pieces and pet treats. My order was ready and there was no wait.

Avenue U Fish Market is clean and creamy smelling, just like right out of the water fresh. I bought soft-shell crabs last weekend that were the best I have ever had in my 60 years. I know for a fact that their salmon is high-quality and delicious. One of the things I keep coming back for are the crab cakes. They get them from a local small business on Long Island I believe. They come frozen and you just have to heat them up in the oven for about 20 to 25 minutes or pan fry them for 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Hard to find really good crabcakes and these are definitely worth it at $4.25 a piece.

Does business as 'Seafood Premium'…read more So my boy Andrew and I meet up and he tells me about this place that steams and seasons any fish you pick out, along with veggies. After a long walk in the Brooklyn sunshine we arrive to a place, right under the J/M/Z Marcy stop. It doesn't look fabulous. There's one table with three chairs. Fish on ice, a cold case with frozen onion rings [10 for a dollar!!], salads and so on. The real deal is the dollar packs of veggies. Red potatoes, snap beans, carrots, cabbage, corn, and more. You buy some of those, and then you pick out a nice slab of fish. They weigh it, then ask you what seasonings you want on it. We both ordered it with 'everything'. They splash some sink water on it, and into the steamer it goes. Five minutes later you get a styrofoam pack with your food in it. They have squeeze bottles of hot sauce, melted butter and ketchup and so on. Did my story sound horribly low class? Are you quivering in fear of bacteria? Well then let those feelings go. It was awesome! We took our food to the park and enjoyed it. Next time I'm telling em go easy on the salt but man...hot sauce on seasoned tilapia plus melted butter on veggies...so awesome.
