One of my grandfathers died from skin cancer (Melanoma) in 2006 and my other grandfather had basal cell carcinoma. So, I started early in my teenage years with annual body scans looking for potentially cancerous spots. I had a number of spots taken off here when I first came in, those were elevated from the surrounding skin on my neck. I had other concerning spots removed later. Towards the end of my time coming here, they took a biopsy of a spot which turned out to be in-situ melanoma (skin cancer), however they directed me to a different doctor in California for follow-through since I had just moved there (this process was in 2015). Returning after the surgery, I got a dermatologist who was a little skittish that I was 23 years old and had already had skin cancer. It was not the biggest confidence builder, and making time on my visits to my parents to come here for an appointment drew away from family time, so eventually I found a new dermatologist(s) in California.
