I was on an 18 day business trip, multiple cities and 6 hotels. I had a busy day of meetings in NJ and had planned to fly out of Newark the next morning at 6am... Hands down my favorite hotel I stayed in!! Of the 6 hotels I stayed in two 5 star hotels and element blew them out of the water! The customer service was spot on! The bar was perfect for after work emails and Peter was stellar and attentive. If I didn't have an early morning flight j probably would have closed that place down. Ingrid was super nice and helpful at the front desk and every associate I met during my time had a smile and greeted me. If I am ever in the area again I will stay here and recommend anyone who is looking for a place to stay close to red bull arena, five guys is across the street and next door there is a market. But you can buy a lot of items in the market downstairs. I loved the rooms, very roomy and had a kitchen! Also really liked the fitness center!! Kudos Element Harrison, great stay!! Pros: service and huge rooms! Cons: not perfect for the light sleeper, close to trains, but it didn't bother me. read more

Excellent hotel conveniently located right next to the Harrison PATH. I arrived early in the morning on a red eye flight and the hotel accommodated me with early check in despite all the rooms were sold out the night before. Rooms are modern and very simple. It is a plus to have a full kitchen as I can cook when I'm sick and tired of restaurant food. A few things I don't like about the hotel and hope that this feedback would help hotel management: no self closing cabinet doors, drawers; no room service unless I tell the front desk, and cold/frozen breakfast sandwich. read more

Love this green hotel. Front desk was super nice and allowed us to check in really early after a grueling day traveling. The hotel and room is clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was also tasty, eggs, waffles, sausage, yogurt, fruit, juice. This location was perfect too. Literally a 1 min walk to board the Path train to NYC. You can be in the city in like 20 mins. There is a liquor store, 5 Guys, Dunkin right down stairs. read more

my family had a very nice experience here. the staff was very welcoming and the building was new and beautiful. the hotel offers a shuttle that take you to and from the newark airport and the drivers every time we went were very nice and good drivers. there is also a path train station that takes you to the world trade center or other places. it is just about a 1-2 minute walk from the hotel which is nice when it is freezing outside. when we arrived at the hotel which was on christmas day they had cookies, eggnog, and hot chocolate in the front lobby for guests. we really appreciated that after a long day of traveling. the room we got was on the opposite side of the building from the trains and we could hear them slightly sometimes so i can imagine how it was on the side closest to the trains. the room was very clean and pretty. it had two full size beds and a couch. it had a tv that was supposed to swivel from the couch view to the bed view but it didn't stay where we placed it so we had to lean something on the back of it so it would stay. the bathroom was elegant and sleek. perfect selfie lighting! we had a window in the room that overlooked noting but a brick wall, which kinda sucked. the room had a gorgeous and large kitchenette area with just about every kitchen appliance you may need for a short trip with lots of storage. also a full size fridge for all your leftovers and other food items. only 2 stools and they were very uncomfortable. the breakfasts in the morning were pretty bad honestly. everything was obviously frozen and just put out to eat and it was all pretty much cold. the only thing i ate the whole time was the muffins because they were good. the coffee here is absolutely HORRENDOUS! it's actually terribly horrible. also the evening snacks thing is pretty okay, but don't expect anything great out of it. it's mostly just like chips and dip or little things like that. they also give only one drink per adult in the room which made my parents a little disappointed. the one day that we didn't put out the do not disturb sign to get our room cleaned no one even came up. the trash went untook and the sheets went unchanged. we had to go downstairs to the front desk to tell them no one came up and then they sent someone up but it was disappointing that no one came to clean the room. i feel like i'm listing all these bad things but really they were inconsequential to my stay. the hotel as a whole was really quite nice and i would recommend it to anyone staying in the area. if we travel back we will be returning. read more

Very much enjoyed my stay at the Element. Great rooms, spacious and modern with clean lines and calming earth-toned decor. My room had a full kitchen, adjacent living room area and two separate, large bedrooms. So comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was yummy, with a full array of fare, beautifully displayed. There's also a small but sweet bar/lounge just off the lobby area where I enjoyed an evening glass of wine. This is a dog friendly hotel, which makes me happy, even though I did not have my pooch along for this trip. The hotel is smartly located in an up and coming urban neighborhood with new restaurants and coffee shops to explore, plus it's ideally situated next to the Harrison Path station for easy, inexpensive and quick trips into NYC and back. I enjoyed dinner just a short block away at Ah' Pizz Restaurant (to die for baked pear/arugula salad with pecans and goat cheese!). Dunkin' Donuts is steps away, as is Coperaco Cafe which offers wonderful coffees, teas, soups, quick bites and dessert in modern European inspired surroundings where atmosphere is king (shhh! there's a library in the upstairs loft). I'd like to thank the hard working staff at the Element Harrison-Newark for making my stay so relaxing and enjoyable. read more

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and had an excellent experience. Check in was easy and the employees at the front desk were really friendly. Our room was really clean so you could tell the hotel was brand new. Free coffee in the lobby all day which was a HUGE plus. We had to get to the Newark Penn Train Station to get home so we booked the hotels shuttle in advance which made our journey home smooth. I recommend the shuttle to travel around the area but make sure you make a reservation with the front desk. Overall, a great stay. read more

Stayed here this past weekend for Valentines Day. The hotel was super clean and modern. The one bedroom suite was super cute and hade everything we needed for the weekend- a living room, kitchen, bathroom and separate bedroom. The kitchen had a full sized fridge, a dishwasher, an electric stovetop with two burners and a sink. There was plenty of counter space but the room also included a portable mobile counter which was very handy. Overall the room had a very "ikea" vibe. Very clean, modern, and matching wonderfully. The staff was awesome and helped us with anything we needed, including helping secure a (free!!) shuttle anywhere we needed to go within a 3 mile radius. The hotel was also pet friendly and did not charge a fee for her to stay in the room which was a heaven-send for us since we did not want to leave her alone at home. Highly recommend! read more

I have never posted a bad review of a hotel before but in this case our experience with this hotel was so bad that I was inspired to let people know. I actually tried to post a review on their website and it isn't working properly (I clicked "write a review" and it brought me to the reservations page). We booked this hotel because we were flying out of Newark Airport at 9:10 am. We live 1 hour and 10 minutes away from the airport and in the past have stayed at the Sheraton (which is now no longer a Sheraton), at the Marriott or the Hilton when we have morning flights. They all have frequent shuttle services to the airport and make it easy to get there. When I saw that Starwood had a new hotel in Newark that is less than 5 miles from the airport, I assumed we would have a similar experience. Being Newark, I was not expecting an exceptional hotel, just a clean bed to sleep in and a lift to the airport in the morning. I booked through Starwood Preferred Guest services (my husband and I are both Platinum members) and was told that there is a shuttle that leaves for the airport every half hour on the hour and on the half hour and we planned to take the 7:30 shuttle to give us some leeway. When we checked in, we inquired about the shuttle. We were told we could leave at 7 or at 8. We were concerned that 8 was a bit tight, but 7 was definitely too early. We said that our understanding was that there was a shuttle every half hour and they said, yes there is, but someone has booked the shuttle for 8 so we can't book it for 7:30 because the shuttle might not be back in time to pick these other people up. They said that it takes 20 minutes to get to the airport and 20 minutes to get back, although Google Maps says it is an 11 minute trip. I asked if it would be possible to ask the people who had booked the shuttle if they would mind leaving at 7:45 and was told that they actually had wanted to leave later than 8 so 7:45 would probably be too early for them and besides, the shuttle only leaves on the hour and half hour, albeit it doesn't actually leave on the hour and half hour. The two girls at the front desk did not seem to realize the inconsistency in what they were saying and had no apparent interest in figuring out how we could get to the airport at a reasonable hour. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager in the hotel. At this point I called Starwood Preferred and the man I spoke with confirmed that both the Starwood website and the hotel's website said that the shuttle departs every half hour. He said he would try to get a manager on the phone and would call me back (he didn't). The girls at the front desk finally said they could arrange for a taxi which would cost $30. It turns out that Uber only costs $10-13 (I've never heard of Uber costing less than a taxi) and they did not mention the Path train which apparently is 2-3 minutes away and runs to the airport. I finally (thought that I had) convinced the girls to speak with the couple who wanted to leave later than 8 to see if it would by OK if we took the shuttle at 7:30 and the shuttle got stuck in traffic and didn't make it back until after 8. When we got up this morning, the front desk had heard nothing about this and we ended up taking the 7 AM shuttle. So I could have stayed in my own bed at home if I'd known I had to leave by 7 am. Mostly, I was annoyed by the complete lack of customer service and lack of understanding of why we might be upset. Interestingly, I just checked their website and they have removed any mention of the shuttle service (it was there last night! and is still on spg.com). (and by the way, it only took about 10 minutes to get to the airport) read more

We bought tickets for a show at Prudential Center and made a last minute decision to stay at this hotel .pictures looked good .check in was easy .our shower was handicap shower and we thought it would not be a problem until my husband took one water was all over in the bathroom and even in the floor of our room . So we called the front desk and requested them to address the issue .they sent someone with a plunger .we had to go the event so didn't had much time .waited for them to get back .to our despair nobody responded .we thought it would be good to grab something to eat so went down to the Restuarant .ceasar salad tasted like Fish .while we were waiting for the food the technician who came to the room was chatting away with the front staff .its been hour and a half no response and after I called them again I was informed that they will send towels for me to clean up the floor .i requested them to change our room since we didn't know what was wrong with the shower and 3 of us still had to bathe and get ready for the evening .there were rooms available she was asking for $ 25-$30 for an upgrade .i was really taken aback with it since this didn't happen in a timely manner .i was given an option by Molly either I pay the upgrade or let the water be all over and clean it up myself .they sent someone with a bunch of towels .i showed her the water and she took pity on me and help me clean it .stay away from this hotel read more

Stayed here around Thanksgiving. I am sick to my stomach every time I think about it. The first night we had to switch rooms because there was a family next door that kept us up from 2 am to 330am. We called the front desk to request that they ask them to quiet down then requested to get moved the next night which they accommodated but we left a few items in the room that were not returned to us. Jewelry that my Father gave me 17yrs ago when I turned 18. Staff was nice which I don't understand but either they don't clean the rooms thoroughly and missed it or are just heartless and don't want to return property that is not theirs. It breaks my heart.. I realize it was my fault but with the lack of sleep due to noise and traveling- it turned a good memory into the worst part of the trip. Do not forget anything here or you will never get it back :( read more

This was one of the nicest hotel that I have seen so far for spg. The bed don't smells old the sheets are clean and there's a kitchen inside your room I find that super convenient I wish they all had that. Also the bathroom's shower head looks pretty cool nice and big they have two of them one small one and one big one. I really like it definitely would come back. read more

We flew in late to Newark and had a long day of traveling, our cards had restrictions on them and were declining due to our banks being unsure of the charges in a foreign place. They were patient, kind and didn't make us feel as embarrassed as we were. They accommodated us and we got everything figured out. Not to mention that this is a beautiful place to stay, like a swanky NYC apartment. To the bathroom lightening (you know movie star lighting) and very comfortable beds. Really couldn't have asked for a better place on my first time back East! read more

When going to New York with family we usually stay at this hotel. We are SPG rewards members so we usually get early check in which I know isn't guaranteed. Our check in was for 10:00 am but we got there at 9:00 am and we let them know. They said that they were at full capacity last night and it would be awhile. No problem this has happened before. In the past the front desk called housekeeping to let them know to clean a room that we paid for because guest were waiting. This time the front desk didn't seem to care. I had to be some where at noon and needed to change. I have seen a few families check out. So it takes well over an hour and a half to clean one room and we are the only people here at the time to check in. My day is screwed. 04/15/17 Date of service. Now it's noon and not one room has become available! read more

We booked here because it was so much cheaper than booking a hotel in New York City. The hotel is literally 300 feet from the PATH station which made traveling in and out of the city a breeze. They have a complimentary shuttle service to take you to and from the airport and anywhere within a 5 mile radius. The hotel itself is beautifully modern in both amenities and decoration and provided an awesome continental breakfast every morning. The staff was generally pleasant outside of a couple of late night employees who had no clue what they were doing (cost them a star in my review). The manager, John however, should be the example for all other hotel managers to follow. He set up a car service for us when using the shuttle wasn't an option, he returned our calls within minutes and couldn't have been more pleasant. At the end of our stay my entire family got sick and John allowed us to stay until 4pm at no extra charge and still booked their shuttle service for us to get to the airport. I'll be looking for other Element Hotels for further vacations. read more

Common areas were also nicely decorated...staff was very friendly and helpful...especially Catherine who helped us with directions to the city...she was very kind and polite. We were very disappointed in our stay. Based upon the website and description of the hotel, we had much higher hopes than how it actually turned out. There was no major issue we had, and it was esthetically as nice as the website shows, but there was a bunch of little things that added up that bummed us out. We decided to go on a last minute family trip and really had no issue spending money on a good hotel. First of all, the customer service sucks. The staff looked miserable and made you feel like you're a bother. The food at the "restaurant" The Station, was awful. The bartender/waitress was nasty and rude and cared more about flirting with her guests than serving her tables. Again, the room was nice and very clean. Great shower. Very uncomfortable couch, comfortable bed but bad pillows. The pool was open until 11pm which was cool, but it was actually pretty cold for an indoor pool which I was surprised about. We actually had to call down to the front desk around 5pm to request room service because no one came. They finally came around 5:30 and made our beds.... the coffee was not replenished and they did not give us towels nor was the garbage taken out. When we got back and saw this, we called down to the front desk where we were given an attitude and told we had to come down and get them because she was the only staff member on that evening. Really?? A (very displeased) maintenance guy wound up bringing towels to our rooms. The free breakfast? Really disgusting. Powdered eggs. We just grabbed package oatmeal, toast and fruit. Also, we were told that housekeeping does not do the dishes in the room. I'm not high maintenance by any means, and very rarely do I actually review, but we were really looking for a nice accommodating hotel. I did not want to travel to eat disgusting food and do my own dishes, especially at this nightly rate. On a positive note, the coffee was good. read more

When I booked this hotel, they said they provide cribs. I requested a crib a month in advance. The day before I travelled and even the same day I was travelling, I called in and they assured me there is a crib in the room. When I arrive that night, when checking in, the lady at the front desk says there's a crib in the room. When i get to the room, there's NO CRIB in the room. I call downstairs and the lady at the front desk then tells me we will figure something out. After about an hour of waiting and no response i go downstairs to see what's going on. She then tells me she's sorry she cant do nothing about it because she's not certified to put up a crib. She tells me to talk to someone about it in the morning. Anyways, the following morning I went to the front desk again and complained about the situation. They told me they have told housekeeping about it and they will definitely make sure they put a crib in my room. I come back late that night and again theres NO CRIB ugh!!! The lady at the front desk again says shes sorry but theres nothing she can do. Anyways Long story short, I was up all night for 2 nights! Did not sleep because I was scared the baby will roll off the bed. This was the worst experience ever!!! I will not recommend anyone to stay here if they have a baby! read more
