She didn't hurt me while taking the old gel off, she was easily able to recreate my reference photo on my nails, and she gives a pretty good hand massage. Kim didn't talk much but that's okay with me (I don't talk a lot either), only reason I mention it is in case you're a lady who like to chat, maybe request a different tech. My manicure began poorly with the distracted nail tech cutting off all my nails after I'd just answered that I did not want them cut. Then followed painful cutting into nail beds, cuticles & nails with nippers & excessive sawing with electric drill/file. I did not have tips/fake nails/acrylic - this was to be just a traditional manicure with gel polish. When I expressed discomfort, the lady sighed in frustration, paused a couple seconds, then went back to it. I purposefully tried zoning out after that, just staring out the window or at the dusty & food -covered station next to us that appeared to be being used as a desk. Another red flag: noticing that the light being used to cure the polish was excessivelv burning, to the point I was pulling my hands back out for a bit when she put the lamp on them. My daughter wanted acrylic tips, showed a pic to the assigned nail tech; they discussed the nail shape, length & pretty basic nail art which the young lady assured her was no problem - her requests were then also ignored while the tech complained incessantly about family. Her nail beds & cuticles were also aggressively mangled, excessive acrylic product left on nails, leaving them too "high" & nail polish result not what was requested. There were several instances that we tried to halt or question unsuccessfully. I held up my newly polished fingers to show the nail tech that several of mine had humps/lumps/ mounds at the end at about a 15 degree rise but was seriously told repeatedly that "that's how my nails grow"?! When my daughter tried to stop her polish application that wasn't what was agreed on or discussed, she was told that would require starting over & would be an additional $40 on top of the $110 we weren't aware was being charged. When I was done, I stepped out to my car to take a call, leaving my card with daughter to pay. We were almost home before I looked at the receipt & discovered I'd been charged $160. That was for a basic manicure w/ gel polish & new acrylic nail tips with nail "art". I was not happy but chalked it up to a bad visit & knew we wouldn't be going back. The breaking point & reason for me leaving this negative review (& pursuing the issues with the state health & Cosmetology boards) was when our nails/polish started hurting, like an ache - more so on mine with their odd lumps at the end. We were able to get in quickly with another salon & they began the repair process. My daughter's polish was removed & the excessive thickness filed down - we know now that nail pain was because of the damaging pressure being put on the nail bed, permanently weakening the nail bed if left untended. Since the original nail tech gave daughter pointy/stabby shaped nails vs the almond shape requested, that had to be filed down, resulting in much shorter nails than desired. As my gel polish was being removed, we discovered "something" on a few of the weird lumpy nails: it looked like either acrylic had been applied OR some of my just-cut-off nails had landed there & then been painted over? Still not positive (see pix) but know that too-thick gel polish application + unstable nail lamp can cause burning because of over-curing. That can lead to onycholysis, where the nail bed separates from nail plate. It could have also been friction-burn from the heavy-handed filing/ sawing. Unsure. but when the salon refuses to make amends by issuing a refund (I didn't ask for the additional $100+ I'm out for repairing their massive fails), they'll obviously continue this route which is unsafe, unsanitary & just wrong? Here we are. Inexperienced technician * Painful experience * Gel nails * Dirty salon * Messy results * Unfriendly atmosphere * Rushed service * Inconsistent results

LITTLE ROCK, WE DESERVE BETTER…read more Friday, I had a humiliating and disrespectful experience at LR Nail Bar/Little Rock Nail Bar at the Promenade, and I believe our community should know how I was treated. After receiving my service, I attempted to pay using a $40 Visa gift card and cash for the remaining balance. I clearly explained at the counter that $40 should be charged to the gift card and that I would pay the rest in cash. Instead, the employee attempted to charge the full amount. The transaction showed "declined," although the terminal also requested my signature. I was not allowed to sign. I immediately checked the gift card account on my phone. My balance had gone from $40 to $0, and the transaction history showed LR Nail Bar with the $40 transaction pending. I showed them the proof of payment. Instead of listening, another gentleman repeatedly interrupted me with "No, no" and continued swiping the now-empty gift card several more times. Another employee then became involved and told me, "Some people, not you, come in here and get a service and don't have enough money on their credit card for the service." Why was that even relevant? This wasn't a credit card. It was a prepaid gift card. I wasn't refusing to pay. I was standing there with cash, trying to pay the remaining balance. She then suggested that I pay the entire bill again and that, if they discovered at closing that they had received the $40, they would put it back on my gift card. I refused to pay twice. Eventually, the original employee confirmed that I had told him from the beginning to charge $40 to the gift card and that I would pay the balance in cash. They finally allowed me to do exactly what I had been trying to do all along. I paid the remaining balance. Then, while handing me my change, the man who had repeatedly told me "No, no" angrily said: "LEAVE." When I told him not to speak to me that way, he responded: "DON'T EVER COME BACK." Don't worry. I won't. I'm sharing this for several reasons: 1. Communication matters. There was a significant language barrier. Employees must be able to communicate effectively enough with customers to understand service requests, explain financial transactions and resolve problems. 2. Speaking around customers is disrespectful. Employees repeatedly spoke among themselves in their first language, including while discussing my payment dispute, leaving me unable to understand a conversation about my own money. I respect that people speak different languages, but when the conversation concerns my service or my money, I expect to be included in a language we mutually understand. 3. A misunderstanding never justifies disrespect. I showed proof of the transaction. I explained what happened repeatedly. I had cash in my hand and was trying to pay what I owed. I did not deserve to be interrupted, treated suspiciously, ordered to "leave" or told "don't ever come back." 4. I am calling on Little Rock to demand better. I will no longer patronize LR Nail Bar/Little Rock Nail Bar at the Promenade, and I am asking members of our community who find this treatment unacceptable to join me in choosing other businesses. 5. LITTLE ROCK--I NEED YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS. Please recommend reputable nail salons in Little Rock where customers can expect clear communication in English, professionalism and respectful customer service. Personal recommendations are especially appreciated. Businesses make mistakes. Technology fails. Misunderstandings happen. Disrespect is a choice. Spend your money where you are respected.

I always get gel polish on my toes and nails. I had gel polish on the outside of my toe that I know the lady saw because I saw it. My nails looked just as awful as my feet and a different person did both. Save your self money and time by going somewhere else. The pedicure was awful and half done along with my nails.
