I only took off one star because in New York you always get a shoulder massage as well as the hand/arm massage and I didn't receive one, though that may be a regional thing. If I could rate this salon a 0 I would. I made an appointment for 1:30pm and got there a couple minutes early. I ended up waiting until 1:50pm for her to start on my nails. When she sat down, she had gloves on from her previous client (which was a pedicure) and started touching and filing down my nails! Within 10 minutes my nails were on, but most of my nails are crooked or barely hanging on. As soon as I thought it couldn't get worse she started painting my nails and doing French tips! Each white tip is a different thickness/length. She was too busy rushing through my nails to get to the next client to even care about the look of her work. I got a gel manicure at Elegant Nails recently and I will never go back. Steer clear of this place. It was by far and away the worst manicure I've ever had in my life. Firstly, my nail tech was extremely unprofessional and was constantly on her phone. At one point, she even took a personal call and left the salon, only to return with bags of groceries. Her work was sloppy, rushed and downright unacceptable. It was very apparent that she was putting very little effort into the manicure-- she did not even trim my cuticles or bother to clean up the polish she carelessly applied all over my nail groove. From start to finish, the gel manicure lasted under 15 minutes, and that was after I had to ask her to apply top coat. In addition to the terrible and lazy service, I was mortified by the condition of their nail dryer and other equipment. It was filthy and poorly maintained. I left feeling like I had wasted $30. My friend, however, had Kara who did a great job on her nails. She even trimmed some of the polish that had spilled over into my nail groove after she noticed me looking at it in dismay. If you do decide to try this place, which I would strongly discourage, request Kara as your nail tech. read more

I asked for a fill with gel polish. All of the polish on my nails has chipped and it's definitely not gel. I also had to cut them all short because they were all uneven!!! My 16 year old daughter got hers done same time as I did and all of her nails have come off!!! I called them to tell them about these issues but nobody in that place could understand what I was even saying. I used to go here all the time, and they were the best. I haven't been there for a few years but my son got me a gift card there. I've gone twice. I did French tips. First of all, they don't use the pink acrylic, so they started to turn yellow after a few days. Secondly, less than a week after having them put on, they were lifting everywhere and one fell off. I went back and told them what was happening. First, they told me not to use hand lotion because that was causing them to turn yellow. Then she cut most of them off and filled them, and still charged me for that, even though it had only been a week. So after that, again less than a week after they fixed them, one fell off and the rest were lifting again. It hasn't been two weeks since I had them fixed and I have one nail left on. But two of them, and I think one is the owner; are really grouchy. They act angry and inconvenienced by your presence. One lady scowls and slams things around. Intimidating. I tried to call for almost two days for appointment but they won't answer the phone. Then they are mad cause you didn't have an appointment. My first experience was great. The guy who works here did my nails (acrylic with gel) and I loved them. I came again and got an older woman. She kept forgetting to turn on the light to dry my nails and when I got in my car right after I bumped my thumb against something and the paint came right off! By that night the paint was almost completely off one thumb and one pointer finger and I had large scrapes on three of my other nails. NOT happy. I went back and they fixed my nails but refused to give me any of my money back. They had to file my nails down again and I lost two weeks from my set. I have gone here periodically since Fall of 2019. Each time I have come, they have done a really nice job with my nails. From acrylics to pedicures, they never disappoint. During COVID, they've increased their sanitizing procedures and made me feel like I was in a safe and extremely clean environment. I love this salon! read more

Unfortunately my experience at Elegant Nails was subpar to say the least. From the moment we entered the building for our appointment the environment was cold and not friendly. There were long wait times and the appointment was overall rushed. To top off a not so great experience the tech had every acrylic nail on my finger a different length (very short- after asking for long nails) and crooked. When I told her I wasn't very happy with the length she rudely ripped them all off and told me to wait in the corner until someone else could do my nails. As it sounds and as you can imagine, this was quite painful. Other staff seemed friendly but unfortunately at the risk of having this tech I would never ever recommend this salon to anyone. read more

Drove an hour here when I couldn't get an appointment in Belfast. Cash only so come prepared. I live outside of DC and have plenty of options- had to make the drive here to get my nails done. Sam was great. He put the acrylics on with gel polish for $40 which was affordable. His service was fast and efficient. The place is mega clean and the service is very friendly. Not sure what some of the other reviewers were talking about. There is an ATM in the same plaza for you to grab cash if needed like I did. I will return when I'm in town. When I called them what time I wanted I was told there was no need to make an appointment because it won't be busy at that time. Well, when my mother and I arrived there was a thirty minute wait. When I explained what had happened the woman basically told us that we were lying about the phone call and that we should've called to make an appointment. Really?! I tried but I wasn't given the option. The woman at the counter rolled her eye multiple times at my mother and I. At that point I realized the business manners were just not there. I left my polish on the counter and left. I have never been treated so poorly at a place of business. I'm super disappointed with my experience here today. I always get my nails done here when I'm in Maine visiting my mom because my friends had recommended it and I've gotten good service. Today was a nightmare. I went in to get a full set done. I didn't have an appointment and I only waited 15 minutes which was fine. I showed the technician exactly how I wanted my nails done (stiletto/pointy style) before he even started. He commented on how ugly he thought it was but said he could do it. Everything was fine until he got to shaping my nails. He tried the first one and I told him that wasn't the way I like it. He did it some more and I told him politely that it was still wrong. He told me he would not do it the way I wanted and that he'd rather take off the whole set he'd just put on than do it. I told him to just finish what he was doing and I'd fix it when I got home. I was extremely upset and just wanted to get out of there at this point. The rest of the time he was doing my nails he was extremely rough and rude. When I got up to wash the cuticle oil off my hands he left the room and made someone else paint my nails. I had told her I wanted a french manicure but she rushing so bad I told her not to bother and just paint them all one color. I couldn't believe how poorly I was treated here. I am not a picky customer and this was the first time I've ever had to go home and fix a brand new set of nails myself. This was an embarrassing and horrible experience. Went with my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter, for her 8th birthday. I had a mani, daughter-in-law had a pedi, birthday girl had mani-pedi. They were very nice and did an excellent job.
