Friendly service and accepted my walk in without too much hassle! Also was very patient with me picking out my color. It was nice of the lady to ask if I would want to pay before getting my manicure, so it wouldn't smudge. I appreciated the gesture and did that. I also took advantage of the 10% discount promotion for leaving them a Yelp review. I originally left them a 4-star review but am revising it because unfortunately the quality of the service wasn't very good after I paid...they didn't do a good job taking off my gel nail and was very rough with filing my nails down. Because I just did a basic manicure after, they also didn't do a good job with putting down the primer (I saw some spot wasn't filled in at all and had to ask the lady to reapply). For the top coats, they also did them very poorly and didn't completely fill in my nails...you could also see the bumps on my nails afterwards from the not-so-great gel take-off job...I think one could probably do a similar job at home on their own. I think if you're just looking for some no-frills, basic manicure and you don't care much about the details, this place would be good (since the price mirrors the quality). Came on a whim and had a wonderful experience here on a Friday afternoon with Tina. I was looking for a place last minute to get my nails done for the weekend. Found them on Yelp and it was easy to make an appointment online - did not pick a specific person; just first available. They confirmed it the next morning (day of when I wanted to get my nails done). When I walked in, there were 2 other customers so it wasn't busy. I was taken care of immediately even though I was early. I added the callus remover service on the spot. Everything went smoothly and got what I came for. The inside was bright, well lit. There were multiple chairs for manicures and pedicures. With 4 people working, they were pretty efficient. Their pedicure chairs had a massager on them, which was an added plus to the experience. The price point for this store is fair and you get a good discount when you pay in cash. Rose took care of me and she was so nice and pleasant to talk to. They're efficient, upfront, and they would make sure that you're satisfied with the work they've done. I would come back and make sure to get additional service. Service here truly depends on who you get. I've had a few wonderful nail techs, and at times you'll get the ones who want to over charge you. I brought my kiddo in with me for a clear manicure, they quoted me $25. As the menu is being shown above their heads on a tv screen, it clearly lists children under 13 can get a manicure for $15. I pointed it out, two of them spoke among themselves and the nail tech working on my daughter told me the price has gone up since. I told her that was quite an increase for something I can just do at home, but I really wanted for her to have this experience with me. My last fill was $45 and now they wanted to charge me $50. Extra $5 for a broken nail- I am sorry, what? I should also note that in the many years I've gotten my nails done it is extremely rare for me to break a nail. My last fill was at this location about 18 days prior. I asked why they couldn't just honor their price listed on their menu, since literally all they're doing is a clear manicure. My nail tech was clearly pissed off but said they would only charge me $15 as listed but the vibe was very unpleasant. I will not be returning and from now on I'll be doing my own nails. It isn't worth feeling like a burden for a service they provide. read more

What a gem! I found this place after trying another salon locally. The other salon wasn't great, so I went searching and found this one. I held my breath hoping this place is better, and I wasn't disappointed! Such a great salon with excellent service. Everyone I have seen here has done great work. I especially love the pedicures, and recently tried French tips on my toes. They shape the tips soooo well, even ask me if I liked the lines or want them shaped differently. I'm super impressed. Worst experience. I only asked for a basic cuticle removal, but she put my hands in cold water. Is she even trained properly? She also asked if I was Chinese, and when I told her that I'm Korean, she said, "Chinese and Koreans look the same." That was extremely rude and uneducated. She even kept asking, "Are you speaking Vietnamese?" -- completely inappropriate. Please educate your staff on basic professionalism and cultural sensitivity. Came in for my 2:45 appointment. The lady doing my nails was talking on her phone for half the service with her airpod. I guess it died because all of a sudden I could hear the other person on the line through her speaker. During the cleaning, she was a little aggressive when pushing the cuticle back so much that I winced. She looked at me like she was surprised. It was a little weird that she did all the white tips on one hand before asking me if it was okay. I feel like maybe ask after one finger so that it can be made thinner or thicker without having to redo the entire hand. I showed her the white nail polish all over my hands and asked her to remove it, but she only filed off one finger. I ended up leaving with a lot of white on my fingers. The nail's themselves came out pretty nicely. The theme song playing on their tv is a little annoying after awhile. Not sure if I would come back. read more

There is silent racial discrimination and bullying at this salon. I faced this treatment from the time I walked in to when I got out. My mom and I were very disappointed with the way we were being treated. The minute we walked into our salon, we asked for two pedicures and they kept defaulting to one pedicure only. When I showed them two fingers, they fell silent. The nail tech doing my mom's pedicure, Lucy, was quite rude. After my pedicure, I asked her how much they charge for gel polish on hands, no manicure. She started lying about pricing. How I found out? A Caucasian lady sitting next to my mom asked the EXACT same question. Lucy's attitude suddenly changed and gave the right answers. I just went ahead with the gel manicure, where the other nail tech Sophia showed me additional hatred and attitude. She kept pushing her own designs on me and when I said what I wanted for my nails, this seemed to enrage her all the more. She filed my nails well, but she went ahead with the nail drill and drilled my nails to the point of extreme scratches and damage. When I politely told her that my nails were smooth before, I only got one response: "do you want nail polish or not?!!!" I asked her if she could make them smoother but then she fell silent. When I was done with my manicure, I was waiting patiently for my mom to finish. Out of no where, Lucy grabbed my shoulders from behind and forced me to move without prior warning. I was not doing anything wrong nor was I blocking anyone. She could have said excuse me. Instead, she crossed personal boundaries and made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I cannot believe that their hatred, prejudice and envy escalated to physical assault. It seems that when they realized I'm not passive and will speak up, they defaulted to physical aggression to assert control of the situation. Finally, the nail tech charged my mom's pedicure as a gel pedicure when she received a pedicure with normal nail polish. She asked for a tip on top of that. Ever since we started coming to this salon and Pretty Nails closed down, it's been nothing but racism, manipulation, and outright hatred. The second time we came to this salon another man snapped at my mom and said "Put your foot down and let me polish!" Thankfully the nail tech doing my pedicure was nice and gentle, and I sincerely hope the other nail techs learn something from him. From the first time I came here, nor me nor my mom were ever assisted me with putting my flip flops on after the pedicure was done. Today, I saw them assisting other people. I felt like I was back in high school again. A salon is a place to feel cared for and pampered. My mom is also half blind and there was no effort to accommodate her, instead further bullying her for "mistakes" she was making. Finally, the gel polish started chipping and coming off after a week. It seems they didn't bother giving me good service and were only bullying me in return. read more

After being a patron of Elegant Nail Spa in downtown Sunnyvale for years, we were surprised to hear Helen was no longer there. We learned that Helen and Nina are now at Elegant Nails 3, just a few minutes away on El Camino. There is a lot of parking (much different from downtown) and easy to find, tucked away in the plaza next to the Hot Breads shop. Walking inside, it was great to see familiar faces with Helen and Nina. My girlfriend has been a regular of Helen's and I won't get my pedicure done by anyone other than Nina. Both do such a good job, always making you feel welcome, and providing great service. We made an appointment the day before and came in with no wait. We both got the wax pedicures and she had her gel nails removed. So relaxing! The shop has new massage chairs, a bright and clean look, and has a 20% off grand opening special during the month of October. We'll be back again soon! This shop is a gem. read more

Walked in today to get a classic pedicure with white polish. Expecting to pay around $30 max $40. I never like the leg massage or lotions so I don't bother for the more fancy stuff. I had been here maybe once or twice before and was pleased. But today, I realized too late that the technician started doing gel polish and then proceeded to do hot rocks and parrafin wax. I didn't speak up or say anything )which is my fault) but I ended up with a higher bill than anticipated, as I was given services that I hadn't asked for. Lesson learned and won't be back. read more
