Galina is THE BEST tailor in Southern California! When I lived in Los Angeles she was my go-to. Since moving away 4 years ago, I have not been able to find anyone who comes close to her excellence and attention to detail. I am planning a trip to Los Angeles, and will be bringing along a bag full of garments to be tailored. Thank you Galina + Team read more

I trust Galina with all of my tailoring needs! From alterations to clothing repairs, her craftsmanship is truly incredible. She's kind, professional, and runs a fantastic woman-owned business. If you care about excellent tailoring and reliable service, I highly recommend her--I'll definitely keep coming back! read more

I only go to Galina for all of my tailoring needs! She has helped me look my best for several weddings, and she tailored several pairs of pants after I lost weight. Everything looks and fits great! She also is willing to give suggestions if you ask (I really value her opinion), and she's honest about when something just won't work. Highly recommend her! read more

I had the displeasure of meeting the tailor with the brown hair and glasses, I didn't get her name. She made several horrible comments about my choice of wedding dress, openly busted out laughing, and made rude comments about my body. She called my dress "ridiculous" and kept shaking her head & asking questions about why I wanted to wear it. Then she had the audacity to ask me to bring it in after the wedding so she can show someone else - as if it was some big joke. I would never come back unless she is removed. So unprofessional. The other woman (who I believe is the owner) is wonderful. read more

Elegant Mode Tailoring - Here's the dress that she mocked for 20 minutes - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Incredible craft and when I stressed a short turnaround, she made it happen. Highly recommend if what you care about is excellent tailoring.

I brought a bunch of bikinis in to tailor the bottoms and they were done wonderful! I will definitely be back with all my other needs! Thank you! read more

I found Elegant Mode through some Next Door recommendations and am SO HAPPY. I got the dress at a steep discount on PoshMark but it obviously needed a lot of alterations. She was super friendly, very quick, and very attentive. I had the dress taken in on the sides, shortened the straps, lowered the back, and hemmed the dress. The hemming was an entire ordeal since the dress was lace all around. I wanted a simple bustle and so we hemmed the inner layer to not need to be bustled and had a single cute button bustle for the lace layer. I'm so happy and will be back!! Tip: there are a few parking spots in the back of the store! read more

Galina and Zoya are AMAZING! I can't recommend Elegant Mode enough for your tailoring needs. I took in bridesmaid dress samples I had ordered to Galina for her input on which size I should purchase since I am a pear-shape body type, and was unsure if I should order based off my skirt size, or bodice size. She was very knowledgeable and gave me great advice on which size to order, and how we can go about alterations to fit my body better. Both of these ladies did such an amazing job reconstructing my dress to fit a better a-line shape since bridesmaid dresses are typically made for very tall proportions, and I am petite and curvy. I feel so beautiful and confident in my dress now, these ladies went above and beyond to make sure the fit was absolutely perfect. I can't recommend Elegant Mode enough, and I'm definitely going to go back and take in other clothes I have for alterations. Prices are very reasonable as well! read more

Extremely rude. One of the employees here was so cruel about my clothes and made nasty comments about my body. I know seamstresses are known for being rude, but this was next level. Absolutely abhorrent. Would NEVER come back. read more

Amazing tailor, she was able to get my dress tailored before a wedding in 3 days and it looked amazing! Really great pricing too

Helpful, kind, quality work, woman-owned business, efficient. I will always bring my clothing here.

Galina transformed a size 13 dress to a size 0. It fit like a glove! My dress required a lot of work and she was very meticulous and thoughtful in the way she handled it. She was gracious! read more

Hurray for Galina!! She tailored my wedding dress to a tee. She removed a train, took it in and created a sweetheart neckline. She is an excellent seamstress. I gave one less star only because the price I was quoted went up a few days before the wedding day. I blame myself too because I didnt realize some of the work would generate extra charges. Either way, we worked it out and I would still highly recommend this shop. Brides should run to Galina. read more

Cannot say enough good things about Galina. She has changed my relationship to clothes!!! She is so so good at what she does.

Galina is truly a gift. She's altered a few items for me -- including two gowns and a dress for a trip to Paris (see the photo!), and the pricing is always reasonable. But most importantly, her work is detailed and thorough. I highly recommend her and Elegant Mode. She will work with your schedule and often gets things done ahead of time. read more

Wow Galina is such a sweetheart and incredible tailor! I have gone to her time and time again and each time it's absolutely perfect! She openly gives her opinion on alterations if she feels you are not making a good choice but she won't hold it against you if you don't take her opinion. You park on the street on Fairfax and her shop is in the corner. I literally drive 1 hour and 10 minutes to go her...she is that good... read more

Galina is amazing. She transformed a size 10 very complicated lace dress into a size 2 for me. Her work is very good. However, couple notes for reference: 1. L.A traffic is bad, appointment on Saturday is better than weekday. 2. Make sure you ask for the pricing along the way. I am not a professional tailor, I wasn't aware of the cost for additional hours. Galina worked with me at the end, but I was surprised about the cost. read more

I got my wedding dress altered by Galina in July. My wedding was just 2 1/2 weeks away and I couldn't find someone with a reasonable price that would do it in time, but then I found Galina and she was like my fairy godmother. She turned my dress that was too long and too big into a perfectly fitted wedding gown just in the nick of time (and some to spare). She gave me suggestions on bustles and put in a button, all for an extremely reasonable price. She's super professional and has a great eye, at the same time warm and friendly. Galina is seriously the greatest! read more

Galina is a miracle worker and a life saver! When I purchased my wedding gown from Lovely Bride, I had no idea how difficult it would be to tailor: there are no seams in the delicate french lace, so the entire dress needed to be taken apart in order to alter it. I interviewed two other alterations specialists before Galina (big name bridal spots), and both were kind of divas with super high prices. Galina is incredibly talented, yet very modest. She is all business, and will be completely honest and fair with you in terms of the price and the timeline (no smoke blowing here!) She tailored the dress TO PERFECTION! Whereas other people I interviewed allotted for "two sessions" of alterations in their price, I visited Galina almost weekly to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Yet not only did she make the dress look like it was built for my body, Galina literally BUILT ME A NEW BODY! The way she altered the dress strategically gave me a smaller waist, better curves, and a cuter butt! On my wedding day, I was so proud of how I looked in my dress, and I owe it all to her. Please do yourself a favor and take your beloved, precious dress to Galina! xo read more

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Galina. Brought in a vintage wedding dress that clearly had NOT been made for me with only a little more than a month left before the big day ... I was super nervous about handing it over to anyone, but I also knew that I needed some serious alterations. Galina was wonderful - knew exactly what to do to make the dress look perfect, and also knew how to do it for a reasonable price. The dress looked even better than I'd imagined when she was done with it. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding in a few months, and I think I'm going to take my bridesmaid dress to her, too, even though I live downtown - after my wonderful wedding dress experience, it seems silly to go to anyone else! read more

She is amazing and affordable. My daughter brought her wedding dress. She is just a pro- the tailoring was perfect and the price was great for the amount of work she had to do ( wedding dresses have so many layers) . We enjoyed our conversations with her. She has no website and her phone manner isn't always the best but make an appt and go see her. She is the best! read more

Galina is an excellent tailor and so pleasant to work with! I had some alteration done to my wedding dress which needed taking in, had a good amount of beading that was incorporated into a strap that I wanted removed, and a cascade chiffon skirt which needed bustling added. She did a beautiful job and I loved the styling she suggested! My family and bridesmaids are in another state so I really appreciated her input and experience when it came to the alterations. I highly recommend Galina. read more

I highly recommend this place for all your alteration needs. She is amazing and so helpful. She does excellent alteration work and provides suggestions for undergarments, etc. My clothing was ready when promised and I drove to the city just to have her alter my dresses. The best! read more

Galina is amazing and very reasonably priced. I got a bridesmaids dress hemmed and pulled in. The fit was perfect and the timeline was great. She told me the price up front and when I could expect the dress. I asked her to take a look at an ancient coat i was wearing regarding the lining and she gave me the honest opinion and pricing. Due to the severe damage, it had to be completely replaced and would cost more money than it was probably worth. "No one will see it, right?" I agreed, we laughed. Highly recommended. read more

I have mixed feelings for Elegant Mode. I brought my wedding dress here to be altered over three months before my wedding. I understood it wasn't an easy dress to alter but Galina assured me she could do it although she couldn't give me a price. A stain appeared on the dress at my second fitting and she pointed it out, stating it was there when I brought it in. I'm positive it wasn't but there was nothing I could do so I said nothing. The second to last fitting she had made the dress to tight and told me she would fix it. However when I went to pick up the dress it was still too tight. The day I was to pick up the dress she was not ready as she had forgotten I was coming that day. She told me the dress wasn't finished and I would have to come back the next day! I was rather surprised that even with three months time the dress was still being altered the day before I was to pick it up. Additionally, she called me that evening to ask if my dress had buttons! In the end the dress was gorgeous and fit well. Additionally the price seemed reasonable, $400. However, the day of my wedding, as I was being zipped up the zipper broke! not just got stuck but literally broke, unzippable broke! So I had to be sewn into my dress. Later in the evening the boning she put in my dress came out and poked me at the top and bottom leaving me with scars all over my hip! Due to this experience I'm not sure that I would recommend Elegant Mode Tailoring. They are very nice and do good work, but they seem to leave things to the last minute and end up cutting corners (like my zipper!) read more

This review in no way applies to Galina - she is excellent, and if you need something tailored definitely go see her. HOWEVER, whatever you do, DO NOT give them your shoes to fix. I left seven pairs of shoes with them for just heel and toe reinforcements ONLY and they not only did a shoddy job with those, they "polished", read painted over, each one of them without asking me. A purple pair of shoes was turned dirty brown, a gold shimmery heel was painted tan, black patent leather was ruined, a two-toned platform was dyed mahogany, etc. When I started to cry in the shop (note, I never yelled), the woman in charge of the shoes, Zoe, started yelling AT ME, like it was my fault they messed them up. When I asked for my money back, she slapped it in my hand and screamed even more. I wasn't even asking for all of it back, because I recognized they did put labor into it, but she gave it all back to me and had the audacity to keep screaming at me, even as I walked out. Galina, to her credit, mostly stayed out of it. Pasquale Shoe Repair was fortunately able to undo most of the damage, but to the tune of $200. All in all, it makes me really sad that this happened, because Galina is truly excellent, and I'm not comfortable going back there at all anymore. read more

I keep hearing how wonderful Galina is but the first time I called her she told me to call back when it was only 2 months until my wedding. The second time I called closer to my wedding date and she didn't even call me back. When I finally did get her on the phone she told me she was going on vacation and couldn't take any more clients. So when was I supposed to call and actually get an appointment? Getting the feeling Galina isn't very reliable unless you can get her on the phone. read more

I made an appointment here for last weekend for a wedding dress fitting. However, when I got there with my dress in hand, there was a handwritten sign on the door that said "closed until Monday". I had made an appt weeks in advance for a specific time, but no one bothered to call and let me know that they had closed unexpectedly. I left Galina a message about what happened and she called back and said she didn't have my phone number, but I think a well-run business would have asked for a customer's phone number before booking an appt. Needless to say, I'll be going with another tailor. read more

I've been bringing my clothing here for alterations for about a year now, and I absolutely love Galina -- her energy, conversation, vibe, craftsWOMANship... Of course there are other less expensive places you can go, but I've had that awful experience of having things I've loved ruined elsewhere, and I know my garments will come out looking and fitting awesomely in her hands. I've had everything from jeans hemmed (original hem reattached), to waistlines of dresses and pants taken in, to leather jackets completely reworked; and I won't take my clothing anywhere else. And she's also extremely reliable, yet another plus. I'm glad I found her! read more

This place really saved me. A week before the wedding I figured out that I needed to shorten the straps on my dress. I called elegant mode in a panic and she said to bring it in. I took my extra long wedding dress to several tailors and couldn't find anyone who made me feel confident that they could pull off tailoring my dress (it was too long with tons of layer and tool). Plus, the other tailors prices were astronomical for my budget. Then, my cousin who also used Galina at Elegant Mode, recommended them to me. Thank God she did!! Galina was absolutely amazing! She's so talented, hard working, affordable and sweet! I ended up feeling amazing in my dress and receiving tons of compliments all thanks to her! I highly recommend her! read more

Galina is absolutely wonderful! I had been looking for weeks for a seamstress and finally ran into her through the help of Yelp. Well make no mistake Yelpers, this woman IS FIVE STARS. I called ahead of time, considering I had no idea how busy a seamstress can be. She was pleasant and arranged a convenient appointment time. My maid of honor dress was way to long and needs some adjustments. Galina took her time, had me try the dress on while she did some measuring and adjusting. She promised my dress in 10days........in 10days, it was perfect. Thank you Galina. You made a stressful situation just melt and disappear. Highly recommended! read more

Literally walked in this morning to get an estimate on a dress hem... When quoted $80 for the hem I was a little surprised, but willing to pay since it's a bit of an emergency, and it's two layers that needed to be shortened. When I took the dress back from the woman I was about to go try it on with my high heels so she could mark it, when she all of a sudden said, "fine do it yourself then!" I was like....wait, what just happened. She went back behind to her sewing machine and left me in the lobby...I was really confused. I was willing to pay, but not after that kind of customer service. Sometimes small business wonder why consumers would rather spend their money at bigger corporations....well here you have it BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more
