We were referred to Bobby Mohseni, owner of Elegant Improvement Inc., by our real estate agent. We live in Laguna Woods, and Bobby also lives here, and his office/showroom is just a few miles away in Irvine. We planned to remodel the kitchen, refresh the interior with new cabinets, countertops and appliances; remove a sliding glass door and replace it with a curved French casement window, and add a peninsula to extend the workspace. My husband is a licensed general contractor who built our previous homes, but is retired now. He always paid attention to detail and did quality work, and we were looking for the same kind of contractor. We had received a couple of other quotes before Bobby's, but one was exhorbitantly high, and the other was incomplete. We told Bobby we were looking for value and quality, and his quote seemed fair. We also liked the fact that he does projects in Laguna Woods, and is familiar with the HOA Mutual Consent process, and with City permitting. Elegant Improvement turned out to be a great choice! Bobby's team was excellent, experienced (especially the foreman Mike), paid attention to details, were organized and clean, and went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. If we had a question or special request, or needed an adjustment, they would take care of it quickly. The answer was always "yes". I just completed a total home remodel with Elegant Home Improvement. I have enjoyed working with Bobby, his son John, and their crew, every member of which is extremely nice and exceedingly respectful. Nine months ago, I turned over to Bobby a nasty lump of coal of a house I had just bought, and he gave me back a diamond. We bumped out a part of the back wall of the house to expand the dining area, and the addition looks like it's always been a part of the house. Bobby and his team listened to what I wanted and then made it happen--including a really nice board and batten wainscot treatment of the great room and hallway, a board and batten feature wall in the principal bedroom, and a beadboard wainscot in an office. I own a unit in Laguna Woods. I was doing a bathroom remodel to remove an existing tub to replace with walk in shower to accommodate my 88 year old mother who lives in the unit. I received a list of contractors from Laguna Woods permit department. I contacted Bobby at Elegant Home Improvement. He responded immediately and was available to give an estimate the following day. I did contact other contractors on the list, but received no response. Bobby and I discussed the remodel and he explained the Laguna Woods HOA and City permit process, which is lengthy. We then agreed to the terms and entered into a contact. Once he began this project he was responsive to any questions I posed. He is a general contractor, but has all of his own crew and does not sub contract any work (except hot mop), making him responsible for scheduling his own crew. His crew always showed up on time, were courteous and did their job. Although any remodel can be stressful, Bobby and his crew were pleasant to work with. I had Elegant Improvement, Inc in Irvine do a total bathroom remodel. When they took out the toilet bowel they missed the tarp & stained my beautiful new carpet. They used the same brush on this big greasy stain on several other smaller spots they made-making the smaller spots much worse. They accepted responsibility & paid to have the carpet professionally cleaned but within a few weeks the spot's returned. The carpet had to be replaced. They totally ignored my phone calls & text messages. I was very disappointed that I had to pay to replace the carpet when it was at no fault of my own. Be very careful!! read more

I had my condo remodeled by Bobby and his team. His team did it quickly and that was a plus, however the results had many flaws. He also sold me a used kitchen sink and the bathroom sink drain was not properly installed. There are so many flaws, six months later and I'm still finding things that are not properly finished. The shower door has a flaw with the rubber base, it's ripped, he came to see it, but never followed through. He will not address it, or return my calls. If you use this company, have them bid for it, and watch everything they do with a fine tooth comb, and don't give them the benefit of the doubt, because it's likely unfinished, and you'll be disappointed. As far as the materials are concerned, make sure you know what you want use, I thought I was getting marble or Travertine. Instead I found out afterwards I got porcelain. I never even heard of porcelain before, I thought porcelain was what china was made of. It could have been a disaster, it wasn't, and I eventually calmed down. Afterwards it all just so material and I gave in to letting it go, we learn the hard way sometimes. I'm going to have my bedroom remodeled, and I'll do it with a new and more satisfied outcome. Really bad communication. Wasted my time. - I need new granite kitchen countertops. I visited this showroom after reading the great reviews on yelp. It started out great. Bobby, the owner, said he could come out and measure the next day. He came out at promised exactly as promised. He said he would have the estimate ready in a day. Never heard from him again. He didnt email me or call me with the estimate as promised so I emailed him as a reminder. Still nothing. Finally, I called him a week later and he acted as if he didnt even remember me or coming out to measure. He said he would call back after researching my file. He did call back with a standard full retail price. I said great, please email me the bid. Still nothing. How can I do business with someone who can't follow through with such a simple task? It's amazing how our place has completely transformed! Our small condo actually looks a lot bigger and brand new! I don't know why we didn't do this earlier! Bobby (the owner) spent a good amount of time taking measurements of our unit, drawing out the floorplan, and gave us a quote right there on the spot. We had estimates from different flooring companies, and none were as meticulous, professional and friendly! The installers were just as friendly and professional. The three hardworking men were extremely careful and courtesous when handling our belongings/furniture. They moved/disassemble/reassembled all of the furniture, and they even remembered exactly where everything went (even the clothing in my closet!) This is the amazing place that we have gotten really great prices on moulding (crown & base) from. They also have carpet there & I think like marble countertops & stuff. It's really great quality, the people are REALLY nice, helpful & knowledgeable. They also are open on the weekends despite posted hrs. You just have to call & see when they will be in. If you care about your home, do not work with these people. I have had so many issues and problems with their work. They had left some work unfinished, and after they collected the money, I had to call them so many times to get them come in to finish the job. I finally had to threaten them with leaving a bad review. The toilet started leaking a few days after they worked on it, the kitchen sink started leaving as well. I let go of so many poor work done, just because I was exhausted with it. Make a long story short, a year later, the floor planks that they installed is coming loose. I called them, and they claimed that it must be the manufacturing problem. I asked to give me the name, and they would not answer any of my phone calls. Can you imagine that your new floors are coming off the seams and they are not taking any responsibility for it. They take the money and won't do an honest job. BEWARE!!!!!! read more

The owner never takes responsibility for mistakes and to this day has not corrected the many mistakes from my remodel such as flooring with sharp spots from debris under the flooring (so they clearly didn't clean the slab prior to installing the planks!), conveniently leaving my entry out of the job so I'm stuck with the original flooring in the entry, sloppy baseboard installation, and recessed lighting with dimmers that barely dim. PLEASE do yourself a favor and find another contractor. I wish I'd listened to previous posts warning to not use Elegant Improvements. There's nothing elegant about this company. read more

I found Bobby here on Yelp and visited his showroom in early August to see what types of floors he had to offer. He had several types of engineered hardwood floors on special and the prices were pretty good for what I could tell. I had Bobby come out and do an estimate for installing the new floor throughout our downstairs. Bobby was able to schedule a time to visit our home for the estimate a couple days later. After getting the estimate, which was reasonably priced compared to other quotes, we finalized our decision on the wood and then scheduled the install. Bobby was very flexible with the install date. The installers were on time and friendly and the install went mostly well, except we had requested white risers for our stairs and they had installed wood risers. This request was noted on our formal quote, but the installers were not informed of it and had to order the white paneling to finish the stairs. This was remedied without issue, but did add some time to the install. After the install was completed, we loved our beautiful new floors and everything seemed fine. After a few days though, the floor in the kitchen was not settling well and continued popping and making significant noise whenever it was walked over. Everywhere else in the house was not making any noise. This had become a bit annoying so I contacted Bobby about the issue. Bobby was very receptive and said he would come out and take a look. He told me he would call me back and schedule a time to visit, but the call never came. I called him the next day and finally got him to agree to come out that Saturday. Saturday came and went, and Bobby never arrived and he never called. About a week later, I again called Bobby and got the same type of response: very friendly on the phone, but never called back and never agreed to a day or time to come out. I have attempted to contact Bobby regarding our floor issue several times and each time he never got back to me, or he agreed to come out but never showed up. I think it is amusing that he was so quick to come out and give an estimate, and do the install, but now that he has my money, I can't get him to even call me back. Overall, I am very disappointed with Bobby. The issue is probably a simple fix, yet he will not come out and even take a look. If he had, I probably would have used him again for future projects. Given my experience with them after the install, I would definitely not recommend this company for any home improvement projects. I understand sometimes things go wrong, but the company should make it right after the fact. I researched the issue that I'm having with my floor and it is likely caused by improper leveling of the sub-floor before installing the floating hardwood. The kitchen previously had glued-down hardwood, but the rest of the house was carpet. The glued-down floor probably was not removed properly or completely, resulting in the clicking noise and popping we have when walking over it. As a word of warning, make sure your installer does a thorough job of removing glued-down floors before installing floating floors over them. read more

We had our engineered hardwood floors done by Elegant Improvement a year and a half ago. We read the initial reviews before visiting Bobby and the studio. Reading through the reviews again, it looks like our experience is almost identical to Mike P's. In the beginning everything looked fine and beautiful. However, almost immediately after the install we noticed several areas of the flooring where the beams popped up or squeaked. We called Bobby, and the guys had to come again to rip up the floors in those areas (only) and "glue" them down. It was another week of extremely dusty and messy work. Plus, since they only glued down those specific spots, there is a significant difference in feel and look walking over them. Fast forward the year, several more large spots of the floor boards have emerged. There are boards popping up/down, loud squeaking,etc. that have been impossible to ignore. When we called Bobby again, over the phone, he promised to come over or have his guys come by. It has been over a month now and no follow through. When we had a flooring professional over recently for an evaluation we were told that the initial install was botched. Meaning, the guys did not properly level the sub-floor before install. They were lazy with the demo of the original tile flooring. What a shame. If they had just done it right the first time, we would not be looking now to have to repair the damage with a credible company. Also, we think it's pretty shady for Bobby to say he will come by and see what can be done but outright lie and not come or call to follow through. That there, proves that he/they are not a good/credible/professional business. read more

I have the wood floor and a glass shower redone. Multiple estimate and low ball people is not my style. The one with character & qualifications is one for the job. The first xxFlooring store in Irvine said they're busy but can have me on the list. Second call to a store with an answering machine will call you back type. Major stores in Irvine and not contractors here. Third call I made was to Bobby and he said: 'Yes, I can start tomorrow'. 6:30 PM sharp, he pulled up the driveway, with samples and get to work. We chat a bit about the project and I knew then I've found my man. Bobby's always there for you, before, during and long after the project completed. Never give you the voice mail and nowhere to be found stuff. He 's not afraid of question and will answer anything you have in mind. He has all the attributes of a remodeling contractor. I've had two floors installed by Elegant home improvement. The first one went well, but the second one was a disaster. On the second one they installed a laminate floor after a water pipe burst. They unfortunately didn't come out with the correct trim for the quarter round, etc... They let us know they would find a better match and would come back. The owner asked for full payment, and that was my biggest mistake. I should have held back a good amount until they finished the job. We asked at least 8 times over 5 months, to get the job finished and it never happened. They had a lot of promises, but no execution. We finally hired someone else to finish the job. read more

We asked for hardwood floors, and when Bobby came to provide the estimate, I asked him about our outdated staircase. He gave us a great idea that I wouldn't have thought of, and it turned out better than I expected. Our floors and staircase look great.
