We were there a few weeks ago hoping to go to pool early. When we got there the pool was closed for maintenance. I was definitely upset about it but it happens. Although, about 10 minutes after we got to our room, Richie called personally to let us know the pool was reopening because he realized how sad I was about it being closed. All I can say is he absolutely made my day brighter!!! Thank you!! Everyone at the front desk has always been more than kind!! In the sports bar Rosemary and Zachary are always wonderful!! They come by to say hello even if we aren't at their table. And Stephanie seems to always remember us and even knows what tables we enjoy. Although, again; everyone is always very kind. At the pool, Liz and Rachel are who we most often encounter and they are always so sweet. As are the others that work there. All I can really say is the main reason we come back as often as we can is because of the people that work there. You have an amazing staff and I am always grateful for all of them.

I don't understand why this casino resort only has 2.5 stars…read more I stayed here for a weekend with my family for my man's 32nd birthday, and overall it was a good experience. The biggest downside was that it's not kid-friendly at all. I brought my daughter's swim gear thinking we'd hang out at the pool while the rest of my family went to the casino, but the pool is 21+, so that wasn't an option. The only truly kid-friendly spot was the sports bar to eat. I ended up having to get creative and let her play in the shower with her toys and bubbles. Aside from that, the staff was great. very helpful with bringing up our bags and accommodating requests like extra water and pillows. The rooms were nice and comfortable as well. I would definitely come back, but without kids next time so I can actually enjoy the pool (which looked amazing and even had a bar). One thing I did notice was the amount of security in the casino at night, it felt like there was someone at every corner. They also stop serving alcohol at 12am so that was super lame to me because once I was able to put my kids down and come play I only had time for one drink so maybe that's why they don't have a lot of stars

The hotel was pretty clean and the room offered a microwave and fridge. The bathroom was also spacious. There was a gym upstairs and we used it a few times. There were a handful of treadmills and weights. Pretty standard gym amenities. The gym was really clean and they even had fruit and water available in there! If I'm ever in the area again, I would stay again.

One was inside, near the bed next to the balcony door, and the other was outside on the balcony, next to a small pile of cigarette butts. The sofa had a large dark stain with what looked like chocolate shavings. In the bathroom, fresh towels were placed on top of an exposed dirty pipe in one of the cubbies under the sink vanity. I'm curious to know why there are any exposed pipes in the first place. I'm sure having exposed pipes violates multiple city and health codes. One unique thing I noticed at this Marriott hotel was that the room had Febreze Car Clip Air Fresheners attached to the AC vents. I've never seen this at any other hotel. I'm not sure if this is standard practice at this hotel or if it was added to this particular room because the previous guest smoked in it. I emailed the hotel general manager, never received a reply or courtesy call. This is not what we expected from a reputable brand like Marriott.

From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, we were genuinely impressed. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming without ever feeling overbearing. Every member of the staff made us feel like guests in their home rather than customers in a restaurant. The food was just as memorable. I ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly to my requested temperature, and I really appreciated that they were happy to substitute the vegetables on the plate to fit my preferences. We started with Nonna's meatballs, served with fresh bread, and they were absolutely outstanding--rich, comforting, and the perfect way to begin the meal. To finish, we shared the ice cream for dessert, and it was the perfect ending. It was incredibly fresh and creamy, and the garnish of fresh mint elevated such a simple dessert into something that felt thoughtful and refined. What stood out most, though, was the atmosphere. Nella has a whimsical charm that instantly makes you feel comfortable. Rather than feeling like a busy restaurant, it felt like being welcomed into someone's beautiful home for dinner. That warmth, paired with exceptional food and genuine hospitality, made this one of the most memorable meals of our trip. If you find yourself in Los Olivos, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Nella Kitchen & Bar. It's absolutely worth the visit.

Unfortunately, the experience with management completely undermined that. My husband and I originally booked a Valentine's Day weekend at FriendsInn but had to cancel last minute due to COVID. We were told we'd receive a credit and were helped over the phone the next day to rebook for April. During that call, we agreed to a small price increase (under $100) to stay at the inn, and I have a voicemail confirming that conversation. Two days before our trip, I called to confirm - only to be told they'd need to call me back. That's when we learned we were not booked at the inn at all, but instead in an ADA unit at the Bungalow, at an additional $400 cost. This was the first time we were told about either the location change or the significant price increase. We were also never informed that the inn was under construction. When I spoke with the manager, he admitted (somewhat reluctantly) that our reservation had only been entered into the system three days prior. However, because we didn't have an email confirmation, he refused to acknowledge or take responsibility for the fact that they failed to properly book what was agreed to over the phone. Instead, we were offered a 10% discount, which did little to offset a 150% price increase - and were told we had effectively been "upgraded" to a more expensive room, without our consent or prior notice. The entire situation felt dismissive and evasive. Rather than owning a clear mistake, management deflected responsibility and left us paying for it. It's disappointing, because the property itself is lovely - but based on this experience, we won't be returning.
