Update since we first visited CCRV for parts and repairs. We've been trying to replace our awning for months. CCRV hasn't returned phone calls in a timely manner. We've had to visit in person to get any interaction. We've gotten approximate service dates and prices and they've all fallen through. It's very frustrating. read more

Scheduled a camping trip to Cachuma lake, usually, we rent the yurts or bring tents, but reserved a trailer from Central Coast RV so the pregnant misses and 2 little children could enjoy a fun weekend. RV was super clean and had all the essentials (plates, coffee maker, etc) Lucky us, because the 2nd night, it POURED (which is not common for California right now). The trailer kept us so dry, and warm, and we loved the sound of the rain on the trailer. Nothing better than waking up dry to a fresh night of rain and sunshine coming in the windows! I will rent again, and maybe book a Jalama Beach trip, which is usually too windy for the tent! read more

Horrible service out the gate! Did half ass work and made me pay the other half of the 3k balance to take it off the property after being stored thier for 11 months( not by choice). took it back to show them all what they never did and they kept it for another week. Said my generator is cant be fixed and another one would be 3500 installed. I declined and took it home and found a Severed gas line to the generator. I replaced it and it fires up like new. Finally, an RV/Trailer shop that does repairs without charging an arm and a leg. I had a propane leak in an older travel trailer so I called and made an appointment. When I arrived with the trailer I was told to leave it hooked up, they were getting right on it. About 5 minutes later a very simple problem was resolved and to be thorough, a pressure test was done on the system. John was honest, friendly and accurate and I plan to bring the trailer back for any other problems that develop. They also have the cheapest propane in town! I couldn't recommend them any higher, what a great experience. read more

I called regarding a manufacturer recall repair today and the guy was a complete tool! He basically said "I don't work for free" and was just a grumpy old fart! In March my friend and I had a trailer dropped off at Jalama beach. We made this reservation in early December and I had several correspondences via email and had called several times to speak with Rachel about the booking. On the Monday we awe arrived in Lompoc to visit family and I called to make sure that the trailer would be there on time but Rachel said she had no booking reservation. I had my reservation number and I was charged the full amount for the booking. At first she had no recollection from our many phone calls and email exchanges. Eventually, she was able to find and remember our correspondence and apologized, and got a trailer delivered. It was not the one we booked bc it was sold but we got one at least. However, the keys did not lock the trailer and we had to guard our belongings. Rachel was kind enough to come out but it did not help the situation. The key still didn't work nor did the propane. She told us she would send Jerry, their repair guy, out to take a look the next morning. He was rude and condescending to my friend as if we were at fault for the wrong key. He made several unnecessary comments despite my friend being patient with his rude manner. He ended up having to give us his master key in order to lock the trailer and the propane finally started working the second evening of our two day trip. I was very disappointed in the whole experience and I emailed asking to be remedied with a partial refund because Rachel said she would take care of us. I emailed to settle this between the company instead and called but never received a call back. read more

Do not use Earl's if you have any other options. If you do HAVE to use this company, be ready for bad business practices and things to go wrong, that you will be charged for. Earl's is the only place I found where I could rent a Tent Trailer. If you think you want to rent a tent trailer, and you can't find a place other than Earl's you might want to think again. Earl himself was helpful over the phone. The contract, insurance, and payment requirements were clear. However, that is where the good experience ended. We were asked to arrive to pick up the trailer "NO LATER THAN" 3PM, so that Earl's staff could go home. We tried to be considerate, as this is obviously an independant, small business. We rushed to try to arrive a little early - 2:30 - because Earl had seemed concerned about the "late" pickup hour. The place was deserted, and when we finally flagged down a staff member, and told him we were a little early, he asked us to wait. 40 minutes later, I asked again when we would be able to get the trailer. He made a call, and said we should come back in about 45 minutes. My husband and I went to a nearby restaurant, had a late lunch, got back to the facility, and were told it was going to be another HOUR before anyone was able to go over how to use the trailer, and check it out to us. Ultimately, we arrived at Earl's at 2:30. We did not get on the road until almost 7PM. When a staff member did show up to show us how to use the trailer, she made it seem very complicated. She was insistent that it was very difficult, and that it had taken her eight years to learn how to do it. Her instructions clearly indicated that if it was not set-up exactly right that it would be unsafe. My husband and I almost changed our minds about the rental, and left. I wish we had. As we were leaving, the air vent on the trailer popped up and flapped in the wind. We had to stop and turn back, crank up the whole trailer, and fix. When we tried to use the water from the tank that had been filled "fresh" for us, it reeked of sulfur-smell so badly that we were afraid to drink it or cook with it. Returning the trailer was another very bad experience. My husband drove the trailer back to the facility, and was told that there was a piece "missing." We did not remove anything, so there are only 2 possibilities, either the piece was not ON the trailer when we left, or, it "fell off" in transit. The trailer should have been solid enough to not have PARTS FALL OFF during normal driving. If a part fell off, that would be a 'defect' in the trailer itself, and certainly not something that we should have been charged to replace. Although the staff at Earl's was apologetic, they did not offer to compensate us for our lost time - essentially we lost a full day of vacation, because we could not get to where we were supposed to be that night. They also did not take into consideration the previous dreadful showing they had made. If a part truly had fallen off (and I am not convinced that this was the case), it would have made more sense to waive the fee for a missing or broken part, as compensation for the horrible pickup service. read more

I have to say, I am very disappointing with the less than professional manner that Earl's engaged in with me, this week. I called and spoke with a rep and was assured more than once that the manager would respond to my request in renting (last minute) a trailer for the following week. My call was not returned, nor the email on their website. And after waiting all week for a response, and once again being reassured that I would get a call, I have yet to hear a response. It was fine if it was too late to book it, but at least respond. We have been faithful customers for years, and have referred many friends to them. Unfortunately, that is definitely ending now. I live in Solvang and our motor-home refrigerator would not start while preparing to leave on a trip. Gerry was in the area on another call. He came by in short order and got the refrigerator started in very little time. His price was reasonable and saved me the time of driving my rig somewhere to get it fixed if I could have even found someone who would diagnose it with such short notice. We rented the 14ft Starcraft pop up tent trailer for a 4 day stay at Jalama Beach. Earl's RV Rentals was great and hassle free. There is a long winding and narrow road to get to the campsite so not worrying about hauling a camper was a relief. Our guy backed it in to our site on the sand, set it up, showed us what was what, and bid us adieu. We gave him a $20 tip. This pop up is nothing fancy, but it had everything we needed. A little sink with enough water for quick rinses over 4 days, a propane tank to make a few meals & overhead lights. We brought our own generator, so that helped out with the water pump and utilizing the outlets. We really just wanted a glorified tent and protection in case the infamous winds came in, so this was perfect for three people. It would be ok for 4 average sized people. The bigger bed was perfect for hubby and me. I thought the mattress was fine. Brother was in the other bed and he said his bed was too hard and a topper would've made it more comfy. There is a pullout type bed where the eating table is that would be ok for a small person, but we had our bags, snacks, etc, on the benches and table so it would be inconvenient to keep moving it around. Trailer comes with one fitted sheet on the mattresses. We brought our own blankets and pillows. Sleeping bags would've worked, too. I found out later you can request a full bedding package, which when you're limited with space in the car, this is a good option that I will utilize next time. On check out day, we packed up our car, threw out the trash, did a quick sweep, closed the door and left. Earl's comes and picks it up and you don't have to be there and wait for them. $500 deposit by hold on a credit card was released on the 2nd day after check out. I'm taking off one star because every time I called them it went to voicemail, and no one ever called me back; there was one lame fee I didn't like; and because the trailer door locked when the door closed so we had to put our hand through the side window to open the door. Never got a key. It wasn't a big deal and not a major problem, just one star off perfection. :) Next time I will know and not need to call them to ask questions about drop off and pick up. They were there by noon to drop off and the Ranger said they usually pick up 1p or after because check out is 1p. Very laid back - which is great. Cost: website shows $85/night. 3 nights = $255. Add $75 fee for renting less than one week (this is the fee I didn't like!). $150 for drop off and pick up (this is worth it!!). Insurance fee $40.80. Tax $19.76. Grand Total $540.56. = $180.19 per night. Split between 3 or 4 people makes it an inexpensive & convenient camping experience. Don't forget that they hold $500 for deposit but it is returned promptly. read more

Lori was my point of contact most of the time however I did have a chance to speak with the new owner too, he was informative and helpful!
