We already had an existing NEMA backup system, and they worked to tie it into the new system so that it will continue to serve us when the grid goes down--which unfortunately happens fairly often in our area. The entire crew worked hard, paid attention to the details, and made sure things were done properly. Just as important, they were responsive when I had questions and helped me understand what I have and how to use it. My wife and I truly appreciate the effort they put into our home. Dan D'Antin (our really great salesman and contact) suggested I call Tesla Support. After a conversation the issue seemed to solve itself. Low and Behold I was shocked when Island Pacific Energy called and said they would replace the Powerwall that was acting up. Thanks to Tesla for making a ticket and getting this done! Today, Jordan and Alan showed up and I was impressed by their professionalism and friendliness. You can tell by how they performed the replacement with speed and accuracy that they are well versed and trained in the installation and service of the Tesla Powerwall and Backup systems. Their friendliness is a huge bonus nowadays!! They took the time they needed to do the job even though it was Valentine's Day. On another note, Dan D'Antin has always been professional and knowledgeable with educating me about all my options in designing a system for my home. Within an hour J&E roofing contacted me and Keha came the next day to see the damage and provide a quote. He arrived at noon,climbed up on the roof to survey the damage and took pictures. After discussing the damage and recommendations we wanted it fixed asap as it rains a lot where we live plus LALA was still a threat. To my surprise Keha said he'll have his crew here in about 2 hours! Yay! Three men came and I believe the lead was Imai. All were very courteous and professional in their approach and skill set. I truly appreciate their commitment to customer care and would recommend them to others! The reason why I'm rating them 5 stars is the service. Even thou the wait is long you can't compare it to the service. I just hope they work on the responses back to the customers and shorter wait time if possible. I texted AEI's lead electrician, he was able to help me troubleshoot my system. Turns out I need to flip the "monitor" breaker off for 2 minutes that's located in Tesla Gateway. Waited about 5 minutes, then saw on the app my PV was charging the battery. I wish there was a better means of communication with AEI. Maybe use of an online ticketing system. Just a thought, maybe share a guide for customers on what to do during events or emergencies.

Alternate Energy installed our 36-panel system about 12-13 years ago. For years, we were happy with it. Our electric bills were incredibly low--even occasionally around $17 despite running A/C constantly. When we've needed help in the past, Alternate Energy wasn't always quick to respond, but they ultimately got the job done. Unfortunately, our recent experience has been completely different. I noticed our electric bills climbing and eventually checked the solar app and realized something was wrong with our system. Our electric bill in April was $321.33. By May it had increased to $458.66. June 3: An Alternate Energy technician came out and diagnosed a bad inverter. We were quoted $500 for the first hour of labor and $300 for each additional hour. The inverter itself was covered by the manufacturer, but we were responsible for labor. June 30: The technician returned and installed the replacement inverter. Great--or so I thought. I checked the app afterward and the panels still weren't showing that they were working correctly. I called and was told to give the system a few days to reset and call back if the problem continued. It continued. After more calls and difficulty connecting with Shyla, the person handling our service, I was told the technician needed to come back, get on the roof, and diagnose what was wrong with the panels. The next available appointment was July 30. The technician arrived. I expected him to inspect the panels on the roof. About two hours later, I realized I hadn't heard anyone on the roof, went outside, and discovered the technician and truck were already gone. No one had knocked on the door or explained what had been done. When I eventually spoke with Shyla, I was told he had worked on the inverter.The brand-new inverter that had just been replaced a month earlier.At this point I was completely confused, so I asked for something very reasonable: please email me a recap of the work performed so far, what has been found, and where we stand. Shyla agreed she would send it. I still haven't received it. I was then told the technician would need to be scheduled AGAIN after Shyla spoke with the solar panel company. Since then, I've made multiple calls and left multiple messages for Shyla trying to find out what is happening and what the plan is. Today, August 28, I called again. I was told Shyla was at lunch, and the person I spoke with assured me she would have Shyla call me back. I explained how frustrated I was and how long this had been going on. By 3:20, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called again. This time I was told Shyla was on another call and I could leave another message. I asked to speak to a manager and was told Shyla is the manager. I asked for her manager and was offered the opportunity to leave yet another message for someone else. No one called me back by the end of the business day. And while all of this has been happening, here are our actual electric bills: April: $321.33 May: $458.66 June: $615.96 July: $947.98 August: $877.61 That's $3,221.54 in electric bills in five months. I understand that equipment fails. I understand that a 12-13-year-old solar system may need repairs. I understand that parts have to be ordered and technicians have busy schedules. What I don't understand is why, after starting this process on June 3 and having Alternate Energy technicians at our home THREE times, I still don't have a clear explanation of what is wrong with our system, what needs to be done to fix it, when it will be fixed, or even the written recap of the work I've already requested. We've been Alternate Energy customers for more than a decade. I shouldn't have to repeatedly chase down a company we trusted with a major investment just to find out what is happening with our repair. I'm sure Alternate Energy is very responsive when someone is interested in purchasing a new solar system. I wish their service after the sale made an existing customer feel equally important. At this point, I don't need another apology or another promise that someone will call me back. I need someone with the authority to take ownership of this situation, explain exactly what has happened so far, and give me an actual plan to get our system working again.

But one of them referred me to PV Hawai'i, who I forgot had serviced me a few years ago when I reroofed, and they did an R&R of my panels. (They did a great job then too) So I had an error on one of my inverters. I panicked. After calling PV Hawai'i, I was so relieved with the excellent customer service of their office staff. They were professional and worked with me to fit an appointment into my schedule. The techs just left and besides them being so pleasant, were able to fix my problem WITHOUT trying to upsell me. They were clean and moved everything back to where it was, Their knowledge of different systems (I have two) and the different equipment and what to expect from them was amazing. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT waste your time with this company!…read more I reached out via email to inquire about an issue I had with our owned PV panels. The company who generated the photovoltaic solar energy system that was installed by another on island company on the home I purchased filed bankruptcy in Aug 2024! This left me with finding someone to come out and assess why my PV panels were not generating electricity and sending the energy to be used by my home or to be stored in our Tesla power walls. When I reached out I explained that the company who installed the system on our home told me via monitoring that I had micro-inverters that needed to be replaced. When PV Hawaii techs came to our home for a 'troubleshoot visit' they were unable to gain access to my PV panel inverter - which is from the company that filed bankruptcy! They pretty much told me the only thing they could do was gain assistance from the company who initially installed the PV solar energy system on our home, which mind you, already gave me a quote to restring our PV panels to a whole new inverter and then connect that to our Tesla power walls which would be thousands of dollars!! So, you're telling me that this company, PV Hawaii needs to reach out to a whole separate PV company to get this type of repair/work done!? They charged me $299 for pretty much coming out to my house and doing absolutely NOTHING. When I asked for a quote for them to restring my microinverters to a new inverter I was told via email that they were working on the quote. . . . I NEVER received a quote! Overall, if you own a business and find that you are unable to do specific type of work just let the customer know. Don't charge for services if those services cannot be done. And don't lie and say you're getting a quote together and then never provide a quote and ghost the customer! Stay far away from PV Hawaii and take your hard earned money to another business to meet your solar needs!!!!!
