Can sometimes take awhile to get your food. Tacky decor. Came here on a Sunday at noon looking for breakfast. It wasn't very crowded, however as I walked in, a guy was complaining to the staff that his food had taken a really long time. I asked the waiter about it and he told me they had limited cooks right now. So I knew I was in for a little wait, which was fine. However, after waiting 20 minutes, I wasn't pleased to see a guy come in and sit down behind me and get his burrito in only 5 mins, while I was still waiting for mine. The waiter explained to me that it's because mine needed to be grilled. I had originally ordered a taco to go along with my burrito. But 10 minutes into waiting I asked if I could cancel the taco if it had not already been started. The waiter told me it had been started, which was fine. However, once I complained 10 minutes later about the guy who had already gotten his burrito, the waiter offered to cancel my taco. Overall, the breakfast burrito was good and big, but mostly cheese taking up most of the space, not eggs. It was good, but I'm not sure if I would come back again. The one nice thing was they continually refilled my coke. But then I drink way more. The other annoying thing was I was sitting outside accord from the kitchen entrance. This was fine when there were several people make noise eating. However, when the place became quiet, I had to sit and listen to my waiter yelling to the cook, right near the entrance. So annoying. Yet another great yelp find! I was on the way to a meeting for work and had a little time to spare for lunch. I thought this would be the kind of place you order at the counter and then pick up your food; it's not. It's a full restaurant with waiter service. Much nicer atmosphere than I expected. I sat down and the waiter immediately took my order after setting down a huge thing of chips and salsa.. just for me! Bean & cheese burrito was what I was craving. Simple, delicious, and easy to make. The refried beans were perfection. The burrito was slightly greasy- just right. Tortillas were fresh and fluffy. And the price could not be beat. With a generous tip for great service my bill came to just over $7 total. They even let me use my credit card for my small purchase. Greatly appreciated since I was out of cash. I will return to try more of the menu. Seems like a great place to meet up with friends and get some delicious Mexican cuisine. read more

My expectations were too high I guess. Stop #2 of my Fish Taco quest was El Tarasco. Its a local joint in Weschester that is adorned with kitchy art and ripped up pleather upholstery in their booths. My kinda hole in the wall place. The Fish Tacos: On the Up...the order of tacos are more than plenty. We're talking freakishly huge and you still get chips, a side of rice and beans! What didn't sit right with me: This is the 1st time Ive ever seen shredded lettuce in a fish taco. WTF is that?! Plus American shredded cheese and something thats suppose to be the traditional white sauce? Im pretty sure the sauce was watered down sour cream. Also from an ascetic point of view, the fish was broken up in to chunks and kinda just thrown on to a tortilla. Maybe thats how you like your fish tacos, but I wasnt feeling it. I ended up leaving most of my lunch on the table. Bummer. I have had other things here, like the carne asada and carnitas. That's all really tasty and also served up big! Not sure how you people finish the super deluxe burrito. Thing looks like a forearm of a very very large male. Think, monstrous. Monstrosity. Perhaps you have to be a monster. I'd probably have a hard time finish even the junior deluxe because it is like the size of a normally abnormal large burrito. Covered and smothered. I opt for the El Tarasco burrito (carne asada) because it's less of a heart attack on a plate. The chips and salsa are also quite large. The chips are taco shell sized. I feel like an elf in a primarily ogre kingdom. And if you don't get anything else, get the flan. It's plate/bowl licking delicious. read more

Tried a couple new a la carte items tonight: Chile Relleno and Pollack Fish Taco. The fish taco was pretty good and is now my wife's favorite item here. The Chile was ok, but lost all of its flavor in the sauce and cheese. This place continues to bring me back for three reasons: the $4 HUGE mugs of beer, carnitas soft tacos (with guacamole), and large portions of meat on just about everything. read more

Since it shares a parking lot with our favorite Paco's Tacos which had a 35 minute wait on a Saturday night, we saw the lights for this place. Our son, who now lives in Seattle so therefore craves a true So Cal taco shop thought this place looked great so we headed in from the parking lot side, walked to the front and were seated in one of the booths within minutes with homemade tortilla chips and a spicy salsa set in front of us. We immediately asked for three separate bowls of the salsa since the first was inhaled in 1.3 seconds. My enchilada was served on a plate too hot to touch, aka homemade great enchilada with melted cheese and a nice sauce. My potato taco was huge and delicious. Son liked his taquitos, but alas the homemade Guac was placed between the rice and beans which thwarted his mixing of the two, otherwise it all tasted good. I had a surprisingly good ample pour cabernet. Beer, margaritas and pina coladas are also available. A nice lower key option to Paco's Tacos and only five minutes from LAX when you are heading or returning from taco-less Europe, South Seas, or Asia and must have your salsa fix. read more

Go here for their carnitas burritos. They're yummy. The waitress even said that it's their most popular.. I don't really like the chicken they serve here. The last time I went, they ran out of carnitas!! yup. I got their chile relleno and fish taco instead. Both came out pretty good. I had no complaints. But next time I go, i'm going back to the El Tarascos Carnitas Burrito. I already found what I like, no need to try anything else on the menu. :) Also, El Tarasco's also gives a LOT. My girlfriend made me come here with her, and honestly - I thought I was gonna hate it. You sit down, they bring you a basket of those big round homemade chips with homemade salsa, you order off the laminated menu, they bring out a plate with your meal and a fork and a knife. From that description I was picturing something like Super Mex (yuck!) But man those chips were good. And geez that salsa was really great. And that bean, rice, cheese, and guacamole burrito I had was perfect and absolutely huge. And then we got the bill. Under $5 a person??? For all that food???? Unless they made a mistake, I think I may have found cielo en la tierra! (is that how you say "heaven on earth"?) As a bonus, they offer an ENORMOUS plate of Super Nachos (you should've seen how huge this dish was) with a pitcher of Dos Equis for $12.25. Hell, a single Dos Equis at most places in LA is $12.25 just for a bottle of beer! They're seriously giving you a pitcher plus nachos for that price?? Can't beat it. read more

Two things: Reasonable prices, FANTASTIC food. I hope you aren't expecting to eat healthy. It's greasy, it's heart-warming... it's Mexican food! I love the chips and salsa here, and I really love the spanish rice and refried beans here. Couple that with some enchiladas topped with sauce and you're good to go. Yep, it's a hole in a wall joint near LAX that I've been going to since about '05. The service is a bit slow sometimes, hence the 4/5 but I have not had a bad meal here. My favorite drunk or getting drunk meal? How about a super nachos and a pitcher of beer for ~$13? That'll ensure you won't stand up or want to look in the mirror later. I have been coming to this restaurant for more than 10 yrs not to say i was a patron of their marina location as well since all the brothers owned it since 1995. I ordered by phone today a pick up which i do all the time . Today however when i go to pick up my order i realized that they had charged me for extra chips and salsa, mind you i had also ordered guacamole which is almost $8...so the extra chips and salsa should have been included....my order was a total of $27... i asked to have the charge of extra chips removed but was denied!!!!!!!! Soo paid $27 for just two tacos, beans, guac and salsa with chips... and a drink... like really???? But the worst part is i get home.. i start eating my food and boom a bite on a piece of plastic inside the beans... almost broke my tooth... however i did injure my palate with one of the edges of the plastic.... this restaurant has gone down hill in quality, customer service and all other to be honest... i have never been so disappointed!!! I should call the health dept on them for being so dirty to cook plastic in their food!!!! What if a kid had bitten it?? Or swallowed it?? I stopped into El Tarasco during a layover in LAX, coming back from Tokyo. Yelp rated the place highly and it's a ~ 10 minute Lyft ride from the airport, so it seemed like as good a choice as any for someone with an enormous craving for Mexican food (after two weeks straight of sushi and sushi...I believe I also ate sushi. I like sushi...I would have liked something else at some point, but...did I mention two weeks of sushi?). The restaurant is oddly-layed-out; kind of long and narrow, but I'm guessing that has a lot more to do with the space that was available when they opened the restaurant than with the owners saying..."you know what? Let's make the place kind of oddly-layed-out." I took a seat by the front and was promptly greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member who advised me on what's good and what's really good. Clearly, I had no idea about portion sizes because, once the plates came out, I realized I'd broken the cardinal rule of not eating something bigger than my own head...and I'd broken it about 3 times. The chicken soup was just fabulous, probably one of the best I'd had for a while. The rice and beans were equally as good, but, honestly, the tacos....they weren't great. The shells were either overfried or fried in oil that was getting old and they were....just okay. I wouldn't order them again. As mentioned above, the place is friendly, the staff is engaging and professional, and the place has a great vibe to it. 2 of the 3 things I ordered hit the bullseye and the third kinda hit the edge of the target. The food here is good, authentic Mexican. The menu is varied, the salsa is great and the chips and taco shells are made in house. We had a cheese enchilada, crisp beef taco plate and guacamole taquito plate. The cheese enchilada was stuffed with cheese and more was melted on top of the thick, flavorful red sauce- delicious! The taco shells were house made and stuffed with beef, lettuce and tomato. The refrieds weren't watery, and the rice was well seasoned. The taquitos were not the tightly rolled affairs you usually get. They were substantial, and the guac also seemed to be house made. Chunky and spiced right. The staff were very busy, every table was full, but they made sure to check frequently if all was well. And they had no problem bringing extra salsa to our salsa addict table! read more

This place doesn't have a whole lot to offer in terms of ambiance and/or coziness, but if you're in the mood for a big, fat burrito - well, you've hit the jackpot. El Tarasco's is basically just a long hallway where mexican food is served. During my last visit, there wasn't any music played - making for a somewhat spooky effect when the place is empty. Thankfully, the restaurant does show NFL games on its lone wall-mounted TV (although that perk really only matters if you're lucky enough to score one of the two tables that has a view of the screen!). When the burrito craving is in full effect, only a monster the size of El Tarasco's Super Deluxe Burrito will do. The thing is packed full with all of the usual suspects - your choice of meat (gotta give it up for that chunky beef!), along with hefty portions of refried beans, rice, and sour cream - all topped with traditional red sauce and liberal amounts of guac & cheese. Basically, the Super Deluxe is a real-deal tranquilizer of a burrito. The flavors are pretty standard as far as casual Mexican food goes, but the portions do somewhat make up for relatively "okay" taste. The chips & salsa (complimentary!) provided before the burrito itself aren't terrible, but they won't blow your mind, either. The salsa provides a welcome kick, and I generally ask for extra to accompany my burrito, as well. Don't even bother ordering the alcoholic beverages here unless you're intent on pregaming for something later in the day/evening. The Mango Margarita that we ordered had a heavy emphasis on the tequila - and little (if any) mango flavor whatsoever. That being said, if you're drinking for the sake of drinking - and not for the enjoyment of said beverage itself - then by all means, sip away. (Just make sure that you order a chaser, as well!) The food at El Tarasco comes out pretty quickly, and service is friendly/personable. Like almost everyone before me has said, it's in your best interest to heed your server's warning when he/she mentions that the "plate is hot!" If you're looking to shake up the usual Chipotle routine, El Tarasco isn't all that bad of an option. You're not coming for the ambience, and you're not there to be blown away by the taste - come hungry, leave full (and likely with leftovers!). read more

He misunderstood our order and we corrected him, he then got frustrated because he had to write down the order twice and correct it. He then raised his tone with us. I then told him he simply misunderstood what I was saying. He then suggested that we leave the restaurant. This is one of those places you can pop into, slide into a booth, order a beer and eat good Mexican food and chill. El Tarasco is a no-frills place, the staff is easy going, and the food always comes out piping HOT which I love. My go to is the chicken enchiladas, which never disappoints. The beannnnnns tho! YES! I was craving Mexican food yesterday, and since I've been to El Tarasco's in Manhattan Beach, I decided to give this location a shot. It wasn't super busy when I came in, so I was able to put in my to go order right away. They have a dedicated to go window, which is nice. I ordered 3 chicken enchiladas with green sauce, and it comes with rice and refried beans. My girlfriend ordered a carne asada burrito. They got us our food in about 10 minutes, which is pretty quick. Both of us enjoyed are food. We're pretty picky when it comes Mexican food, but the food lived up to our expectations. The only thing I didn't like is that they stuffed my 3 enchiladas, rice, and beans in a small round container, so my beans flooded my enchiladas. I also wish they salted their chips. Otherwise, everything was good. There's a good amount of seating. We were able to sit at the tables and wait for our food. Parking was also super easy. There's street parking in the front, which is where we parked, but there's also a lot in the back. read more

This restaurant is a locally owned family chain. They have the best guacamole around. Unlimited chips and salsa. The food is very authentic and nice and greasy. Full disclosure we ordered door dash to our hotel, so I can't confirm condition of establishment. We ordered two beef tacos, ultimate nachos and carne asada fries. Tacos were just fair. I got the ground beef nachos that was tasty. Cheesy and plenty of everything. Carne asada fries were really good too. Portion size is big. We would have been better off sharing one meal. But if you are a big eater you will for sure get full. I am curious as to what chunky beef is but since we were ordering from Doordash I just stuck to what I know. Located in a strip mall next to Office Depot and IHOP, this place also has a small covered Patio area outside as well to dine. My faves here are the Ground Beef Taco and Super Deluxe Burrito. I am a sucker for California style Mexican food, and the tacos are a fine example of such. Hard taco shell, filled with cheese and lettuce, really hits the spot. The Super Deluxe burritos are HUGE! I usually can barely finish one myself. Typically served wet, you can choose any sort of meat filling. I like the Ground beef and/or Chunky beef options here. Let me begin by saying I love El Tarasco, when it comes to satisfying my cravings this place never disappointments. I always order the same ol'burrito. Bean and cheese, wet with green sauce. I decided to make a slight change and asked them to add cilantro and onion. I placed the order by phone so I did not see what the burrito looked like until I got home, from the outside it was exactly what I had ordered. A green wet burrito smothered with cheese, once I began to eat it I noticed this burrito mainly had onion and cilantro , barely any beans or cheese. Is this a joke I asked myself. Every bite was a mouthful of cilantro and onion. I know when you add these condiments its usually sprinkled just to garnish your meal. It was just disgusting and I will not be returning to this El Tarasco for this reason. Thankfully there's another one in El Segundo, Be careful when asking them to add cliantro/onion.
