I moved by coldsprings a few years ago and found El Taquito Mexican Restaurant and fell in love. The food, service and restaurant is amazing. Great selection and everything is flavorful, plus i'm a huge fan of their chunky salsa. Staff is always super friendly and attentive. For being a little hidden this restaurant is a great spot for family dinner or solo dining. They also have a separate smoking area which is really nice. read more

Stopped for lunch and the place was clean, the service was quick, chips were good severed with a spicy and non spicy salsa. For that I have it a 3 star. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. It came with a velveeta like cheese sauce all over it which was a yuk for me. I ended up removing the chicken from the inside of the chimichanga and ate it with the rice that wasn't covered by it. Left the beans, the chimichanga shell and all that gooey cheese on the plate. Although I didn't enjoy my meal - I ate it and it was okay. It wasn't horrible and there may have been something better - I just will never know - so in a pinch it was ok. read more

I am not sure why so many bad reviews. Just relocated to Coldspring six months ago. I have been here 5-6 times always a great experience. Good solid food and service is great. Most of the times it's during the day. But still. With social media these days so many can have one experience and then so many have fantastic experience. The food is fair at best. I gave the second star for the size of the portions but you really don't want to finish it all. The salsa that came at the beginning of the meal was the high point. The lemons that the brought for my tea were al so old and separated when I tried to squeeze. Someone at the table ordered fajitas and the tortillas that came out were like leather. We enter with mask sit down and order something to drink and then after us two parties come in with no mask and employees don't tell them anything at all so we bring it up to the waiters attention and it seems like if she didn't care because more people came in without masks so we decided not to dine in and left! We went to dinner at El Tawuito in Coldspring this evening and to say we were disappointed would be a compliment. It was horrible. The service was slow, the food was cold, and the teenage staff was unsupervised. We overheard the bar tender offering a clearly underaged patron drinks & shots. Typical Mexican food I like the beef fajitas or tacos they also have gumball machines

I have lived here for many years and have eaten at El Taquito hundreds of times. The last year has been the worst service I have ever experienced, anywhere. I have gotten up and left the restaurant without ordering the past two times I have visited. There is no excuse for waiting 20 minutes just to place a drink order or get chips and salsa to the table!! The margaritas and food are both fine but you have to have service in order to get them. One star because I ordered four entrées takeout. The price was $45 and I gave a $10 tip and I asked if everything was in the bag and was assured everything was there. This is in the country so once I finally get home and open my bag I discover three of the meals are complete but the meals/ fajitas had no rice or beans and had no tortillas. Pretty good for a remote area like Coldspring. One of the top choices. Basic Tex mex options and a pretty comfortable area to sit and cool off for lunch. Waitress was nice and friendly food was tasty and very reasonably priced. read more

Horrible service and subpar food. Told them our appetizer was not good. They charged us for it anyway and charged us for tortillas that we never got. Don't ask for more tortillas, they charge for each one, even if they come with your flameado. read more

There are not alot of places to eat in coldspring, but of the few that there are , this is the last one I would choose to eat at. Well it's a toss up between here and paradise grill as to which one is worse. I am not really sure how you can screw up Mexican food? But guess what they do a fairly great job of it. Twice had the chili releno. First time the meal came luke warm. This time the meal was warmer but still not hot. It also lacked ranchero sauce that it had on it the first time. This time it included guacamole with it. The meals need to be hot and consistent. read more

We have been coming here for several years. Good service and the food is pretty good. Beer is cold and the margaritas are good.

Wife and I enjoy(ed) coming for one margarita each and split an order of nachos. This last visit our ticket was $44.50+tip. Such a shame. We really enjoyed coming here. No more! I ordered food to go a few times from here. So I am not sure about the service here. However, the food is always terrible! I hate that it does not taste like Tex-mex or even authentic Mexican food.
