We were pleasantly surprised by this place . We were passing through and decided the give it a shot . The chips and salsa were very good. I had sweet tea with my lunch and it was great too. The server was super friendly as well. The place was clean and good sized for such a small town. read more

Came on a Thursday before 5. House margaritas were $4. Not big, but not a bad deal. Seated quickly and chips and salsa arrived quickly. Chunky salsa was good. Not spicy, but had a good flavor. Food arrived quickly but nothing to write home about. read more

I've been several times and it's always disappointing. Even for small town Mexican food standards, it sucks! Try taco express nearby, they are 100 percent better and have good service comparably. read more

I moved by coldsprings a few years ago and found El Taquito Mexican Restaurant and fell in love. The food, service and restaurant is amazing. Great selection and everything is flavorful, plus i'm a huge fan of their chunky salsa. Staff is always super friendly and attentive. For being a little hidden this restaurant is a great spot for family dinner or solo dining. They also have a separate smoking area which is really nice. read more

Food is garbage. I've tried to like it a couple of times. It's bad every time I go. And I ordered something different every time. Would not recommend. Only reason I been more than once is because there isn't much in this town. read more

Stopped for lunch and the place was clean, the service was quick, chips were good severed with a spicy and non spicy salsa. For that I have it a 3 star. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. It came with a velveeta like cheese sauce all over it which was a yuk for me. I ended up removing the chicken from the inside of the chimichanga and ate it with the rice that wasn't covered by it. Left the beans, the chimichanga shell and all that gooey cheese on the plate. Although I didn't enjoy my meal - I ate it and it was okay. It wasn't horrible and there may have been something better - I just will never know - so in a pinch it was ok. read more

I am not sure why so many bad reviews. Just relocated to Coldspring six months ago. I have been here 5-6 times always a great experience. Good solid food and service is great. Most of the times it's during the day. But still. With social media these days so many can have one experience and then so many have fantastic experience. After Covid you must have patience! read more

The food is fair at best. I gave the second star for the size of the portions but you really don't want to finish it all. The salsa that came at the beginning of the meal was the high point. The lemons that the brought for my tea were al so old and separated when I tried to squeeze. Someone at the table ordered fajitas and the tortillas that came out were like leather. Our server was great and the place is clean but this would not be on my list of places to go back unless everything else was closed. read more

This place was a good spot before covid and NOW they don't follow the guidelines .. We enter with mask sit down and order something to drink and then after us two parties come in with no mask and employees don't tell them anything at all so we bring it up to the waiters attention and it seems like if she didn't care because more people came in without masks so we decided not to dine in and left! We asked for manager on call and he said he didn't care and we will report them read more

We went to dinner at El Tawuito in Coldspring this evening and to say we were disappointed would be a compliment. It was horrible. The service was slow, the food was cold, and the teenage staff was unsupervised. We overheard the bar tender offering a clearly underaged patron drinks & shots. We know she was underaged because that was her response when she turned down the offer. Can't recommend such a poorly run establishment read more

Thank you El Taquito, I am not scared to visit you without a mask and I am sorry for any wimp who is. Take Care & God Bless read more

I have lived here for many years and have eaten at El Taquito hundreds of times. The last year has been the worst service I have ever experienced, anywhere. I have gotten up and left the restaurant without ordering the past two times I have visited. There is no excuse for waiting 20 minutes just to place a drink order or get chips and salsa to the table!! The margaritas and food are both fine but you have to have service in order to get them. I won't be back until something changes. read more

Typical Mexican food I like the beef fajitas or tacos they also have gumball machines

One star because I ordered four entrées takeout. The price was $45 and I gave a $10 tip and I asked if everything was in the bag and was assured everything was there. This is in the country so once I finally get home and open my bag I discover three of the meals are complete but the meals/ fajitas had no rice or beans and had no tortillas. Food was average. read more

All the meals that I've had at this restaurant have been delicious, and prices are very reasonable too! The service is great, and they always prepare the food fast! My go to favorite is the El Taquito Special! read more

Pretty good for a remote area like Coldspring. One of the top choices. Basic Tex mex options and a pretty comfortable area to sit and cool off for lunch. Waitress was nice and friendly food was tasty and very reasonably priced. read more

Excellent food and great friendly service thank you Jacob and everybody the GPS map location is slightly off, it's behind the strip center at the junction of 150 and 156 in Coldspring read more

El Taquito Mexican Restaurant - The wall :) - Mexican Near Me - Coldspring, Texas

Good food, excellent service! Enjoyed fajitas for two, good margaritas in a relaxed atmosphere. Watched football play-offs!

Love this place. We're regulars now for sure! Great margaritas. Wonderful bar area. Owners and staff Are wonderful.

Horrible service and subpar food. Told them our appetizer was not good. They charged us for it anyway and charged us for tortillas that we never got. Don't ask for more tortillas, they charge for each one, even if they come with your flameado. read more

This might be the worst combination of food & service I have ever experienced. The waiter was either stoned, stupid or both. The hostess was rude, and the food was bad. Never again will I enter this place. read more

Very tasty and fresh made basic Mexican food. The chunky salsa is awesome! The margaritas were delicious and sizable. We are up this way fairly regularly so we will definitely be back! read more

Decent Tex mex food. Good chips and dip. Not impressed with wait staff. Each time my lunch date and I looked up one of the waitresses was scraping her teeth with her fingernails. Not good for business and bit gross in my opinion. read more

We were very happy with service and staff. We order skillet fajita quesco and guacamole and bean tostados or starters. Then finished with shrimp Diablo and beef fajitas. The top shelf margaritas were delicious. read more

There are not alot of places to eat in coldspring, but of the few that there are , this is the last one I would choose to eat at. Well it's a toss up between here and paradise grill as to which one is worse. I am not really sure how you can screw up Mexican food? But guess what they do a fairly great job of it. The food even after a few margaritas taste more like a shoe than food. The service is ok at times but the resturant needs much improvement. Most days when I am in the mood for tex-mex, I choose to drive an hour away to eat than to eat at this establishment which is less than 5 min away from my house read more

Twice had the chili releno. First time the meal came luke warm. This time the meal was warmer but still not hot. It also lacked ranchero sauce that it had on it the first time. This time it included guacamole with it. The meals need to be hot and consistent. read more

We have been coming here for several years. Good service and the food is pretty good. Beer is cold and the margaritas are good.

Having grown up in an area with lots of real Tex-Mex food this restaurant disappoints. It's shy of my standards but a little heat in the salsa and tweaks to the menu would go a long way to improving their food. Although they now serve margaritas and other liquor I haven't tried them. read more

Wife and I enjoy(ed) coming for one margarita each and split an order of nachos. This last visit our ticket was $44.50+tip. Such a shame. We really enjoyed coming here. No more! Mason jar will start seeing more of us now. Maybe the next owners we come back to reality on pricing and stop trying to gouge the locals. read more

I ordered food to go a few times from here. So I am not sure about the service here. However, the food is always terrible! I hate that it does not taste like Tex-mex or even authentic Mexican food. It tastes more like a TV dinner that has "Mexican" food in it. I keep trying this place thinking maybe it's a new cook but now I don't think it's the cook, the food is just terrible no matter who cooks it read more

I stopped in here right at closing and they lemme sit at the bar and even brought me food. 5 minutes before they close! Decent food and real friendly service read more

most wonderful place I've ever eaten at. screw the hop and paradise grille this place is the best
