ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! My friend ordered the Enchilada Verde. The rice was good but the rest was very lackluster. My quesadilla came out on a weird long plate, it was a long tortilla that was cooked and the inside looked like mozzarella cheese you can get from a bag at a grocery store. it was not melted and was room temp. Went here for dinner with my boyfriend last night. I wanted to try this place and he was a bit apprehensive saying he had been there before but didn't remember why he wasn't thrilled. The place was very clean and the server was also really nice. We ordered super nachos . They were very plain no pick or salsa. He had the enchiladas with green sauce. I had the chimichanga with chicken. It was tasteless no seasoning whatsoever. We did not care for the complimentary chips and salsa. The pineapple Agua fresca was good. Very authentic Mexican food. We used to come here when we first moved here, but just came here again recently reminds me how amazing this place is. Real food. Real yummy. Real authentic. Stopped by before running errands. Orders tamales, tortilla soup, and an alpastor taco. While we waited we were given comp chips and salsa. The salsa was spicy, but a good spicy. The chips were crispy but not too hard that you can't bite it. Tamales--good and fluffy. Ordered a Fajita Combo, Peppers were not cooked uneatable think skin, the onions were thick and tough skins could not even cut thru them, and the steak was full of hard gristle pieces, couple pieces of shrimp were good. I'm all about trying new places as I explore my temporary pescatarian lifestyle and found this place. I ordered a fish burrito and churros. The service was immaculate. I called my order in and the lovely woman who answered was very patient and made great recommendations. When I arrived to pick up my order, you could tell that this is a place run by a friendly family. The environment was welcoming and they are very attentive to customers. They make your food exactly how you want it to ensure satisfaction. My food was ready when I arrived. I didn't realize all of the things that came with my burrito until I got home. There was a side of rice and beans in addition to my massive burrito. She included a bunch of sauces for me to try as well. All items were tasty and I was full just from eating half of it. Though I was stuffed, I still had to try my churros. They came with a caramel sauce. I usually love churros all on their own but this sauce took this experience over the edge! Man, you gotta love those local authentic ethnic spots! Even though it's cash only, it's definitely worth the small inconvenience. Whenever I go, the place is usually empty so your food should come out in about 10 min. I love getting the tostadas but you really couldn't go wrong with the tacos either. Got takeout with a group of friends this weekend and we all got to try a little of everything. Overall the guacamole and vegetarian nachos were a huge hit! I especially loved the refried beans and fresh jalapeños on the nachos. The rice/beans with the enchilada were both delicious but I was not thrilled with the enchilada Roja. The chicken was a bit dry and the roja could have been more flavorful. Additionally, my friend didn't like her chicken chimichanga which she thought was soggy and too cheesy. Stopped by with the family this Sunday evening. We love Mexican food and seeing this just open up next to one of our favorite pizza places (Padrinos) was exciting. Its a small cozy place. Immaculately clean. Very nicely decorated with traditional Mexican art, but not over the top like you see in some authentic Mexican restaurants with a gigantic picture of Popocatepeti and Iztaccihuti that I would have to explain to the kiddos. Nor was a Mexican Soap opera blaring on a gigantic TV screen. The young lady who was our waitress was nice, attentive and very competent. The food came out pretty quickly and was all fresh and made that day....nothing like a chain Mexican Restaurant. The Fresh Guacamole ($6) was nicely sized and had a lot of tomatoes, not too spiced up. Delicious and the kids downed it. Queso Funded with Chriozo was a large portion with great cheese that was very stingy so the kids liked eating the long strings! Chips were thick and hand made. I have the Enchiladas Verdes with steak, very good. The kids quesadillas were really big, enough for an adult. My wife was huge. Of course they have a selection of Mexican sodas (Jarros I think). We didn't get dessert but they had a nice selection. All in all we were very happy with the food and the service and will be back! Finally a traditional Mexican restaurant nearby! Best kept secret in Eagleville. Nacho Chips are made fresh on premise, guacamole is amazing. Had the nachos and the beef is finely chopped. Steak burritos had a crunchy tortilla that was slightly grilled; with an explosion of flavor and a variety of ingredients. Taco salad was incredibly filling with fresh ingredients, great avocado! Being from Los Angeles, CA, we've been looking for an authentic Mexican taqueria here in PA. This place is legit. Tacos are great - al pastor are the best - you can taste the pineapple. Their aguas frescas are refreshing - today they had cantaloupe and tamarind - we enjoyed one of each. Their tamales were also good. Their guacamole was not my style - it was sort of like salsa fresca with some guac mixed in. BUT their chips were hot and fresh, and their salsa roja and salsa verde were delish. OK, here is an update from Saturday night before Easter. The Enchiladas Campechino (?), were steak and chorizo filled, with red sauce. They were delicious, presented well and consumed even better. I've been here a few times as I live in the neighborhood. Every meal has been good, with tasty dishes that are not over spiced. Today is Sunday and their taco's (small, soft shell) are only $1 each, and are delicious. I had steak, chicken and carnitas and all are quite good. The give you a small side of chipotle mayo for the chicken taco and it is yummy. Don't expect too much filling for each taco but they are satisfactory. Yes, the chips are a small serving, but great for 1 person. I notice that the couple nearby got a bigger serving for 2 so maybe this has improved? The chips are homemade an very good, in spite of the portion size. I have never had a bad meal or service and this evening there are 14 other people here. read more

I've been craving Mexican food and this place is a few minutes from our home. I called in my takeout order and was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. My name wasn't taken when I ordered which tells me they typically aren't busy. When I arrived, my food was ready and a very kind woman greeted us. However, I was really disappointed that their business is cash only. They do have an ATM, but my enchiladas that should have been 15 became 17.50 which is steep. It's very inconvenient for people such as myself who never carry cash. The enchiladas verde I ordered weren't anything great. They were also a lot spicier than typical verde sauce is. Shrimp tacos were over-cooked. Steak tacos were average. Fish tacos were good but dry. I also had chicken burrito, which was good because it had little beans in it. Their hot sauces are good. Great little Mexican BYOB place. Pizzeria style decor and level of service but the food is honest, authentic and delicious. We started with their excellent guacamole and I had steak enchiladas verde while my wife had the Barbacoa lamb special. The enchilada sauce is very flavorful with a nice spicy kick and my wife was equally pleased with her meal. Both are served with rice(which we skipped) and refried beans. First of, i would like to say that i am a regular at el burrito which is owned by the same owners of el taquito, so that means i already knew that this place will be just as good. el taquito is about 2 minutes from my house and we already got 3 takeouts in the past two weeks. The chicken wings here are actually the best I've ever had in a while, always crispy and its made with their homemade sauce. The tacos however were slightly less good than i expected. They weren't appealing or loaded. Other than that, i am still a huge fan of this establishment and i will continue to consider el taquito and el burrito as my main go to restaurants for delicious tacos and wings. read more

Had a family lunch here today. I grew up a quarter mile from this location. We had NO Mexican when I was a kid. As a teenager, we would have to drive to Tippy's Taco House in Bryn Mawr. This place has all the Puebla classics.. Al Pastor, Tinga, Carnitas,etc. in quesadillas, sopas,gorditas, and huaraches. Everything was up to Norristown standards (which is high praise. ) Prices are all over the map, and I thought $12 was a lot for a torta until I saw one. It could have fed a family of four. Service was friendly and pretty efficient, but don't expect fast food style execution. I give four stars only compared to South Philly and established Norristown standards. The portions are big. I ordered the carnitas burrito $8.5. The carnitas was moist and flavorful. Tons of meat in the burrito. It came with a side of fries. We also got the carnitas torta. 2 1/2 stars We were excited to have a New Mexican restaurant open near our home and brought our kids there to enjoy a night out for dinner. The restaurant itself looked ok, given what they had to work with. It is a small place with about 8-10 tables, I believe. Thankfully they did not jam too many tables in, which would make it uncomfortable. Our waitress was nice, but very slow and seemed to be new to waitressing. They make Pineapple Water which is awesome!!! Thankfully they give you a nice size glass of it for the price. It was delicious. Our disappointment started with getting a very small basket of chips and salsa. It probably had 8-10 chips in it, which my kids devoured in about 90 seconds. We were all hungry and wanted more, but waited until we ordered to ask for a refill of our chips. To our surprise, the waitress said "I can get you more, but each basket is $2.50." We reluctantly agreed, hoping that the new basket would be full with more than 8-10 chips the second time. Nope - another small basket of 8-10 chips arrived. I understand you might not want people eating a pound of chips for free rather than ordering entrees (I worked in restaurants for years), but we were ordering 4 entrees and were a new customer for a new restaurant. I would have been disappointed if they charged $2.50 for a normal-sized basket of a couple dozen chips, but that price for a tiny basket of 8-10 chips was an insult. So many restaurants have struggled to survive at that spot, so they should be more focused on providing higher value to new customers. The Food The food arrived reasonably quickly and was fresh and served hot. We all rated our 4 separate entrees "just ok", with my wife liking hers the most. I had the chicken fajitas which are generally easy to make. In this case, the fajitas had only green peppers (not green and red which I was told would be in the dish), onions and some rubbery odd tasting chicken. There were small amounts of cheese and other toppings served and the tortilla shells were the smallest I've ever had at any restaurant. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great. My teenage kids did not finish their meals and did not want to take the leftovers home. My wife liked her entree and was happy to take her leftovers home. Value Despite the chintzy chip situation, I think their overall prices were ok. Conclusion Although she was not happy about the overpriced chips, I think my wife would consider going back there to try it once again. My kids and I will probably not go back, at least not until they change their chip policy. read more
