I passed this place many times but this time I stopped. The Chili Relleno with rice, refried beans and large corn tortillas was very good and a bit more than I could eat. The drinks are all canned or bottled--the can of coconut water was also very good with bits of coconut in it. The place doesn't look much inside or out; it old but very clean. One of the better chile relleno you'll find. Better than most near my home in Mexico. A must have if you love child relleno.

As many reviews have said and I affirm, this is a hole in the wall small shop keeping it simple and to the point. Satisfying authentic food at a good price. The setting may intimidate but I was greeted by the friendliest service staff. the the food beat my expectations, and I really liked that the napkins were a roll of paper towels. It really cemented what kind of place and experience this is. It's not 5 stars for being the fanciest place ever. It's 5 stars for executing exactly what they wanted to be perfectly. Absolutely wonderful! Hands down one of the best Carne Ranchera I've ever had. The sauce is truly what makes this dish really really good! I've spoken to the owner of this place and I was told that she lovingly cooks the order homestyle as ordered which truly makes a world of difference, do not expect a fancy shmancy plating like those we get here in LA but what makes their food so special is the serving size, preparation and the taste, it may look quite rustic but you cannot put a value on authenticity! I had such a fantastic meal! Dorris might be a small little town at the border of California and Oregon, you could miss it actually if you blink haha but man I am happy to say, I am glad I have found this little gem tucked in this tiny little town. read more

I've driven past this place so many times and it never looked open. We stopped on a long road trip to Montana to find a real restaurant inside this non-descript building. It's nothing fancy with old decorations and authentic Mexican music. You order at the counter and the choices are basic but the food is good. It's a huge restaurant, but it had barely any patrons. (Possibly because it's Dorris and just empty in general?) It's a very casual place. The inside is a little run-down. I ordered the $10 Ord. Carne Asada (I still have no idea what Ord. stands for). I received a generous portion of carne asada steak, a salad (it had cilantro on it, so beware if you are a hater like me), beans, rice, some avocado slices, and three corn tortillas. The carne asada steak was a little hard and chewy, so I wasn't a fan. Free chips and dip for the table and generous portion sizes make this a bang for your buck. read more

We decided to eat local last night and it is safe to say our experience was well below par. Our table had a child's hand prints all over the table top. The waitress was terrible at her job she lacked personality and social skills. When our drinks came I noticed my boyfriends glass was dirty and I had chunks of stuff floating in my margarita. If I had to guess the chunks came from a poorly cleaned blender. The margarita was "blended" but hardly had any ice at all it was mostly liquid. At this point I was ready to leave but there are not many options in Dorris. The food itself was edible, not good but also not terrible. All in all was this experience worth $32? Definitely not! Save your money and make your own Mexican food at least you know what is going in there. read more

We recently stopped in over Thanksgiving weekend. They were the ONLY restaurant open for 50 miles in any direction. As we were walking in, I noticed that it was about 15 minutes past closing time posted on the window and door. The owner was there alone but invited us to sit down, she said she had a project going so she'd be happy to help us. Just after we sat down, 2 other parties came in and 2 other take out customers came in as well. Eveidently she had run out of food from the day so when I asked for chips and salsa, she said, "no problem, I'll make you some...". She literally made fresh chips and salsa for us from scratch! This was only the beginning of her excellent customer service, especially after closing time... It did take a little while for our whole meal to arrive, but she served everyone, including the take out orders, and no one complained. It's not easy to run a restaurant and keep everyone happy all the time, but so many people are way too quick to complain. My hat is off to El Tapitio in Dorris and I'll definately be back every time I'm in the area. read more

Great Find! We were SO hungry and tired after sitting through countless construction delays on Hwy 97. We took a chance on this little restaurant (lots of cars in the parking lot) and were not disappointed. Very friendly staff and excellent Mexican food.
