Best authentic Mexican restaurant I've eaten at in Siskiyou County. I stop here every time I'm in the area!

Stopped by when passing through town. Had 3 tacos (Al Pastor, Carnitas and Chicken) and an enchilada. All were quite excellent. The beef enchilada had very tender and tasty shredded beef. Best enchilada I have had in FOREVER! Yum! Will definitely make this a regular stop. Service was friendly and timely. The restaurant had just reopened after a long holiday (3 months)...and there were many people calling in to verify they were open again. It seems they were sorely missed! Good parking for our travel trailer (gravel lot adjacent). read more

El Ranchito - Asada burrito and chicken enchilada - Mexican Near Me - Dorris, California

It doesn't look like much from the outside, don't let that fool you!!! This is probably the best place to eat in this little town. If you're hungry and you want a wonderful meal, this is the place. It's family owned and operated and they really care about making sure your tummy is happy and full. We stopped for lunch on our way back into CA. He had an asada burrito. I had a taco combo plate. I haven't had carnitas this delicious in a long time. read more

Awesome authentic Mexican food. We always stop here when driving through Dorris. Very friendly owner.

A hidden gem! Their food is amazing! Very flavorful and fresh. We got chicken tacos and a carne asada burrito. Tacos are big and pack a powerful punch of flavor. The burrito is also a powerhouse of flavor. I truly haven't had anything that good in a long time; even better than a lot of places I've been to in L.A. We will definitely stopping here anytime we pass through again. An additional bonus is that it's a family owned establishment. They are so friendly and were willing to serve us food even though they had just closed. read more

Loved everything! They had no problem customizing my order for me,( Held the cilantro, added shrimp and extra avocado). Custom made me an iced mocha coffee ( not on the menu). I love that they open early ( 6:30 am) . Will definitely return again. read more

A solid no for me. I have always been curious to stop in this cute little town for some tacos and well, I finally got the chance to stop, I just wish it was good. The outside is a colorful red & green. You pull up into a gravel parking lot and walk right in. Before covid days, there is indoor seating to dine in. Now, there are a couple places to sit to wait for your food for take out. Everyone was really nice. From the young man at the register to the owners working near by, I was excited to get some good food passing through. As you can see in my picture, they are double shelled corn tortillas, carnitas, lettuce, hot sauce, cilantro & onion. I like a good hot sauce.. well, these tacos were a fail. They were bland and the meat had absolutely no flavor. All I could taste was their hot sauce, so I pulled off the lettuce that was covered in the hot sauce and that's when I discovered the old meat in the tacos. It was only after I took a bite of just the meat did I taste how sour it was. The color was pale as well (yes, I am a chef, I know what spoiled food looks and now tastes like). Horrible part...? I ate at least 1 full taco after realizing the reason it didn't taste good is because the meat was old. Curiosity killed this cat. read more

We stopped here on our way to Bend. The veggie burrito (off menu), was the best burrito I've ever had. The avocado was just ripe, the rice to bean ratio perfect, the hot sauce at times made me cry, the burrito tortilla was like wood fire toasted. 5 stars. Will be back! read more

AMAZING! We walked over from the Golden Eagle Motel to grab chicken and carnitas burritos. They were so flavorful. As good as anywhere in CA! The service was great too. We got them to go and it was fast. Also Ignacio was a super nice guy. Would recommend highly! read more

Love this place! Great food and people, definitely suggest the chili rellano, but be warned the hot salsa is HOT!

Do yourself a favor and stop here for breakfast or lunch while traveling through town. Great portions for the price and good flavor, definitely the better of the two joints in town read more

Tiny little spot with maybe 4 tables. Wife and I were the only gringos. Wonderful, real Mexican food served to our taste. The owner, cook, server spoke good English. I just told her "no mas picante" and she knew just how mild to cook for 75 year old gringos! Wife had the casa dia, absolutely stuffed with shredded beef and cheese and I had a massive carnitas flauta. Both were delicious and more than we could eat. I think that anything on the menu would be just fine! read more

I called in a order 20 minutes before I got here and now they say it's gonna take another 6 to 7 minutes unbelievable what's the use of calling in and ordering on the phone if you're not gonna have the food ready if you don't want me to come here anymore I will just stop coming easy as that I'll take my money somewhere else food good or not good if the food is not ready then this place is not for me. read more

I had two burritos and they were both great! Chicken and steak. Would recommend to anyone coming along 97

Small, friendly establishment that serves extremely authentic Mexican food, made from scratch. We stopped in on our way home and I grabbed a taco for a snack. I saw the sign out front for tamales, and had the feeling they'd be homemade (they were). I bought 12 to heat for dinner later, tossing 6 in the freezer. I am SO glad I bought extras! I love handmade tamales in every style, and my husband said these were the best he's ever had (and we've tried oodles of places). The taco was 2 stacked soft corn tortillas, diced carne asada, onions, cilantro, and lettuce...totally like the street cart food in Baja (only safer and better meat quality). A perfect snack, and only $1.75. The best part, though, was the super friendly lady working. I didn't mind the small wait, just because she was SO friendly (she speaks very good english). Definitely check this place out if you're driving through Dorris! It was fabulous to come home, toss the tamales in a steamer basket, and throw together a quick salad for dinner (since it was like 4 when we drove through). Getting it to-go is a definite option is you can't enjoy it when you're there! read more

We were driving through Dorris on our way to Oregon and decided to find a place to eat. We always go into Yelp for help. We read the reviews on El Ranchito and decided we would stop. When we drove up to the restaurant we were skeptical but Yelp has never steered us wrong. The restaurant was clean and the owners were friendly. The food was authentic Mexican and was DELICIOUS. Even the tortillas were homemade. My husband got the Huevos Ranchero and said it was the best he had ever eaten. He almost licked the plate. I had a chicken burrito with green sauce and it was wonderful. We will stop again on our way back and take some tamales home. read more

Just relocated to southern Oregon from Los Angeles and found this little gem on the way in a little town in Dorris California. I was terrified moving away from LA and all the great Mexican food I grew up with. El Ranchito surpassed my expectations! The food is amazing. Just the way my grandma made it. The selection of meats and the fresh produce make this place a must Stop if you are anywhere in the area. And the owners are pleasant and very welcoming. read more

Food was decent. Multiple customers walked into the restaurant without masks, which is extremely unsafe during a COVID surge. Hopefully this restaurant starts enforcing the mandatory face covering rules soon to keep staff and customers safe. read more

Most fresh Mexican food we have ever had. Cheap for its quality. Loved the tostada, burrito and sopes.
