The Mexican place was clean, friendly excellent food drinks were good. The server was nice. I highly highly recommend this restaurant.

Photos of the thin crispy chips and great ratings brought me in, but those grill char accents on the mixed grill fajita for two (which still gave us leftovers for two lunches) were what really hit the spot! We sat down and service was immediate for our drinks and guacamole order, then somehow our Mixed Fajita for two came out before we even got one quarter of the way through the corn chips! It was surprisingly so fast for a restaurant. The atmosphere was a bit on the loud side- as we occasionally needed to raise our voice to hear each other- so not quite a romantic spot, but fine for friends and family getting together. Sports of different channels were playing on three different TVs in the dining room, but most people weren't really watching. Our drinks never went dry before being refilled, and everything tasted great. The only thing I wished they had was Cholula hot sauce- which is a little spicier than Tapatio. However, I'm glad they carry a good set of Jarrito sodas and sweet brewed iced tea. read more

Solid place. We stopped with our teen while at Wooster. Very nice staff super quick service, I enjoyed the music. We had chips/salsa/guacamole (very tasty!), a vegetarian burrito ( not a usual mission style burrito it was full of grilled veggies, pinto beans, rice cheese etc). Wooster people know: You're either about El Taps or El Camps. There's not really a wrong answer, but I give the edge to El Taps. The people here are amazing - They take extra steps to give you some attention, even when they're slammed. The food is incredibly quick to the table, which is a must for hungry little kids. ("I WANT MY CHICKEN TACO NOW.") The margaritas are strong, and visiting on Tuesdays for margarita specials is a very, very good idea. Beer drinkers can also get a GIANT mug full of beer for a very reasonable price. (Bonus: You can swim laps in your gigante cerveza to work up an appetite!) Unlike most speedy mexican restaurants, many of the dishes don't shy away from heat, spice, and flavor. Speed of delivery doesn't mean blandness. And the portions are also fantastic, especially with the reasonable lunch meals. For the same amount of money and the same time that you'd spend sitting in a drive-through line, you get a substantial amount of piping hot mexican food. This is really a 2.5 star restaurant; I would say it's a little better than a 2 stars. The food is fine, but not great. It's very bland. I would say it's Mexican food suited for old Caucasians. Nothing seems very spicy/flavorful/hot. El Campesino definitely takes the cake over this place. Time will tell if this place will stick around longer than the previous 2 restaurants at this location. First off ...can I rate this place 6 stars? I have been around northeastern ohio and have ate at some top notch mexican restaurants and this restaurant takes the cake....or margarita? To begin with I have to compliment and praise the staff. They are fast, courteous, and actually funny. They all make your time at El tap (what we like to call it) one to remember. You leave feeling like you just made a whole bunch of new friends. Now onto what really makes this place 6 or er 5 stars. The FOOD. It is by far the best mexican food in wooster, probably the best in the akron canton area as well. I would suggest cazuelada. It has tender pieces of steak, moist chicken, and spicy chorizo tossed with peppers and onions. It's served with rice and charro beans and of course tortillas. It is absolutely one of the most tasty things I've had. It goes with out saying that their salsa and guacamole are the best in wooster. They also have fantastic shrimp, enchalidas, and tacos. If you're in the mood for mexican and in wooster, please stay away from the so so food at El campesino and go to El tap where you'll not only get great food but a great staff to serve you read more

And like Shaun B, I don't fully give it a 3 star, but it's better than a 2 and I don't wish to disrespect the business. But in all honesty, this isn't authentic Mexican food. To reiterate Shaun again, it's Mexican geared towards older Caucasian people(my grandparents took me here, raving). I've had Mexican food in cities(even in Guatemala) with much larger Mexican influences than Wooster, and the food is much spicier and much lighter. The Mexican food we often see is heavier for Americans. We need to fill up now, don't we! Not really. But everything else was fine. Service was nice and it had a welcoming atmosphere, if a bit cliche. But like I mentioned before, at least for me, the food was forgettable. It was good, but I can't remember what I got a week later... I really can't; I remember contemplating the chile relleno, but I chose something else... No idea what :/. My advice, go outside of Wooster if you want real Authentic Mexican. This will appease the appetites craving refried beans and tortillas with meat. read more

My significant other and I ate here recently and were not impressed with the food at all. We had been hopeful about the place because it had decent ratings on Yelp, but it left us sorely disappointed. Firstly, the salsa was horrible. Tasted like tomato sauce. No flavor. So we tried the bean dip. Basically bad refried beans with cheese floating on top. Be not deceived- it was not queso and other queso and bean dip should be sad to share the same name/description. The burritos were not burritos. They were more like tacos and my man was not impressed. At all. My enchiladas were covered in a sauce that was not enchilada sauce. Tasted like bbq sauce mixed with tomato sauce. The beef tips were overcooked and tough. We will never be back. Taco Bell is more authentic mexican than this place. Save your money. read more

This place is great. There is a Typical Mexican expection in places like El Tap, but theres a positive difference that must be acknowledged; the staff is really like family. I'm latino myself and I listen to people attempting to order in spanish all the time and Im always impressed in the way these folks do their best to understand the well meaning, often comical attempts to relive some spanish class from yester-year. The latest menu offers fish fagetas and anyone looking for the healthier side of typical American catered Mexican fare should really check it out. Note..the hot sauces are not "hot" but you only need to ask nicely for some of the "real stuff" if you want next level spice. Not the best chips and salsa in town but tops in main dishes, clean & customer service. If you havent tried them in a while give them another look.
