While I love eating local, and the food was decent, this place fell a little flat for me in terms of overall experience. First and foremost: the service was awful. It took us a full 5 minutes to be seated, another 10 for drinks to be brought out, and 10 MORE for alcohol to be brought out and for us to finally place food orders. The restaurant was basically empty while we were there and we were the only table in our waitress' section. Of the near 2 hours we were in the restaurant, our waitress appeared a grand total of 4 times (our food was brought by a runner). As for the food, the one thing I will give it is that the value is spectacular. $10 got me a ton of food, and most of my food was to my liking, and somewhat authentic. I'd likely order this to-go, because the food really was good, but the poor service will likely prevent me from coming back to dine.

TWICE I have eaten here [okay, ONCE at each location,] before a Show at ARDMORE LITTLE THEATER, while visiting from out of town. The food was prompt and filled with Authentico Mexican flavors. The crowded dining room (both times) made me apprehensive about a sit down meal, before the show, but, (both times,) the apprehensions were unfounded. The Wait staff (Both times) were courteous and happy to help with a food allergy (sin narajas, por favor!) information, and reccommended safe choices. The Cancun (Tilapia) Special was bountiful and fully delicious! The ticket was not prone to sticker shock, and quite reasonable, even higher it would be worth it! I skipped dessert, but the sopapillas LOOKED awesome.

Margaritas were horrible. Salsa bland. Entrée portions small and had NO flavor! Will not return.

Discovered the (big) problem at Love Field on the way back to Tampa. Called the restaurant, preliminary search in lost-and-found turned up nothing. Then the day manager got involved. It was a cool, Sunday morning and finally decided to stop and try this little place out. Let me…read moretell you that the parking lot was full as well as the waiting lobby. They told me it would be about a 10 minute wait and that was about what i waited before being seating. I knew by the way this place was packed and people willing to wait, that it must be worth it. I was not disappointed. As soon as i was seated i was greeted by my server and ordered a coffee and a Dr. Pepper. This gave me a couple of minutes to look over the menu. Before i knew it, in the blink of an eye and before i could scan over the forst page of the menu, the server was back woth my coffee and drink. While sipping on my coffee i browsed the menu and found what inwanted for breafast. Which by they way, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ordered the double (see pic of menu for desription) As i watched the room noticing that as soon as a party left the bus boys were on the table quickly to clean and turn it over and the hostess already had the next group ready to be seated. This explained while the wait wasnt as long as expected as they turn over tables quickly. The next thing is knew, my food was at the table, hot and fresh. The food didn't disappoint either as it was all cooked perfectly and had good flavor. My server checked on me as what I consider perfect timing and the right amount of times where you are not bothered but dont have to look around for a refill or assistance. All in all, this place was a quaint little country kitchen, with excellent service and food. They are well staffed to handle the crowds with ease and plenty of cooks to get your food out in a timely and fresh n hot manner. Awesome place.

There were lots of waitresses in there with t-shirts on with Phil's face on them. I guess it was his birthday and they surprised him. It was good to see that they all love him. This is an old cafe. The seats aren't the most comfortable, but pretty expected since we were in a cafe. You could tell there were lots of locals in there. My mom got the blueberry short stack. She said they were great. Came out with three pancakes that had the blueberries cooked inside and on top. Pancakes were the size of a plate. They filled her up and she couldn't eat them all. My dad and husband got regular breakfast items. Toast, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. It all looked good and they ate all of it. I had the chicken fry with white gravy, 2 eggs, grits, and hash browns. All of my food was good. I was a bit disappointed in the gravy because it didn't seem homemade. Hash browns and eggs cooked perfectly. Grits were hot. No special flavors. Sorry I forgot to take photos.

They have lovingly kept this area nice and I wanted to stay longer and explore. We were greeted warmly as we stepped inside and we were able to choose our own table. The waitress was prompt with menus and took our drink order. We took our time to peruse the menu as the many many choices all sounded so good. On the recommendation of our waitress, we both chose the lasagna and side salad. We were not disappointed and we both really enjoyed our meal. The side salads were a perfect size and were made with mixed greens and a few veggies. The dressing on the side was great as not to drench the lettuce before eating. The lasagna needs to be talked about to everyone. It was the perfect serving size so we didn't over indulge. It was piping hot and held together, not falling over or sauce running over the plate. The flavors melded together nicely and was soothing to the palate. The number one thing was that it stay pleasantly hot right through the last bite, it never got cool/cold. We will stop in again the next week are in the area.
