09.12.23 - DELIVERY REVIEW - I ordered delivery from here for one last Laredo hotel room dinner. My order was for three mushroom tacos and one fideo. When I got my delivery bag, the bottom was soaked. It wasn't grease, though, it was juice from the mushroom tacos. The tacos were stuffed full of sautéed mushrooms and veggies. They were piping hot but that heat had caused the corn tortillas to get super soggy so the tacos were a mess. And somewhat flavorless. The fideo was super salty, and I could only take a couple of bites. I can see why locals don't talk about this place when asked about where to eat. I had heard from one of my colleagues that it was good, but he isn't from around these parts. I wouldn't order from here again. read more

My wife and me went to the McPherson location early on friday we had the enchiladas she the suizas and me the red. They were horrible. I don't understand how these people are allowed to sell this garbage. I got sick from my stomach and still am after more than 24 hrs. I don't recommened this place to my my worst enemy. The tacos have allot of meat and you have many choices of condiments to add to them the staff is friendly. A knowledge of Spanish is helpful, it isn't required. The decor is of a fast food restaurant and the staff is friendly. read more

I have no complaints about this place, it was actually real good and real convenient to stop here and get something to eat. You place your order and get your drinks and find a seat. Once you have situated yourself you get up and go get you some self serve tortilla chips and some self serve salsas from the salsa bar. They have quite a few to choose from including other taco items such as lettuce, lines, etc.... Your order is brought to you and you dress it up with all the extra trimming that you acquired from the salsa bar. Tacos are good and flavorful, not bad at all. I kind of like the whole concept of the chips and the salsa bar to make your own creation. Place was pretty busy and orders flew out at a descent time to. Quality has gone down - the restaurant didn't feel clean at all this visit - there was even a crawling ant in my taco. Many tables weren't bussed and the inside had a very unclean feeling about it. I ordered two shrimp tacos and one fish taco, all in lettuce wraps instead of tortillas. I like that they have the option to go with the lettuce wraps, unfortunately after this experience with the ant in the taco I probably won't come back to this location in the future. I have always been a huge fan of the salsa/toppings bar and I still contend that a tray of tortilla chips and fresh pico de gallo from the salsa bar are enough to fill you up before your actual food order ever arrives! I came in here for dinner with a group of 5 and it took about 20 min for our order to be brought out - this seemed a bit longer of a wait than I'd experienced in the past. read more

We stopped here on our way back to Dallas from Mexico and it was so good ! I love how they have so many options on their menu, as well as the salsa bar. Pulling up my iPhone yelp app, the list of Mexican joints within a mile of our business destination was almost dizzying. El Taco Tote caught my eye due to the consistently favorable ratings awarded by my fellow yelpers. El Taco Tote offers Mexican plates, but what caught my eye were the tacos for ala carte orders. Focusing on the tacos I enjoyed a pork taco and a barbacoa taco, both wrapped in a fresh flour tortilla. Their condiment bar features sevaral salsas of various spice and flavor - I wish they had been labeled. I gathered generous portions of pico de gallo, salsa verde, and a deep red salsa that offered a nice kick to the taste buds. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and generously stuffed with the meat of choice. Two were plenty; I'm glad I resisted the temptation to order three. All-in-all, this is a great stop for a quick Mexican meal at a reasonable cost. I would definitely return. read more

I went here because I was looking for restaurants to eat at while on business in Laredo and this one had the most reviews - 3. The tacos were pretty good - I got the taco meal which came with 2 tacos. I chose the pork adobada and the beef fajita taco. It came with rice, beans, and a drink for about $10. This place could use an update. Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the positives..which is everything else. The staff is friendly and their food is superb. I ordered the fajita plate ($9.99), and it was delicious. The steak was tender and flavorful. Both the flour and corn tortillas were good (I prefer flour though). The guacamole was outstanding, and the sauces in the bar area are great. Other than the seating and walls being a little dated, I have no other complaints. Homemade corn tortillas are hard to come by, and this place nails it. Everything is incredibly fresh, there's a large self-serve salsa bar, and the service is fast and friendly. It's not a stylish place by any means, but it's clean and cheap! Since I'm not a local, I probably wouldn't have stopped in, but I bought some shoes and the sales guy insisted that I go there. Service waa definitely a major issue here, the cashier was nice and helpful, but the lady who serves the food was with an awful taste. They gave me the wrong order, and when I went to bring it to her she rolled her eyes, and went to tell the cashier what I ordered. When i finally got my Chile Relleno of meat, it was bland and not at all taste full. I would not recommend that specific food. I did also get a sirloin taco, ans that was way better. For a company that is competing with Taco Palenque, they are not doing well for comparison. read more

Great food, frequent the one in San Antonio. The family meal for four fed five of us easily.

I always get the sirloin tacos with corn tortillas. The shrimp tacos are great too. The red and guacamole salsas are the best. I grew up eating this stuff in Cd. Juarez, MX so its always a treat coming here everytime I'm in Laredo or San Antonio. I wish they would build one in McAllen. read more

i go here every time i'm in Laredo. in fact just about everyone that plays with the Laredo Philharmonic frequents this establishment. what makes the place great is the salsa bar. there are about 7 different salsas, each fantastically flavorful and spicy. there is also pico and limes and other assorted veggies to garnish your tacos. then there are the tacos, well seasoned and marinated meat grilled to perfection. and a bottle of mexican beer with a slice of lime for dessert (or flan if you prefer!) i ate here 3 times in a 36hr period. wish i had remembered to do a check-in each time. read more
