Chicken taco and carne asada taco
    Stacy A.

I was in the area and decided to try this taco place for lunch. The inside is cute and decorated nicely. The menu is very minimal, hence why I am taking off a star. I wish there was more of a variety in offering like more salad/rice bowls and more burritos. We went with some tacos and they were ok, but not anything I would crave and just have again.

There is a comfy small seating area but it was raining so we had to eat inside. The restaurant is located on the north side of 66th.

This is a go to when I'm craving Mexican food. Today I had the Gordita Specialty plate. It was yummy. The service is always great and the place spotless.

I came here because they have hand made tortillas! I got the chicken, asada and marinated pork. All were great but my favorite was the chicken! Definitely the best chicken taco I've had in a while! The flautas were also very very tasty! The agua de jamaica was super tasty! If you like hibiscus tea, give it a try! Service was quick and friendly! I was greeted when I arrived (: The vibe is family, quick bite, or hang with friends. Parking lot wraps around the building.

Great new taco spot! It's a super cool building with a fun aesthetic inside and the patio looked nice as well. The staff was awesome and our service was great, they were fun, friendly and helpful. I'm a sauce fiend and they have a ton of options so it was helpful to get their take on what they recommend for those especially. We got a few different things to try, the street tacos seemed popular and those definitely delivered and the quesabirria platter which came stocked with 3 tacos, consume, pickled veggies and beans & rice. The highlights for me were the consume which was rich and flavorful and the salsas. The guajillo salsa that came with the quesabirria platter was to die for and stole the show, it was smoky, creamy and delicious! You also have to try the Salsa Real which is their house salsa, beware if you aren't a spicy fan but I am and it had amazing spice and flavor and definitely gave the guajillo salsa a run for its money. We also had the agua Fresca Jamaica which was delicious and refreshing especially on a hot day.

I write about places and experiences I'd wholeheartedly recommend to friends--spots I'd gladly return to myself. El Taco Real is one of those gems. It checks every box for fast, high-quality food. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a full meal, there's something for everyone. The street tacos are perfect for on-the-go eating--affordable, flavorful, and surprisingly filling--while the larger dishes are satisfying and beautifully presented. The staff was warm and attentive, and our food arrived quickly. This is the kind of authentic, handmade, home-style cooking that feels both comforting and special. Inside, the pared-down, modern decor gives it a cool, relaxed vibe, and the patio looks like a great spot for groups. My family had a great time, and we're already planning our next visit.

Delicious new spot in walking distance from my house! Had chips & salsa, two street tacos, Gordita and churros. All were very good. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Woman who took our order was extremely pleasant, friendly and patient. Good came out quickly and was piping hot. Everything tasted super fresh. The avocado salsa on the Gordita was delicious! Space is small and was very clean. This is more of an upscale fast food place. Can't wait to try other menu items. Will for sure be back to this new neighborhood gem.

First time here after seeing their ad on Facebook yesterday. My husband and I ordered from the gourmet menu section. The gourmet plates had 3 tacos and depending on kind of meat and style, the pricing is different. My carne asada steak was flavorful and I liked that their in house corn tortillas have structural integrity and doesn't fall apart from the sauce like most places where they need to serve it with 2 tortillas. The cucumber lime drink was refreshing. It was good and glad we came to try it out. A little pricier than most taco places. Counter order than they bring your the food to your table with a number. Not much interaction once the food is delivered to your table. It's in the location of what used to be a Greek fast food. Small dining area with outdoor seating but no umbrellas so on hot and sunny days, it can be unbearable to sit outside. They have only been opened for 2 days.

This is high-end Mexican food made with love. I talked to the owner who told me you wouldn't believe what goes into making a taco. This is not a place that cuts corners on ingredients or anything. This is a small former Taco Bell location, but it is nicely and simply decorated, and the surface is amazing. You can eat outside there's multiple tables inside or take it to go. There's a huge creative menu. Stop in and grab some amazing food!

I ordered the tostado nachos- they were just ok. Something was missing that I can't pinpoint in the flavor. Service was fast and friendly and I enjoy that they have orange water in a self serf station. Prices were a little high for the portions. Small restaurant with small outdoor seating also. They have a parking lot

My second favorite was the chicken with some amazing reduction of some sort, love! The olives were just becuase I was hungry and I knew they would come out fast. The seafood paella was very good, just not as good as the brussels and chicken in my humble opinion and don't do it if you are not ready to get your fingers messy taking all the shells and pieces and parts off the shrimp. The bathroom was cute. The service was fast, olives minutes after we ordered, my favorite two dishes 12 minutes after ordering and paella, 12 minutes after that. The owner Rene was the server and he was very efficient for 6 pm on the Friday before the 4th of July with him the only one waiting on tables in the smallish (10 tables?) restaurant. It was not great. The problem? I think it was because owner/chef Rene Ruiz Olivar was acting as waiter, not chef. We gave Sr. Ruiz the freedom to choose our tapas, with one exception, the black ink pasta with scallops and shrimp (Tinta Negra) that reviewers have raved about. He said, no problema--he would serve it. Then he must have forgotten because we never got it. The first tapa served, almond-crusted manchego (Almendrado), was plated prettily and was delicious but oh-so-sweet. It was an odd choice for a starter, would have been better as the finale in case nobody ordered dessert. Soon came a lamb tapa (Cordero). The lamb chops' quality was uncertain as the meat was severely overcooked. El Bodegon's langoustines (Gambas al Ajillo) had given every bit of their sea flavor to the sauce, which was magnificent, we all agreed. But where were the dish's promised mussels, the rice? One shared plate, a beef tenderloin tapa (Carne Brava), had apparently lingered too long in the kitchen--the meat was nearly cold. I adore papas bravas (Patatas Bravas). I must have had the dish a dozen times or more during my last trip to Spain, in 2017, when I visited friends who live in Ronda. During my six-week stay, we toured Andalucia, staying at hotels in large cities and visiting small towns. I also spent time sola in Madrid and Barcelona. Unlike in Spain, El Bodegon's potatoes were diced to death. Never in Spain have I ever had patatas bravas that were not substantial in size. All in all, I found the vegetables accompanying the tapas unrecognizable except for the tiny Brussels sprouts. The rest seemed chopped up or stirred to pieces in the pan. Some of my friends had churros for their dessert. They deemed them appropriately hot and tasty. My dessert was cheesecake torte, decked out with a candle as it was my 90th birthday. The torte was a gold-star winner. It was absolutely delicious, its plating the most successful of the evening. It was so perfect it almost made up for the sub-par tapas that preceded it. One of us had a view of the kitchen from his seat at the table. He saw a man other than the chef/owner doing the cooking. Was he a trainee? Did Sr. Ruiz help with the plating? God knows he didn't have a lot patrons to contend with in his role as waiter. It was a slow weeknight, and there were never more than four tables occupied. I sincerely regret that our time at El Bodegon differs from so many reviewers. Like them, I want to see Sr. Ruiz's little restaurant succeed. He has a hard row to hoe, and I hope a disappointing dinner like ours does not befall anyone else going forward.

The flavor selection ("periodic table") is always kind of limited but it's a small location with not that many spots for flavors. I got the basil ice cream, which had that flavor note that you only ever get with fresh-from-the-garden basil. The location is also really good as it's walking distance from my family's place and the 50th and France area is pleasant to take a stroll around with your ice cream.

If you walk from the parking ramp, down to Bellecour Cafe and look straight across the street, you will see this place! The vibes in here are honestly lacking and the only reason I dropped a star. There is very little seating, so expect to take your ice cream to go. In the summer, that's not a problem as there is ample seating outside! But during the cooler months, there is only one table and a couple of small benches. Everything here is also white and with a name like "sweet science" I was expecting more "science stuff" The staff here was absolutely lovely!! Very polite and super friendly! You are allowed to try samples and these gals seemed to be having fun with their job! Down to business: The ice cream was DELICIOUS! I am lactose intolerant, so having some vegan (dairy free) options was great! It looks like they use cashew milk for most of those bases. I hate cashews but this didn't taste like cashews at all! I got the vanilla chocolate chip and it was creamy, perfect vanilla and the chocolate chips added a very nice texture! Would highly recommend!! My boyfriend got a mint ice cream with cookie dough pieces and a marshmallow fluff that they torched! Very good! He was extremely impressed! I would absolutely recommend this place!
