El Taco Macho is definitely worth trying! The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. I love that they offer a great mix of Mexican, Colombian, and Peruvian dishes, so there's something different to try every time. I'm actually very picky when it comes to Peruvian food, so I was especially impressed. The ceviche was amazing. It was so fresh, flavorful, and so well prepared and the pollo broaster was just as good! Crispy, juicy, and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, the food tastes authentic and homemade, and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they serve. The service was also friendly and welcoming. Almost everything is working here. The birria is flavorful, the consomé is close to being solid. But the tortilla shells came out ungrilled and raw, which knocks out a significant chunk of what makes birria tacos great. That crispy, slightly charred shell dipped in consomé is the whole experience. it's the difference between averagely good and great. The white rice leaned bland on its own but the consomé saved it. The rice really needs seasoning like lime and cilantro. A friend at the table ordered the quesadillas for dinner and came away disappointed. Too small for an entree portion and light on filling. Came on a Sunday for dinner with my family and enjoyed our experience! The staff was all very nice. Margaritas were good and strong! The table chips and salsa was elite. I got the taco salad and enjoyed. We got the kids taco for my baby but the ground beef was a little too spicy for him but he loved the beans and rice. Very good. Came in shortly after they opened and before they had a presence on Yelp. Started with a Don Chepe Margarita. It was the smoothest margarita I've ever had! Absolutely delicious. I have no idea what tequila was in it, as I left the choice to my server. For dinner I had the Carne Asada and my wife had an avocado broccoli quesadilla- a rather odd combination I thought, but very tasty and well done. I was asked how I liked my steak done, which you should never ask when cooking a steak as thin as Flank Steak- there is only one way, and my medium turned out to be as expected, well done. Regardless, it was seasoned perfectly and very delicious. The rice and beans were nothing to write home about, but they were a bit different than your typical Mexican joint serves. Not better, not worse, just a bit different. The chips and salsa served before the drinks were good, but not great. Salsa is made fresh, but more like a tomato sauce without a whole lot of other peppers or onions making an appearance and no heat at all. I did ask for a hotter salsa and was brought a different salsa altogether (not just hot sauce dumped into the house salsa.). It was thin, but very good and had a heat that just kept coming. So much so we had to leave and fly down Pearl Road to Rosati's in Brunswick for their frozen custard! The dining room is setup like a sports bar, with many TVs all showing different American sports (didn't see the crazy Spanish soccer channel on any of them, though there was one TV dedicated to a City Scape that I think was Mexico City. Spanish/Mexican music playing overhead which bordered young kid crap music at times, but for the most part didn't offend me (probably because I couldn't understand a thing they were saying). Our server was fast and extremely friendly. Trust your ordering to him and you can't go wrong. I didn't see Enchiladas on the menu, or a lot of cheesy things, but I will return to find out! read more

I will start the review with the atmosphere from the walk in all the way till I walked out. Cleanliness was on point and organized. The welcome was very nice from every aspect of the restaurant. Host/Server was happy and enthusiastic. Once seated the server brought chips/sauce and answered my questions on the menu very clear and accurate. I ordered a pineapple mojito and the presentation was amazing as the taste. So good I had two of them, which were quick on delivery. My course meal was a (forgot the name) platter paisas. Large quantity of food so the price was worth it! Service was great as the server checked on me, but was even better was when the chef came out and question how the food was to tasting. We also conversed on future plates and direction of the menu. He stated how it was gonna expand to be more of a Latin Culture menu so all countries were going to be involved. I personally as a Latino this that was great. When I left everyone made sure to say goodbye and if everything was good. i took pictures to send my sister which I will be coming back and bringing my family. read more

We went for lunch. Both had lunch chicken fajitas. First the positives. Great flavors. Unique rice...poblano in it. Beans were unique too. Chicken well seasoned and flavorful. Chips were very good and crispy, slightly warm. Salsa was decent. Atmosphere was above average with cool tile graphics on the wall with unique bench seats, very cool bar and the place looks great. Server was very nice. But I wish I could say I would come back. Why we probably won't... It's just way too expensive. We paid almost $50 for lunch. -$4.50 for a soda....that's straight up gouging. -We were not given lunch menus when we arrived. Had to ask for them. -Prices listed on the website showed lower than the menus and what we were actually charged. -The amount of sour cream given on the fajita order was literally like a tablespoon worth...maybe less. It was not even worth doing it so little of an amount. The guac was like a melon ball scoop worth. For almost $50 for lunch, you should be more than generous with this stuff. -Had to ask for extra sour cream because of this and he advised it was $2.00. It was charged at $2.50. Overall for lunch with the tip....$48! It is slightly above a run of the mill place in terms of quality. But I am just here to advise the owner why we are probably a one and done. Hopefully the owner sees this and makes some changes before this place goes under like the last few that have occupied the spot. After reopening we finally got to go and try it out. Margarita prices stayed the same but the menu was reduced and the prices went up. We were among three tables of diners. Where did everyone go? There were three servers, a bartender, a hostess/server, and two other staff were just sitting at the bar near the kitchen. The hostess/server was waiting on ALL 3 tables. She had her hands full but she was very nice and competent. The salsa went downhill-not very authentic. I asked for some salsa verdi and they brought me a tiny portion, weird looking, but it was tasty. The price of their regular guacamole appetizer was around $8.00-much more than before they closed. My husband and I shared a carnitas fajita so we asked for an extra tortilla. The carnitas was shredded not grilled but it tasted okay and just enough for both of us. We told our server that the kitchen forgot to include the guacamole for the fajitas, so she went to get some for us. It was literally a tablespoon full (for a fajita platter?). When they originally opened I raved about this place, talked it up to everyone we knew and I wrote 3 excellent reviews. Now I fear that they are going downhill so fast that they are going to end up closing down again. The place is beautiful and comfortable inside but sometimes ambience is not enough. read more

Great food great service. The music is good. Service is amazing. I got the house quesadilla and it was amazing. Packed with flavor and it's just firework flavor town in your mouth. STOP SCROLLING! If you are in the mood for Mexican this place hits different. It's different than a run of the mill Mexican joint. Everything is super fresh and seems to be homemade. The margaritas seem to be on the pricey side but you get a carafe that actually equals 2-3 drinks. So you can share one for sure. We had the street corn dip with our chips and it was addictive. Our meals were quick and super tasty. We will be back for sure. Skip your favorite Mexican place and give this place a shot if you're in the area!!! The service was horrible. The server took forever to come take our order, despite it being pretty empty. It took a long time for our food, which I understand wouldn't normally be her fault. However, by the time we got it, it was ice cold, so it was clearly sitting in the kitchen for a while. By the time we were done, we were the only table in there and we still had to get up and walk over to our server to ask for our check. She was standing around talking more than she was serving anyone. The food was fine, nothing special but definitely overpriced. It might've been better if it was warm when we got it. read more

Definitely up-scale! Eight of us celebrated an adult's birthday and the atmosphere made it special! Comfortable, deep padded chairs, contemporary decor, quiet enough for pleasant conversation. Margaritas were served in stem-less wine glasses with a mini Carnation clipped to the side. Very elegant; fresh and strong. The food was outstanding! Tortas were loaded, as were the burritos. Vegetarian fajitas were perfectly done. Generous portions and we took leftovers home. Flan and churros were delicious. Service was attentive and not intrusive. Perfectly paced. We felt pampered! Waitress was nice and accommodating but the food was 90% sliced onions, then some bell peppers and about three pieces of steak and 5 pieces of chicken cut in extremely thin pieces. There was probably about an ounce of meat, if that much. Beans and rice were just as bland as the fajitas. The fajitas were brought out first and not sizzling. Took ten more minutes to get the sides and tortillas. Teeny tiny scoop of guacamole with the very small salad. Music was so loud I couldn't have a conversation with my partner. Much more expensive than most other Mexican restaurants in the area. I don't mind paying for quality so when I say this was overpriced it's because it absolutely was. We will not be returning. We ate here with some friends after finding a top place on Yelp. There were 2 other tables seated when we got arrived. It took 2 hours and 45 to leave. The food was cold, expensive , very bland, and very dry except for the tacos that were so soggy and turned into mush when you picked them up. 2 of us got The California burrito had no meat in it was ALL FRENCH FRIES. We asked atleast 5-6 times for water and chips. We order guacamole and chorizo cheese dip it came without chips and we asked again for chips after 20 min we ended up going to the bar to get them. We came to drink some margs but decided not to when we saw a pitcher of margs was 62$. So we got A beer which took 30 min to get and never came back for a refill. The kids couldn't eat their food because the tacos were a pile of mush. The bowl had almost no meat in it was all lettuce, rice and cheese. No flavor at all. We let them know about all the food showed it to them after it sat there 30 min and they looked at us like we were crazy Handed us our $225 bill between us .....we reluctantly paid and won't ever be back. read more

All the 5 star reviews must be from family, fiends, or paid bots. Just turn this place into a vegetarian restaurant instead of hiking the prices up for a few grams of meat. My wife has had a stomach ache all weekend from the massive amount of onions in her meal that she tried to politely eat instead of making a fuss. The prices are much higher than even restaurants in Avon. Bland, louder than normal music, cold food, and slow service. This reminds me of the old commercial of "Where's the Beef?" Seems like you could do better with all the competition in area. For the high prices on the menu we expected to have fabulous food. That didn't happen. Emptied my wallet for poor a poor experience. I hope the owner takes heed of these bad reviews and makes improvements or they will be gone in a year. read more
