We'll be ordering more tripa next time around as that was our favorite!!! 2. Quesadilla Loca. Hello? Just look at the picture and video. No regrets. 9/10. Would order again, again, and again. Would be 10/10 however, doesn't come with rice & beans. Easy fix though, we ordered it on the side. 3. Burrito de Carne Asada. The pico and guac typically goes inside however, i ordered on the side as a personal preference. Not the best i've had but pretty good overall. Honest rating 6.5/10. I'd like to try the other burrito options as this one was the most basic. 4. THE HORCHATA IS DELICIOUS!!!!! Not too sweet and just hit the spot. El Taco Larry is located on Pass Road just east of Debuys Road, in a location that has been a few different places over the years. It has an odd but memorable name, and they only have a social media presence and no website that I could find. I've been here a couple of times in the past several months and forgot to take photos, but their Facebook page is loaded with pictures of different dishes as well as their menu, so you can see what you're getting. They have an extensive menu with traditional offerings plus a lot of stuff you won't find in other Mexican restaurants. Last time I went, we were seated in a booth and it was very poorly made because you can feel every movement of the person behind you. The guy behind me was violently enjoying his meal because I was getting bumped around every time he moved. It was incredibly annoying and uncomfortable, like the back had become partially separated from the seat. I had the quesadilla combo, which was only $10.99, and it came with rice, beans, and salad. The "salad" was a small bit of lettuce with a dollop of sour cream and a few bits of tomato. It's not a side salad in case that's what you're expecting. The quesadilla actually had a good bit of chicken in it, but very little cheese, and everything was dry. It wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd order that again. If you're looking for a unique non-alcoholic drink, I highly recommend the Mangonada. It's a frozen blended fruit drink with lots of mango chunks and the straw is a tamarind candy stick. I really enjoyed mine but it does take a while to drink since it is completely frozen. Our server was great and friendly, and the food came out quickly, so this is a good place for lunch. It was packed last time I went, and I think it's helping to fill the void left by El Saltillo closing near the mall. read more

Food quality is terrible. My husband's steak fajitas were so tough he could not chew them. He's an eater and left his plate 1/2 eaten plate. I ordered a steak dish and got chopped steak which was not what I was expecting. Service was good, friendly and checked in several times. The ambiance was just ok, there were multiple signs that were posted that there was no refund on food which should have been a good indicator the food was not great quality if they had to post that many signs. read more

I'll admit to kind of being drawn in by the name, but the food will keep me coming back. The chips and salsa provided before our meal arrived were excellent. We had great service. Our server was friendly and checked on us many times to refill drinks or ask if we needed anything. I ordered menudo, and it was a large bowl that was full of meat. I appreciate finding places that offer menudo every day -- some just have it on the weekends. I felt that it lacked a little flavor, but it was still tasty, and I think I could doctor it up a bit next time. I like that the restaurant offers some more traditional Mexican meals along with more Americanized dishes to please everyone. My dad ordered a beef quesadilla that came with rice and beans that he said was very good. The restaurant itself was very colorful and lively with a bar. I recommend checking it out. read more

While the workers are absolutely lovely people, unfortunately the food leaves a lot to be desired. The carne asada on my tacos was so dry. The tortillas were unnecessarily thick/dry. Trying to eat it was like clogging my throat. My brother's chicken tacos were unfortunately on the same level... i hate wasting food but even my food motivated toddler refused to eat. The nachos i ordered were not great, the meat was okay but the lettuce had wilted, the cream had a weird consistency. I did love whatever cheese they used on it. Their salsa verde also had a really odd flavour and was unreasonably spicy. I live for spice and heat but when the flavour is off, it's just 10x worse. Definitely not authentic compared to other establishments nor homemade salsa verde. Their Jamaica unfortunately is also not legit. It was weak and very watery. The pasta here was rich and comforting in all the best ways. I had the fettuccine with creamy mushroom sauce and every bite was better than the last. The noodles were cooked just right with a nice bite to them. The sauce was velvety and full of flavor without being too heavy. We had a kind server who didn't rush us and kept our drinks filled. Had tacos here the other night and they really hit the spot. The carne asada was juicy and flavorful with just the right amount of seasoning. The tortillas were soft but still held everything together perfectly. I also tried their salsa which was fresh and had a nice little kick. We had a great Sunday lunch at El Taco Larry! Service was excellent and the food was great too! My wife really enjoyed the Birria tacos and she said it was the best Mexican dish she had ever had in her life! I had one of the lunch specials, which was a grilled chicken chimichanga, rice, beans and small salad for $10.99. Great portions for the prices! Free chips and salsa, although the menu cover says they charge for chips and salsa. We also saved room for the churros bites... they were good, but overpriced. $8 for 8 small churros that were about 3-4 inches in size. Despite the small churros portion, I'd definitely go back for more of the great Mexican food at a very reasonable price! read more

What a great find this was. It's definitely worth going off the beaten path to find Larry. The 3 tacos with consume were very filling and great tasting. The Mexican Chicken taco was filled high with chicken, cilantro, onions, and lime on the side. It tasted so very good. The soup pictured was ordered with extra veggies and Larry did not disappoint. I was most impressed with the service. It's very apparent that Larry takes a lot of pride in his customer service. They allowed me to bring in my special beverage from car (diabetic), had no problem adding more veggies to soup, and offered us a sample of the cucumber water just for inquiring about it. The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating. It was very clean and comfortable. Larry's is able to accommodate large groups as well as small. We stopped in for takeout food, but was amazed by the joyful ambience and service happening in the restaurant. It made me wish that we were eating in. We ordered quesadillas to go. They were apparently original Mexican quesadillas since I've never had them quite like that. Spectacular. And the care of all the little sauces, silverware, and chips that were sent with us was just great. Absolutely spot on - flavor, quality, quality and great service. Greeted immediately to a clean basic dining area. Got the taco salad and couple pastor taco thinking no taco salad could make a full meal - the salad came out fresh and full of ingredients. This was like an hour before closing and the steak was tender, well seasoned and the shell incredibly crispy with no grease. I'll keep this simple. I live in the New Orleans area. I know Mexican food - hell, there's plenty of it. I know what GOOD Mexican food is suppose to taste like. Our food was just okay. I can tell they used the microwave a lot. My birria was dry and seemed like it was previously frozen. The tortillas were disintegrating. The salsa was watery and tasteless. The chile relleno was okay, and I did eat it. But I could not get the feeling out of my head that everything smelled like a wet dog. I just was not impressed. The Cali burrito was a real Cali burrito! Haven't had a burrito like that in a long time, very good. Had a el pastor street taco, it was more like a regular size taco but tastes like a transitional street taco. Had an enchilada that was made with real sauce and not from the can. My son had a shrimp quesadilla with beans and rice. He loved it. My friend had the birra tacos and she enjoyed them too. Over all everything was delicious and will be back. I ordered a taco salad (beef) and it came in a platter. $9 if I recall. Seasoned well, salsa and red sauce were authentic adding more flavors to the taco salad. Taco shell was my favorite. Guacamole was amazing, asking for three next time. read more
