This truck is located in the food truck park across from the Times Market. During a weekday lunch, it was one of the few trucks open. They have other traditional items like tacos and burritos, as well as a hot dog, but I wanted shrimp. We got their Cameron Borracho, which is their garlic butter shrimp. Very insensitive to a simple request for a vegetarian modification to their quesadilla. Didn't ask for them to reduce their astronomical price for their quesadillas- simply asked for no meat and to add jalapenos/onions. She rolled her eyes. I had the carne azada huarache ( which is like a long sope). The flavor of the meat was delicious. It was very well served with a tasty salsa and guacamole. My husband decided to get something from a different food truck, but when he tasted my food, he loved it as well. The person that took my order was OK, not rude, but not especially friendly either. I stopped by here this past Friday night with my wife for dinner. We were looking for a place to eat whenever my wife found the Hoopiilani Food Truck Park. After looking around for a bit, my wife and I decided to each pick a place and split the meal. I ultimately decided on having dinner from the El Taco Borracho food truck. Since it's a food truck, there's not much to say about it other than there were 2 guys working the inside and they had some fun music playing. For dinner on this evening I decided to order a Cameron Borracho as well an elote. It took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready and when it was, they called out my ticket number and I grabbed my food and sat at one of the picnic table. I began with the Mexican Street Corn which was fun as it came on a stick. The spice on it combined with the cotija cheese gave it a great flavor which I really enjoyed. After I had finished with that I started in on my entree. The shrimp in it were super sweet and cooked nicely. I especially enjoyed the garlic on them and whenever it was on the rice it tasted really nice. However, without it, it was quite plain tasting. The salad and crema or dressing on it was really good as well and I enjoyed eating them. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I liked both my street corn and entree and would be interested in trying more things in the future. read more

I got an order of Beef Tacos and they were very delicious with plenty of meat and had a good amount of salt in them. You could taste the meat n tell it was seasoned along with not being too greasy. Regarding the other reviews, I believe they're hyper critical. First this place should get five stars just for being open past 7 PM on a Monday because a lot is not. Second, the girl at the window was very pleasant. Not sure where all complaints about customer service came from. Third, we enjoyed our food. I knew coming to Hawaii that I wanted to hit at least a few food trucks, given the proliferation of the same across the state. Luckily, there just happened to be a parking lot full of food trucks near our Airbnb. This particular lot had plenty of promising options, but I was drawn to El Taco Borracho and specifically their burrito. (I can never resist a burrito!) The burrito ("Stuffed with Rice, Beans, Sour Cream, Lettuce, Guacamole & Carne Asada") is certainly an enormous concoction, to the point where I wasn't even sure I'd be able to finish it (but I did, of course). This is a dang tasty burrito. It's pretty simple, especially compared to others I've had, but the components are all above average and on point, and when eaten together it all works beautifully. I should note, too, that every bite seems to contain an equal proportion of ingredients, which isn't as common an occurrence as you'd hope. I've eaten way too many burritos that were completely lopsided in their execution (i.e. whole bites of just guac, for example). The accompanying salsa verde proved an ideal complement to the dish, though I was ultimately a little disappointed in the lack of spice in the whole thing. read more

Ordered the 3 taco plate. My meat selections were chicken, al pastor, and carnitas. The meat was flavorful and not fatty, but the tortillas were kinda dry, and there wasn't very much cilantro or onions on any of them. If I was just rating the tacos I would give them 3.5 stars. The refried beans were horrible and tasted like a watery, mushy bean dip. But even bean dip is thicker than these beans! The rice was OK. So we changed our order to two quesadillas, one chicken and one steak. They don't come with any sides except a sauce, some salsa and sour cream. Coming from San Diego you can say I've had a taco or two. So tacos made in Maui by Mexicanos you figure you can't go wrong. Well, Wrong again! This place was disgusting. We ordered carne asada tacos, well done. Super tough to mess that up! But they did! Meat was under cooked and wasn't much meat actually but more of the fat lining of the meat. My recommendation is to stay away from this place instead try another food truck. Believe me there are at least seven or eight different kinds and I'm sure they'd be much better this one.
